Finding shoes that fit comfortably was a constant struggle. The unique offering of various width sizes has been nothing short of revolutionary. For the first time, my dad was able to enjoy the comfort and style of enclosed shoes without the need to resort to orthopedic alternatives. The range of width options provided by NB857 v3 means that the shoes conform to the contours of his feet perfectly with the required arch support. This personalized fit has eliminated the discomfort and pressure points experienced with standard-sized shoes.

I used it for 3 days at work and bottom right sole started to fall apart. Thankfully I was nearly off work with about an hour to go when it happened. But thatās unacceptable for a $150 shoe with tax I paid from a brand like NB. As a long time user of NB, this changed how I feel about them. I notice quality has changed in only the last few years for shoes like 1080 or work shoes from Shoe for Crews. Sorry I had to rate this 1, but no more. What I dislike is that I am getting charged $5 for a ārestocking feeā. This aināt going to be restocked, going to be maybe restocked to the trash can.

I bought to get the New Balance fit and feel, and these have the usual familiar fit, very comfortable and stable for walking. I also wanted a more 'formal' looking all-black look, and they have this as well, although the laces certainly are not dress shoes! The shoes are rather heavy and cumbersome, though. The soles have a fine tread pattern, but don't seem to hold on to dirt and gravel badly. The grip on normal surfaces is exceptionally good, not as great on dirt trails.Overall, very good shoes, just on the heavy side.

My son is autistic and has a very wide foot. He is very particular about his shoes. He absolutely loves these. He was hitting bruises on the tops of his feet from wearing some shoes passed down from his Dad. They didnāt give enough support on the sides so he was tying them very tightly. Well those bruises are gone and he wears these shoes all the time. We love New Balance!
Bought these MX857AB3, Size 13, mfg date 08/22, TWO months ago in San Antonio at the NB store in Olmos Park area. The soles are coming apart. Pieces just separate from the bottom of the shoe. As if the soles are made of some layered material and flakes (two by two inches) are coming off. Same location on each shoe. Outside (i.e. little toe to heel side) on each shoe. This does not get heavy wear. Just low low qualtiy. I don't have the receipt. Btw system does not accept upload of picture.
I consistently buy this and similar models for the narrow width as well as the way they feel for all-around daily use. I pair them with Superfeet brand insoles for their orthotic like support in the heel and arch to give them construction closer to that of a good dress shoe for my particularly narrow foot. P.S. I also wear their top running shoe for its AA width if you want an idea of how important width and support are to me.
I loved the 857, but the style change has driven me away. I will be returning the pair I recently purchased. It was the only shoe I wore (both black and white) for many many years because its style and structure were friendly to a foot with bunions. The change in style took that feature away. I then looked for shoes that might have a toe box as comfortable as the 857 and gave the 813 a try. I bought 1 pair and was pleased to see that it worked just as well - but when tried to buy 2 pairs - white and black - I was advised that my size, 12 6E, is not available. I am disappointed that after so many years of satisfaction with New Balance, I will have to try other brands. If you can help. please do so. I'd love to keep New Balance as my shoe of choice.Jerome Zeffren

Really disappointed at first I thought they were going to be the best work shoes Iāve ever had. Iāve worked in restaurants for over a decade and have tried them all. They way they fit snug around your foot and the soles feel supported and comfortable. However within the first week the NB stamp and the bottom sole had peeled off my right shoe. A few weeks later the left shoe, Iāve now had them for a couple of months and the whole sole is peeling off. They are definitely the most expensive work shoe I have bought and they didnāt hold up as well as some of the cheaper shoes I have had in the past
I'm over-the-moon happy that the 857 Men's Trainers are again available (current Version 3)! The 857 Version 2 have been unavailable since mid-2021. (eventually disappearing from the website). Having foot and knee issues, the NB 857 (and its previous model numbers) have been my daily shoe for 20+ years. With NB Customer Service having no knowledge of 857 availability or a possible replacement, I purchased 624's two weeks ago. They don't have nearly the support of the 857. My feet were in pain after wearing then for even short periods of time. Three days ago - going on just a hunch - I checked this website and found the 857V3's available again. I received the Version 3's today. They provide *exactly* the support my delicate feet need. I received the Version 3's today. They provide *exactly* the support my delicate feet need. I couldn't be happier.Yesterday, thinking about how unhappy I am with the 624's (pretty much unwearable), I phoned a supervisor at NB Customer Service (I was on hold for 50 minutes). I was happily given return authorization for the 624's - even though they had been worn and I no longer had the original packaging. I'm very pleased. On the rare occasion that I've had an issue with an NB product, they've provided me with excellent (I'll say Apple-like) service. Thank you!
