After dealing with two toes being amputated one on each foot in the last 3 years I was devastated, thinking I would never get back on a skateboard again. I started watching old skate videos recently and thought maybe I could ease back into rolling around again. Just walking has been tough for me and my balance is way off. I know this will take time and that's fine. And with this new resurgence ignited inside myself to skate again I asked my sister if she would buy me a new subscription to Thrasher magazine, inside my 1st new issue i saw an ad for the Tiago 808's ...they blew me away at 1st sight!!! Totally took me back to 90's style skateboarding...i had to get a pair. While in route for delivery I was really wondering how my amputated feet would feel inside. Opening the box and see these 808's in person put a new smile on myself, looking them over inside and out for a good 30 minutes before even lacing them up. I slid my busted feet inside, laced them and stood up. Butter...smooth like butter! I spent an hour or so just walking around the house just to get the feel of wearing a skate shoe again. The comfort level is high and plush in right spots. The sole has really impressed me. It's is really grippy and has already helped me from stumbling while walking. I'm broke right now because I haven't worked in 3 years but I can't wait to buy a new set up to start skating again in these shoes! The 808 has an awesome look, comfort, and grip. Hopefully one day I'll get a pair in black. Thank you for listening... Jonny

Great, while they lasted.

Shoes were stiff/bulky out of the box which is exactly what I was looking for. These shoes were holding up great after 4 pretty heavy sessions, there was very little wear. After my 5th time skating them, I started to notice little chunks around the outer edge of the soles missing(see picture). The issue only got worse after the 6 session as the sole continued to crumble. Great shoes while they lasted, wish the soles were a bit stronger.

Overly narrow
13 February 2023

I love the way the shoes skate overall but they run way narrow and short just as the 1010's do for me. My other complaint is that the collar of the 808 around the ankle is mesh and foam so if you do heelflip tricks a lot that mesh gets destroyed. I feel a mesh panel on the side with leather or suede aroun the entire collar would of been I more practical choice given the nature of what the shoe is used for(SKATEBOARDING)I'm all for breathable shoes in general but I would much rather have durability over breathability when it comes to a skateshoe!!! Toe box construction is on point but they missed big time with the back half of the shoe along with sizing and overall fit.Even with the negative aspects of the shoeIf they offered it in a wide it would probably be the ... MoreI love the way the shoes skate overall but they run way narrow and short just as the 1010's do for me. Some of the worst shoes I've ever tried
24 February 2023

The heel slippage on these shoes is terrible. I usually wear a size 11 and I tried an 11 and a 10.5 and the heel slippage was still excessive. I normally get the brand with 3 stripes skate shoes and those have very little heel slippage. Also, as other people have mentioned, the toe box is narrow. I figure you could break it in, but still it is an issue with this shoe. It's a shame that this shoe doesn't fit better because they look so good and I'm not gonna sacrifice toe box space to get rid of heel slippage. Heel slippage + it's too narrow. I never thought this could be done. Goodbye New Balance skateboarding shoes

Some of the worst shoes I've ever tried (update)
6 March 2023

I overreacted. I just needed to break them in and now they are very comfortable. I would not say they run narrow anymore. You really just have to break them in so, like everyone else, I thought they were real narrow and uncomfortable in the toe box, but after breaking them in the toe box feels so much better. I would still suggest you go half a size down if you like having a thumb's width of space in the toe box because I think New Balances run large. These shoes are going to be uncomfortable at first on your toes, but stick with them and they'll feel great. Also, please give Tiago more shoes. The designs on his shoes are absolutely AMAZING. I love the all wheat 808s and the all brown 1010s. I'll probably end up picking up another pair of 808s down the line because ... MoreI overreacted. Stiff and strange color
28 November 2022

These shoes are really stiff out of the box. The color is way more mustard in person than brown and is very odd. As always with NB skate shoes I have to go a half size down to get a snug fit. These fit well though and provide ample support however are heavier than some other notable cup sole shoes out. Overall probably worth it on sale, for full price I would think twice.

I love the way the shoes skate but they are way to narrow throughout the entire shoe. They also run small so I went up a ¬Ω size and it still felt overly narrow. I also tried a whole size up which ended up being a tad bit big in terms of length and it still didn't fix the width problem entirely. Predominantly for me their to narrow in the arch and heel cup. I think part of that is due to the shoe being somewhat banana lasted so the shoe has a curve from toe to heel. Overall the shoes are probably my favorite in terms of durability and just the way they skate. It would be really awesome if NB would do the same thing with the 808 that they did the wesgate/508 and offer it in a wide along with standard
