This style ended my plantar fasciitis, I’ll always keep New Balance 990 or 998 on hand. Finding on sale was a huge plus and in a shocking turn of events my 17 year old daughter said they were a nice color. Plus made in the USA = no brainer.

This pair does not feel anywhere close to the comfort and fit like the v990. The foam does not feel as cushiony, the top front area of the sneaker feels tight. I never have had to break in any pair of v990.
Love these sneakers. Great silhouette and color scheme. The vintage logo on the tongue is a nice touch as well. I ordered True to Size and they’re a little big, but I’m not swimming in them and I think a half size down would be too tight.Overall, very great shoe!
I'm upset the last several releases, especially this one, haven't had any stock in size 16. The only shoes in my size are frumpy grey pairs. It feels like New Balance is saying "People like you shouldn't be wearing our shoes".
Quality is off the charts when compared to other brands but this model fits extremely narrow and long. I ordered a 10.5 and the width felt like a 9.5 and the length felt like an 11.5. As much as I loved the shoe and color way I had to return it cause they looked amazing but felt like tight clown shoes.
Got a faulty pair, can't return it. Contacted customer service and it's been over a week.My 990v4 in the same color way also came with faults.The purple release 998s where even worse than these.I truly hope customer service can do something to make this right.I collect every 990v4 and 998 that drops and has dropped for some time, it is EASY to see the quality go down.
So far so good. Bought these because I have plantar fasciitis and 10 years ago expensive NB walking shoes healed my PF. I can tell that my feet are improving although I am still playing basketball (using NB basketball shoes).
I've 2 other pairs of 998 and these fit exactly the same. Albeit I did original buy these off NB, I had to get another pair just because of how much I like this colorway. The pigskin leather is undeniably the highest quality leather on a sneaker I've seen in a long time, and that speaks volumes when comparing other sneaker brands.For sizing, I'm a TTS 7.5 with narrow/medium (D) sizing, and went half-size down like my other 998's and they fit fantastic (and just for reference, I fit TTS in 574, half-size down in 990v6, and TTS in 1500). I recommend you doing the same if you have "normal" feet size, although going TTS will give you that extra wiggle room if you so choose to. For wide-foot, definitely go TTS.
