New Balance Unisex 574 White/Black - Size 6

Men's New Balance 574 - White - Low-top sneakers The most New Balance shoe ever' says it all, right? No, actually. The 574 might be our unlikeliest icon. The 574 was built to be a reliable shoe that could do a lot of different things well rather than as a platform for revolutionary technology, or as a premium materials showcase. This unassuming, unpretentious versatility is exactly what launched the 574 into the ranks of all-time greats. As hybrid road/trail design built on a wider last than the previous generation's narrow racing silhouettes, the 574 offered a uniquely versatile mix of new, different, uncomplicated, rugged, durable, and comfortable that was adopted as a closet staple across the globe. That's why today, the 574 is synonymous with the boundary defying New Balance style, and worn by anyone.

A dumbed-down New Balance.

I missed the cue in the online description that these are actually men’s sizes. I have a narrow female foot that’s just not shaped like a man’s foot. I also hated the way that the top edge from the heel to the tongue is raw and unfinished looking. It exposes an inner layer of thin foam and looks as if it would deteriorate quickly. These are the first NB shoes I have ever not liked, but they went back to Nordstrom’s. First NB stopped making the 10 1/2 Narrow shoe size that was best for me, and now they are trying to fit women into men’s shoes.

Classic, but only for casual wear.

I’ve worn these off and on indoors and outdoors. Played about 6 rounds of disc golf around Knoxville in them, which was my main purpose for buying. They’ve already started coming unglued at the front where the sole wraps up onto the main toe cap. The paint on the heel clip is coming off which is funny because it’s white plastic underneath, but they painted it a slight cream color. The suede got really hairy very fast when gently brushing them with a soft dry brush to get dirt and small grass seeds off them after wear. The foam midsole is really too soft to hold up to any errant sticks or rocks that may impact the surface, there’s some areas that are a bit ripped up. I’m not hard on my shoes and it’s not like I’ve been hiking in these in rugged trail. Lastly the ... MoreI’ve worn these off and on indoors and outdoors. It’s totally a real casual sneaker and not worth it’s full retail price, I’m glad I paid much less for these by buying them from Going Going Gone, otherwise I’d be livid. New balance only has a year warranty for certain issues and these don’t qualify unlike other brands that stand behind their product. Just disappointed because I’ve had other NB that held up much better.

These sneakers are comfortable and good looking. I generally wear an 8.5,but purchased a 9 in these and they’re perfect.I tend to have a more narrow foot,so I use a “heel cup” and lace the shoe tightly. The shoe gives plenty of support in the arch and even though there’s mesh in the front of the shoe, there’s enough structure to give support.

Macy's and New Balance
26 April 2023

Macy's was fine. I picked up the shoes at the store and although they were 11D as were the New Balance 928 shoes that I was wearing, they were clearly much smaller than the 928s, and my orthotics would not fit , so I returned them. New Balance has deteriorated markedly over the last few years (I have purchased many pairs in Canada - the 1540v3s were terrible with the mesh tearing after a few wearings). New Balance requires major improvement.

New Balance gets a Neutral
30 April 2023

I bought these shoes because I needed something to wear on last minute trip to Paris. I tried them on before I left and felt like they were comfortable so I took them. On the upside, they weren't expensive, but I felt a little like I was wearing clown shoes. They just felt big and clunky, not heavy, not light. Def not the chic look I was going for. I don't think I'll be wearing them again. 3 and a half stars.

Perfect fitness shoe
26 April 2023

I needed a walking shoe that had “sidewalls” support - support along the lower sides of the foot- and good heel strike and forefoot cusioning. This shoe is PERFECT for those of us with a more European forefoot and narrower heel. Now if New Balance just made dress shoes like this.

Runs Small
28 January 2023

The kicks looked amazing, and the color was nice. However the sizing is not correct. I order a Mens 7.5, which was woman, however the shoe was actually a woman 7.5 so they did not fit. It unfortunate that they did work, because my life loved them.

Separating rubber on bottom
24 May 2022

The rubber on the bottomOf the show separated within 1-2 weeks. We have had to superglue it. In order to have the show last much longer I will have to spend moreMoney at shoe repair for a more significant glue to be used. Disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend. No haven’t asked for a refund. Shoes have been been worn to school.

Too small
8 January 2023

The shoe looks and feels fine except that it is much smaller than the size would suggest. I normally wear a 6-6.5 dress shoe, and ordered a 7 to take into account athletic socks. However, my toes hit the top of the shoe in an uncomfortable way. I will have to return this size and see if at 7.5 might fit.

wide heel, but overal great
21 July 2023

This is my first pair of new balance sneakers. It was very difficult to judge what size to get based on reviews. I’m typically a women’s size 9 or 9.5 and I went with 9.5. My initial impression was that they were way too big as my feet were slipping out of them. Actually, though, the length seems right - they just run wide in the back/heel. I laced them more tightly and it seems like that will help keep them from slipping. I hope so because the style is just what I was looking for!
