I played this when it launched on the Wii U, and I bought it again with rose-tinted goggles on. The game hasn't aged well to say the least. Don't get me wrong, it is still a solid game that's free of bugs and includes a boatload of content, but the 3D side-scrolling just doesn't feel as tight and precise as Mario's 2D outings. Again, it is still a perfectly competent game for its time, but it won't go down in history as one of the greats (SMB, SMB3, SMW). My reasoning for bumping off a star then is the value proposition here. What you get is a port with no significant improvements for the price of a full new AAA game. Perhaps if they would've handled this more like Super Mario Bros DX on GBC, including collectibles, nostalgia bits, and historical museum type ... MoreI played this when it launched on the Wii U, and I bought it again with rose-tinted goggles on. Instead it has built in hint videos? No thanks.

I would first off like to start by saying that I never played the Wii U versions of these games so this is the first time I ever played these Mario games and I am so happy I got this. First off it's a single game yet it's two games combined into one. If you love The 2D side-scrolling Mario games and you loved Mario World and Mario 3 this is exactly what that feels like. It feels like they took Mario Brothers 3 and Mario World and mash them up together to create this game and I absolutely love it! This is an extremely solid Mario game and Luigi game it's very fun and it stays very true to the original Nintendo Mario 3 game and the Super Nintendo Mario World game when Yoshi first made his appearance in the Mario World games. If you like Mario games then don't even think twice about getting this and just get it. I definitely don't regret getting it.

Equal parts 'Frustrating', 'Skill', and 'Patience'. I can't recommend this game enough for old-timer SNES players (I am 33 haha), or anyone looking to have a fun time in the world of Mario. At 33 years old, this game is just as fun as the original I played when I was 6 years old. There are few games, systems, or entertainment devices that transcend age and time. These games are one of them. I highly recommend.

Nintendo struck gold making the switch portable and a home console. I will not elaborate on the differences between the Wii U version and the Switch version as I do not own the Wii U.The down and dirty about this game. I purchased the original NES back in the day, and Nintendo mastered the horse manure rage quitting game during my youth to justify the costs of the limitation of 8 bit games. Games like Battletoads and Ninja Gaiden were the authors to rage quitting. Nintendo fixed the frustration of games by adding two new characters; toadette and nabbit. When your skill gets better, you can select the other characters, that were standard with the Wii U edition of this game.

I'll start this review by admitting that I never played the Wii U version. The last Mario game I played was New Super Mario Bros., back on the original Wii.Coming from that game, I'd say that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has several welcome improvements, the best of which is that you can choose your character, and that there are a couple Easier/Easiest characters available. My six-year-old son loves everything Mario, so when he saw this he was super excited. I was a bit skeptical, because I was worried that it'd be too challenging for him, but I figured I wasn't much older than him when I cut my teeth on the meatgrinder that was the original NES Super Mario Bros, so I took a chance and ordered it.So happy I did. It's been a ton of fun and a great bonding time. I absolutely recommend it if you've got younger gamers at home, who either want to play with you or their older brothers/sisters.I played through the entire game -- every stage -- with my kid. I was Mario and he was Nabbit. Nabbit (from Rayman, maybe? He's a little bandit bunny thing) is the character the game considers "easiest" -- as far as I can tell, Nabbit can't run, but enemies also don't notice or hurt him, and things that would harm him (e.g., fireballs) only stun him. The only way Nabbit can die is if he falls into a pit (or lava). That means that a younger kid (say, a 6-year-old) can play with someone who is older. I played the entire game with my young son, and together we beat the whole thing (there were a fe.

This is a fun, older style Mario platformer that offers a fun 2D style gaming experience. In comparison to the newer-style Mario Odyssey I don't enjoy SMBUD quite as much, but I am still glad that I bought it. That said, if it had not been for the ability to play as the Nabbit character on the harder levels I would have absolutely hated the game. At this stage in my life, I don't have the patience or the reflexes for a level that requires you to repeat it over and over and over until you can manage to get clear through all the (sometimes time-restricted) threats and still survive a boss fight at the end with only 3 levels of damage. Younger gamers will probably relish the challenge, but I like that I can customize the level of difficulty to some extent. I've played through all the levels and managed to get all the stars except for a couple in the final bonus area. I've also played through some of the Super Luigi levels, but since the difficulty there is more time based and harder, I doubt that I'll end up playing it very far.

Great Condition, Quality Game
9 July 2024

I bought this game along with New Super Luigi U about 7 months ago, and it came in great condition as you can see in the photos below. It is a very fun game having the Propeller Mushroom return along with the new Power-Up the Acorn Suit. It also introduces the Baby Yoshi's who are a fun addition. However, if you already have a game from the New Super Mario Bros series, you've played them all
