This model runs small, you may consider ordering up from your normal size. ‘The most New Balance shoe ever' says it all, right? No, actually. The 574 might be our unlikeliest icon. The 574 was built to be a reliable shoe that could do a lot of different things well rather than as a platform for revolutionary technology, or as a premium materials showcase. This unassuming, unpretentious versatility is exactly what launched the 574 into the ranks of all-time greats. As hybrid road/trail design built on a wider last than the previous generation's narrow racing silhouettes, the 574 offered a uniquely versatile mix of new, different, uncomplicated, rugged, durable, and comfortable that was adopted as a closet staple across the globe. That's why today, the 574 is synonymous with the boundary defying New Balance style, and worn by anyone.

I've been wearing 574s exclusively for over a decade. Love the style and the comfort. I first purchased as a nice, casual sneaker for going out. After the first pair got its fair share of use and became less "fresh," it was transitioned to a workout set. Turns out, the shoes are also versatile enough to go through the reps (if your into a minimalist style training sneaker). The pattern for me now is new 574s for the street, old 574s for the gym. The shoes are daily wears and I'd say they have longevity. Although, I was slightly disappointed with the construction of my previously purchased pair, which became unglued at the outsole and midsole. That had never happened before. Fingers crossed it was a fluke!

I purchased these shoes prior to leaving for an upcoming trip, and they were such a good investment. I was walking at least 5-10 miles every day through uneven surfaces, and in the evenings, only had minimal discomfort after being on my feet all day. I treated these with weatherproofing spray before wearing them so that the suede portions would be a little more protected, and there was no discoloration or unwanted effects. Overall, I am really glad I purchased these; they are such a classic style and are very comfortable, which is a great combination. I need a wider toe box in my shoes, so I ordered the wide in my normal size because I often find that medium widths are too narrow, and they were the perfect size, with no rubbing or discomfort.

I'm writing this on the current 574 listing because the pair of 574's I bought are no longer on this website. I bought them last fall and barely wore them. Less than 10 times over the last year. I started wearing them more this fall because of the colder weather.I originally barely wore them because they are insanely uncomfortable. They hurt. They took over a dozen wears, long days, before they broke in. The foam soles caused a ton of pain as they were so squishy they offered the opposite of support. I got the shoes because they were so highly recommended on Reddit, and other parts of the Internet, because they were supposedly the most comfortable shoes for people with big feet. They are not. Just bearable). And the fabric has started separating from the rubber soles. The sides are just falling apart. They are not durable, on top of never really having been comfortable.I hate these shoes.

Okay so for a minute I was contemplating getting these but was confused by the color description saying grey and navy. Even though the photos clearly look brown/brown. I just didn't want to be surprised with a pair that was actually grey and navy. New Balance fix that color description. I've been looking for a classic brown pair for daily activities. I finally saw them in a champs store but they didn't have my size. I jumped the gun and got them before my size sold out again. The colors are perfect and size is perfect. My feet measure 7 1/2 so I get size 8 womens and its just enough space for me
I was utterly disappointed after trying on my newly bought shoes NB 574. I've been wearing the 574 style for 10 years and have 3 other pairs of 574 that I bought prior to New Balance changing the structure of the Classic 574 so loved by a few generations of fans. The structure now has a very thin tongue with inside seams that aren't smooth, thus it rubs on your foot causing irritation. NB. Also narrowed not only the bottom outsole on the heal part, but also the shoe itself, so my toes were squeezed into a smaller toe bed and it causes discomfort. The materials used are also thinner and less sturdy and supportive. These shoes won't last but a year with frequent use, unlike my old ones that I've been wearing for 5 years.Bad change New Balance. I Returned this low quality version of the Classic 574.
i read the reviews and listened. i sized up by a 1/2. shouldve sized an entire size up. im a size 8, i got 8 1/2. shouldve gotten a size 9. they run small in length, the width is just fine. honestly, i feel like with the size up, i got more width in the shoe rather than length. idk. its sized weird. but otherwise, i put in my orthopedic insoles and it feels like im walking on clouds- i wear these at work. but truly, my big toe starts hurting because its like right there on the tip of the shoe. then it makes me arch feel really stiff. shouldve returned it or exchanged it, but i didnt have a replacement pair for my job to wear in the meantime and didnt wanna deal with the hassle. but truly, other than the sizing issue, these shoes wouldve been amazing, and i still ... I have worn New Balance for years & have 6 pairs of the 880's in my cupboard in size 9.5. After all these years of purchasing New Balance, I have absolute trust in their sizing. However, this time I was wrong to trust & wish now that I had checked the reviews before ordering. Although there is no warning on the New Balance site, these shoes are AT LEAST a half size smaller in the way they fit compared to the 880's. A lot of my time wasted on this order & the return. . I think customers deserve a sizing chart comparing the differences in sizing of the different models. Then, at the very least, the customer is informed BEFORE they place their order. Very disappointed after this experience. If this chart already exists then it needs to be placed in a more prominent ... I am typically a size 11 mens shoe size. However upon trying on the shoes once I received them, they were a tad small and felt tight and rather uncomfortable. I now need to make a return, so I will do it in store at your Pasadena CA location. It really would have been nice if they had fit, but I suppose it depends on the manufacturer when it comes to shoe size, and makes one learn a lesson to always try before you buy. I am hoping that my in store experience will allow me to find what I need, so I can be done with this endeavor. This purchase really turned out to be more of an inconvenience than anything to be honest. Not that it's anyones fault. But still none the less, irritating. Thank you and see you in store very soon!
I normally wear a size 13, and every major brand I’ve ever bought in that size fits just fine. I have another pair of New Balance, A pair of Nikes, A pair of ASICS and Vans. All are size 13 and all fit just fine. When I received these in size 13 I had to check the tag on the shoe to make sure they weren’t mispackaged, they ran at least a full size small. I first thought maybe they’re just stiff from being new and I should try to break them in, after wearing them a few times my feet were in pain. I took them to a shoe repair shop to get them stretched, and then still had to take them back again to get them stretched further. Other than the sizing issue they are a nice quality shoe, but for a high quality brand with this kind of price tag I would expect consistent ... I would otherwise recommend the shoe, but would recommend definitely buying a size up.
In fact, this is my very first New Balance shoes. I wear sneakers everyday, and usually those are other famous brands because they have more city-like designs, but this time, I decided to give New Balance a try since so many people praise NB.I found the color that I really like, and when I put them on for the first time, I was shocked! They are so soft, light, and comfortable. Since then, I wear almost everyday. The shoes have wider toe space which makes it very comfortable. The size is a bit on the smaller side, so I'm glad I picked one size bigger than my usual.I know I will keep buying this same pair over and over for the rest of my life!Thank you!
