As a Veteran with PTSD & only income being the Disability Support Pension money is very tight. I do a cardio walk most days for 1-2 hours (5-9 kms) to help with my mental health. I am also a volunteer Mental Health First Aider (qualified) for other veterans. These shoes have enabled me to complete my regime with so much more comfort and support, I was so impressed with the difference these shoes have made for my training.

The foam sole needs a firmer support layer (below the foam). The foam is so spongy that your foot can rock from side to side as you walk (not a matter of shoe fit). This could lead to injury or joint pain from improper alignment. The 2E version of the show tapers too much at the toe to be comfortable for those of us that require a wide toe-bed. The side of the shoe right below the ankle bone doesn’t come high enough to give proper support/stability.The tread of the shoe is similar to my previous 840v4 2E but thinner and softer. So the treads will wear out even faster than my old shoes.All-in-all the shoe isn’t all that bad for someone with a narrower toe but without a more durable tread and ergonomic support layer, I can’t say the shoe is going to work well.

I run 5k twice a week. The NB 860 v13 fits me perfectly, which is a rare find for me, but beyond that, the support is great, especially the lateral support in the front for when you're running downhill; it's firm without being rigid. They are also very springy with a very forgiving landing. I read a review that complained about the tongue, but I find the tongue very comfortable as it has its own cushioning. I have a medium arch, and the arch support seems perfect. I did put my own Sofsoles in since the ones that come in the shoes aren't anything special, but I guess that's pretty common these days.

Excellent shoe. Shoe is very comfortable. I have a very wide foot (4E). So far I have walked approx. 150 miles in these shoes, with very little issues. I hope to get 200 to 300 more miles out of these shoes. I feel a lot of ankle support and a lot of stability too. These are my go to shoes for everyday. Only down side (which is small) is due to the extra wide width (4E) the shoes only come in 1 color.
Nice running shoes. Supposed to be similar to Asics GT2000, but such a long time since I ran in that one, hard to say. On the soft feeling side. Enough support for a daily trainer. Size is pretty true, wide enough for my forefoot, still snug at ankles/heels. Recommend these, very good deal.
This version of the shoe is great. The size and width are true. But to be fair, I have worn the 860 for my running forever. I am in my 60’s and so far injury free. I never change the type of shoe I run in. I never have to try them on. I just order them when I think I need a new pair for running. The old running pair is then used for walking and the walking pair goes to grass cutting.
I've had my 880 v8 for over 6yrs are the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned so went with NB again. Unfortunately with the latest 880s, I could only find extra wide in black (boring) so thought I'd try these 860s.Pros: the colour is nice and lace length is generous compared to other brands. The extra wide shoe is quite roomy and my toes don't feel squished in.Cons: feels too firm under the ball of my foot and the tongue digs in. Perhaps they'll soften up over time.My kids have always worn Asics and convinced me to try them. Wow, feel much cushier underfoot so think I'll give them a go next time.
I have plantar fasciitis and finding a shoe that doesn't cause a flareIs nearly impossible, until THIS shoe. I purchased the x860 v13 andWore them for 2 whole days with zero break in issues and my feetWere the happiest they'd been in forever. UNTIL the toe cap (theRidged piece at the end of the toe of the shoe) began to crease inward and(Collapse) And Painfully pinch my big toe. I thought maybe I got a lemon pair so IExchanged for another pair. To my dismay that pair did the same thing.I returned for a refund. I'm so heart broken over it. I finally find a shoe that I canWear all day without causing my PF to flair and the freakin toe is defective.....😩.New Balance PLEASE redesign the toe in this series.
I purchased the shoes for my 94 year old Father. At this point he is very happy and walking better.I am very appreciative of the time and care that the worker in the Burbank store took with my Dad to insure he was happy. The store only had gray and my wanted the black which we ordered online.Everything went smoothly without any issues or glitches.I am very pleased.I have been shopping at Fleet Feet for many years and will continue to do so.Thank you!
I love these shoes but have to give them a low rating due to quality issues. This is the second pair I’ve had and the soles on the first pair wore out really quickly. After 3 months both soles were badly worn and in less than 4 months there were holes in the soles. I thought it was a one off but after a month the new shoes soles are wearing badly already as well. They’re very comfortable and the rest of the shoe is great but the soles are too soft.
