They offer good support for pronation with the support extending past the medial arch to the lateral part of the shoe. The shoes are made of soft but sturdy fabric and have cushioned inserts and soles that allow me to feel more stable as I can feel the ground while walking. The highlight of the shoe for me, that I have not found with any other shoe, is the softness around the inner side of the shoe by the ankle bone which is designed high enough to not irritate the navicular bones. OK, close to 40 years of speedwalking here, Athena division, pronator. I've used Saucony (because good fit for wide feet) and Asics (good motion control), both helpful for my heavy heelstrike. Currently, though, this is the shoe that gets the job done. Good rebound cushioning, sturdy medial posting, accepts my orthotic, elastic material in uppers and laces means a glove-like fit. (Be warned that without a shoehorn, I'd never work my foot into even the D width but once on, the fit is perfect.) The only downside is that the outsole and midsole aren't quite as durable as I'm used to, and I killed two pairs under me (alternating use) in about ten months, wearing through outsole and well into midsole, while logging only 15 miles or so a week (still breaking in artificial ... The fresh foam on the V13 has made the midsole too soft and the medial post puts my feet in an over supinated position when I run. Luckily I was able to still purchase the 860V12 which is a perfect blend of cushioning and stability with a medial post that matches well with the midsole. With the Vongo already being a soft, plush, high stack running shoe, NB no longer has a traditional firm stability shoe in it's line-up. Not sure what options are left for those of us that really do need a firmer supportive shoe after the V12s sell out.On the positive side, the 860 V13 still has a great fit with a roomy toe box. However, after wearing them for only one shift, the toe cap failed with one large permanent crease. Due to its extremely thin construction, the cap overly flexes - while making popping noises with every toe bend, and ultimately creases into its current form. It's just not built robust enough. Now the crease rubs on the top of my toe and I'm just waiting for the next blister to appear. After a few runs in my New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v13 it was very clear these were SO much better than the UA running shoes I had been wearing and every other running shoe I have personally purchased.The shoes are very cushioned, it's kinda springy feeling and it definitely made running on pavement SO much more comfortable for my feet and my knees. The shoes feel like they are form fitted to your feet, cradling all the places you'd want support from your shoe. They are light and breathable. Great for walks and runs. And since i read that New Balance is podiatrist approved, I will for sure be buying another pair of these when I wear the current ones out!I received this product for free in return for an honest review. I cut my toe nails all the time, so they are not long, yet the plastic piece of the shoes kept catching my toe nails and caused pain and a skin crawling uncomfortable sensation. I tried to wear these to work out for a two weeks, and they are just as uncomfortable as day 1. If you want to try these shoes, I recommend sizing up 1 to 1.5 sizes. I run between an 8 1/2 to 9. I always order a size 9 in NB which gives me a little extra space. I ordered this model in size 9 regular. My big toe is butted up against the very tip of the shoe and the fit is so tight that I had to double check the size to make sure I wasn't sent a size 8 narrow by mistake. So frustrated and irritated with the inconvenience of having to make a trip to my local UPS store to return the package and to I'm still without my much anticipated new running shoes!
