This model runs small, you may consider ordering up from your normal size. ‘The most New Balance shoe ever' says it all, right? No, actually. The 574 might be our unlikeliest icon. The 574 was built to be a reliable shoe that could do a lot of different things well rather than as a platform for revolutionary technology, or as a premium materials showcase. This unassuming, unpretentious versatility is exactly what launched the 574 into the ranks of all-time greats. As hybrid road/trail design built on a wider last than the previous generation's narrow racing silhouettes, the 574 offered a uniquely versatile mix of new, different, uncomplicated, rugged, durable, and comfortable that was adopted as a closet staple across the globe. That's why today, the 574 is synonymous with the boundary defying New Balance style, and worn by anyone.

I've been wearing 574s exclusively for over a decade. Love the style and the comfort. I first purchased as a nice, casual sneaker for going out. After the first pair got its fair share of use and became less "fresh," it was transitioned to a workout set. Turns out, the shoes are also versatile enough to go through the reps (if your into a minimalist style training sneaker). The pattern for me now is new 574s for the street, old 574s for the gym. The shoes are daily wears and I'd say they have longevity. Although, I was slightly disappointed with the construction of my previously purchased pair, which became unglued at the outsole and midsole. That had never happened before. Fingers crossed it was a fluke!

Our son asked for the grey NB 574 probably 6 months ago. He wears a size 15 and I've been checking the New Balance site routinely and so has our daughter. Much to my surprise, they popped up in a feed and his size was available so I ordered them immediately. He turns 17 in July and will get these for his birthday. I'd ordered the Nimbus cloud with white earlier this year and he has worn them some even though this was not his first choice. He will be so excited to get the grey ones! It looks like these shoes continue to be popular!

I've been wearing the 574 for a few years. I ordered the same model, same color, same size as always. The quality is visibly lower now. The "sustainable materials" look and feel cheap. The build quality is not as nice as it once was. The sole looks like it's soon going to come apart. The fit is poor. Too short. Too narrow in the toe. Larger size doesn't fit well either. Still narrow. Returned them. Very disappointing. This was once an excellent shoe. Now it's kind of junk.

I ordered a pair of these from the website and couldn't be happier. They are lightweight, very comfortable and look very cool in my opinion(I got the blue and grey pair). The heel is sturdy so I can slide my feet in and out without the back collapsing, which is one of the main issues I had with my previous few pairs of shoes(from other companies). They fit as expected. It has only been a couple of weeks but they are holding up great so far. I might just keep buying these over and over again everytime I need a new pair of shoes.
This is what I have been looking for. Comfortable running shoes in style. This is one of the most comfortable shoes I have purchased in my life. My feet don't feel tired walking all day with this shoes. The size is just perfect unlike other brand that usually come in a little bit bigger or smaller. I also like the cushion on the heels of this shoes which makes me a little taller. It's like the Nike air pad inside the shoes. I will be buying my next pairs of shoes from New Balance again!
Online purchase.I called to confirm that they were built on a SL-2 last, which my toes require. They said "yes" the 574 is an SL-2 shoe.Upon arrival I squeezed my foot into these SL-1 shoes (9.5-EEEE), with my toes smashed together.Tried both pair ordered.Same.Returned them.Still searching for SL-2 shoes in my size.Went to a Houston-area New Balance outlet store, and asked the clerks for SL-2, and received blank looks. They had no clue.Asked for assistance looking for 840s in my size and they pointed me at the shelves. Finding them was my problem. I could not find them.Called the Houston Post Oak store and was told that there are only two mesh-top shoes on SL-2 tgat they carry, but they didn't have my size in stock. That was a helpful clerk.
I have been using New Balance for over 20 years and I have always loved their style and fit...until recently. I always ordered the same size and width, pretty standard 8 1/2 2E. For years they arrived and I was please and proud. Now, my latest, are a bit tight...though they are they same size as my previous, which fit like a glove. I will still continue to buy New Balance but going forward I will go try them on at the store first. Needless to say that they won't necessarily be my first choice anymore.
I am typically a size 11 mens shoe size. However upon trying on the shoes once I received them, they were a tad small and felt tight and rather uncomfortable. I now need to make a return, so I will do it in store at your Pasadena CA location. It really would have been nice if they had fit, but I suppose it depends on the manufacturer when it comes to shoe size, and makes one learn a lesson to always try before you buy. I am hoping that my in store experience will allow me to find what I need, so I can be done with this endeavor. This purchase really turned out to be more of an inconvenience than anything to be honest. Not that it's anyones fault. But still none the less, irritating. Thank you and see you in store very soon!
I normally wear a size 13, and every major brand I’ve ever bought in that size fits just fine. I have another pair of New Balance, A pair of Nikes, A pair of ASICS and Vans. All are size 13 and all fit just fine. When I received these in size 13 I had to check the tag on the shoe to make sure they weren’t mispackaged, they ran at least a full size small. I first thought maybe they’re just stiff from being new and I should try to break them in, after wearing them a few times my feet were in pain. I took them to a shoe repair shop to get them stretched, and then still had to take them back again to get them stretched further. Other than the sizing issue they are a nice quality shoe, but for a high quality brand with this kind of price tag I would expect consistent ... I would otherwise recommend the shoe, but would recommend definitely buying a size up.
Have worn this style for many, many years. I like the look, the classic sole (as opposed to tragically trendy versions), and the wearability for everyday life. The newest iteration has a narrower toe box and feels like it runs just a bit smaller than all of the previous pairs. I don't mind them being some narrower, but they are definitely shorter. It was almost as if I would need a half size larger. If you wear thick socks, then the changes might be enough to consider up sizing. Overall, I'll keep buying and wearing this style despite their being made differently now.
