Archival digging is nothing new to the Nike family, and in 2021, the Swoosh is turning back the clocks to spotlight one of its classic 90s runners: the Air Max 96 II. In the midst of celebrating its 25th anniversary, the model has already brought light to the forthcoming “Goldenrod” makeup, and now it has officially uncovered its forthcoming women's “Comet Red” offering.The top half of this model is engineered with two main materials including that of a mesh and smooth leathers. The former makes up the underlays which are untouched in terms of coloring, while the latter is shown off through the clean white overlays and “Grape Ice” mudguards. More “Grape Ice” notes pour over the interior liners, heel's suede panels, mid-foot stripes and throat overlays. The eponymous “Comet Red” hue is used sparingly, but is summoned to fill in the tongue's Air Max lettering, the side Swooshes' borders and the Nike checks embroidered onto the lower throat and near the ankle. Affixed to the heels is a debossed “MAX” notation that is completely swathed in a muted grey. Curvy midsoles don an angelic shell, and house Air units that are painted to reflect its moniker.
