I needed some new light shoes that I can wear indoors with my orthotics given that I need support for my feet all the time now that I am older. In this regard the shoes are very good and breath well.Unlike other reviewers I don't find these shoes to be any more or less supportive with orthotics than any of the other brands I wear. Nor do I find the fit to be smaller -- although I think that going a half-size larger won't be too loose. This doesn't negate the other reviewers' comments -- just points to the fact that one shoe truly doesn't fit all.l'm not sure that that these shoes would give me the support I look for during active wear -- particularly in the heel. The heel counter is better than cheap alternatives but is not stiff enough in my opinion. Sirs:I have had excellent success with New Balance until this online purchase. The shoe for the right foot is unwearable due to significant discomfort in the front half of the shoe even though it is labeled as the same size and model as the previous pair that I bought over a year ago in a local store. I am quite disappointed, and I don't know what to do except give them to someone else to wear. It does not seem fair to ask for my money back. I do have a lifelong bunion on my right foot big toe, but most shoes, including the previous pair of New Balance, have not been a problem. I also have another pair of NB purchased in Boston 18 months ago, and they have been great shoes.

I purchased this shoe to replace an older Merrell running shoe. I decided to test out the shoe right out of the box and went for a short run. For myself I have a slim foot (men's 7) i saw the other reviews mentioned that the shoe fits narrow but for myself it was a perfect fit and nicely contoured my foot. I didnt feel any pressure points on my run. Great shoe overall. Only downside is that its not waterproof (no goretex coating) so I will have to check the weather before future runs !

The shoe fits smaller than advertised. The tongue design has this undesirable excess material. Left toes cramped in the front and the top of my foot feeling achy. Proper sizing and redesigning the tongue to where it's attached to the sole using stretching material instead of just sewing it on above the top of the lower foot would be an improvement. Wouldn't recommend these shoes until these issues are addressed.
I wear an orthotic and unfortunately those shoes aren’t quite deep enough to accommodate them at the heel in particular. So I had to return them. I sized up by 1/2 and the length and width were good for me. For a trail shoe they were light and airy. I didn’t get a chance to test the tread in real conditions but I can say it is t a super aggressive design. I purchased these for day ri day use - waking on mixed terrain and I think that’s their sweet spot. Certainly a solid runner for light trails and gravel pathed too. Great value as well.I liked these shoes definitely recommend them - orthotics aside.
Hi, thank you for asking about my recent purchase. When I received them I immediately put them on and took off for a nice long walk with my dog. I was sure they would fit as I have been buying shoes from you for a while, this being my fourth pair. Unfortunately these run smaller then the fresh foam ones I've bought in the past and irritate my toes as they rub up against the front of the toe box. I can't wear them and didn't feel I could as I've walked in the street with them and scuffed the bottoms. I assumed your shoes would run true to size and am very disappointed with these, as they are to small. They are otherwise a nice looking pair of shoes, I wish they would have fit
65 year old who’s been buying New Balance for decades. I’m an inspector who’s been working in a garage with concrete floors for decades. I have big, narrow feet. New Balance shoes have the quality I need to hold up for all the walking, bending, twisting, and climbing I do. The dark color hides the dirt from the months of use. The guard for the big toe is great to protect from premature wear. Eventually, the shoe wears out. But all parts wear out together, sole, insole, tongue, laces, etc. Bottom line, it’s my go to shoe because of the quality.
I purchased a pair. They felt great at the store trying them on. Wore them one day at work and quickly found out I got them a size and half too small. I usually wear a 10.5 in most shoes. The discomfort from wearing a pair of shoes that are too small is unbelievable. Went back in and tried an 11. Still too small. Exchanged them for 11.5. I've been wearing them for a several days and the pain in my big toe and the ball of my foot is unbelievable. They still feel a little too small. But the store only had 11.5 as the largest size. Needless to say, these shoes run a bit small. I think the reason they still hurt is due to the toe protect. What I do like about them is the way they grip the heel firmly and they are very light weight. The shoestrings stay tied most of the ... MoreI purchased a pair. What I do like about them is the way they grip the heel firmly and they are very light weight. The shoestrings stay tied most of the time. I've only had to stop and re-tie them once. On the foot that doesn't hurt they feel great. I suggest if you purchase them, making sure they are the right size. You may have to go up higher than usual. I do have wiggle room in the door that hurts. I'm probably going to to exchange them for s different kind. The pain is just too much.
The trainers are brilliant and really comfortable. The 1 star rating is because the sizing is miles out. Tried 8 on several people that were 8 and no one could fit in. They fitted someone who was 6.5. Because i had to send them back i have to pay postage and then more postage to get new ones sent. I used the size comparison charts but obviously wrong. SD wont admit its down to them. Absolute rip off.
I currently own seven pair of NB trail running shoes, and have likely have owned 50 to 75 pair over the years. I wish NB would go back to the 410V6 tread, or better yet the chevron pattern probably five to ten years before that. NB shoes hold up great! I used to trail run, now I hike a lot on aggressive steep trails. Traction matters to me. These Nitrel V5's are just to get me by until an aggressive tread is available again from NB. The 5 Stars is for NB. NB makes great shoes!!
