When it comes to running, going the extra mile isn't just a figure of speech. Whether it's morning exercise, intense training, or head-clearing relaxation, a daily regimen of training miles, combined with ordinary movement throughout the day, demands a lot from a running shoe. With running comfortably for longer in mind, the 880 was built to provide consistent performance for the neutral runner. The Fresh Foam X 880v12 is modernization that can be seen and felt. A soft foam compound, and dual-layer midsole setup is featured alongside a sleek, jacquard mesh upper featuring strategic zones of support and breathability.

I’ve worn the New Balance 880 size 10D for the last decade. I had foot surgery 10 years ago and these were the only shoes that allowed me to continue running. I loved the past fit and the design. I’m so disappointed with the latest version. They feel like a completely different shoe! They are so sloppy large and soft that I can’t get any heel lift when running. Unfortunately, I assumed they would be the same as my other 880’s and threw the box away on the day I received them. Otherwise, I would return them. New Balance, what happened? These aren’t running shoes any longer. Why change a product that has been so successful over the years????

I ordered these same shoes a couple of years ago. Size 8.5 wide. This was already a half size up from my normal size, plus it was in wide. But they fit me well then and still do, they're just a bit beat up now. The ones I just ordered and recently received feel too small! I've worn them around the house twice - for an hour each time. My big toe is hitting the top front of the shoe. I will try again one more time when I get back from my Easter break - but I may end up returning them. Sad because I do like them very much - other than the fit, that is.

I use my NB shoes for work primarily. I'm a Physical Therapist Assistant in a hospital and on my feet a good portion of the day. I got this pair to rotate and help my other 2 pairs last longer. I love the color even more in person and the larger size availability (recent measurement now is 12.5, as if 12's weren't challenging enough to find in Women shoes/ colors. I didn't realize these were 880v12 until I wore them the 1st time. More bounce/ cushion noted with heel strike, which threw me off initially because it felt like I was working harder to walk! My mistake ordering because I've been wearing 860v12's, for stabilization. But if I burn more calories walking, I won't complain! Both styles are very comfortable and I will keep coming back.

I just want to say that I have difficult feet. They are short and wide and it’s difficult to find shoes that fit them that are not too long or too narrow and are not children’s shoes.I bought a pair of these shoes in July, 2022. The guy who helped me was great.I’ve had tinea in my left foot recently as the toes there are even wider.I decided that I should get another pair in case something happens to the pair I already have. The Mosman store didn’t have any in stock but helped me order some online. The delivery guy went to our upstairs balcony rather than our lower one but luckily I heard him arrive and was able to call out to him.Trouble is, it’s difficult for me to find dressier shoes of the right size so they are often too long or narrow so I always wear ... MoreI just want to say that I have difficult feet. They are short and wide and it’s difficult to find shoes that fit them that are not too long or too narrow and are not children’s shoes.I bought a pair of these shoes in July, 2022. I used to run exclusively in hokas and brooks (bondis and glycerins) and realized after a while there is such a thing as "too" much cushion (I would get shin splints if trying to run in something else/lightweight and my feet would hurt). Well took some time off running and decided to get back into it this month and got these shoes to begin my marathon training for my shorter distance days and they have been PERFECT! Insanely comfortable, no pain at all. Very supportive shoe and can feel a nice cushion in the heel but not too much. Just right. Do run a tad narrow but appreciate new balance for always seeming to have a wide toe box and that's where it's important for me so was able to do my normal running shoe size in this (I'm a 7.5 in non running shoes and ... MoreI used to run exclusively in hokas and brooks (bondis and glycerins) and realized after a while there is such a thing as "too" much cushion (I would get shin splints if trying to run in something else/lightweight and my feet would hurt). I'm already considering buying another pair for work (I'm a nurse and on my feet a lot so love comfy and cute tennis shoes like this).
I have worked my way through various versions/generations of the 880 and 1080s. My last pair were the 880 V9s. Despite being a petite, active woman, I have Hobbit feet and I wear a 7 2E. These are difficult to find but New Balance has always been my go-to. When I received the 880 V12 they were noticeability narrower in the ball of the foot and the toe box was tapered significantly. I measured the V12 against the widest part and they were 1/8th of an inch narrower and the shoe itself was shorter than my V9s. I just finished a conversation with customer service that could not provide specs for their shoes. Instead I was directed to a PDF for New Balance fitting. I have lost complete confidence in New Balance and am disappointed in what was always an easy buy for me.
Tired of flimsy, unsupportive sneakers of cost so I tried Fresh Foam. Got Hoka's in store, great shoe; cushy. But also tried on NB Fresh Foam & it was a toss up.After reading reviews I ordered these NB in a wide fit as I have bunionettes & glad I did. Fit well, good sole, arch - not flat not too much. They make you feel supported around heel, ankle for any side to side movement, less likely to roll over.I think trying on 1st would alwats be best.. I am curious what a half size up would feel like, but otherwise I am very happy & unregretful about this purchase.
I have rheumatoid athritis and joint damage in my feet.. I've owned NB runners over the yrars, always found them comfy. Went to Athletes foot, got sorted, These extra wide NB were pretty much the only shoe suitable for me... my orthotics fit perfectly in them. I worked 15 days straight wearing them, and i was so tired, but my feet felt good.. First time in a very long time, I don't come home and put ice or heat on them for pain relief, Am extremely happy with these shoes.. Amanda at The Athletes Foot Traralgon waz amazing as well. highly recommend them.. and the shoe..
I have been buying these runners for years now and seen a gradual decline in quality - the extra wide are no where near as wide across the front or as deep in the toe as they used to be and there is now too much material in the arch of the runner. Laces are shorter and cheaper quality too. I returned this pair for a refund and will now have to find an alternative. Disappointing sign of the times.
I have had several version of the W880 New Balance and this shoe does not fit well. It is too long and does not fit the foot well. I wish I had sent the pair back. I have been a faithful customer of New Balance for more than 40 years but this may be the end. The company takes a version that is well received and makes changes just to say there is a new version. It seems like the shoe engineering team does not know what they are doing...just making changes. I currently have two older versions of the 880 and both fit better and provide better wearability/function than version 12. New Balance shoes are too expensive to provide such poor design work. What has happened to New Balance as a premier company for designing shoes for running?
