I work long hours on my feet. I've always used nike air max. I buy new ones every 6 months. I didn't realize/know shoe carnival sold air max. I usually bought my shoes at a local spring goods store. They had stopped selling air max and I was talked into buying Brooks. They are more expensive but with all the raving review and most employees wearing them I went ahead and tried out the Brooks. NEVER again!! You simply cannot beat walking and standing on air!! I was surprised to find them at shoe carnival and for a great price and selection! You can get them with the bogo deal and save even more money. I was able to buy 2 pairs of air max to go through the year for less then one pair of Brooks!I always have to size up in Nike for whatever reason

Don’t buy.

I bought 3 pairs of these shoes because I could not get the Tailwinds that I usually buy. The 1 st pair wore out in less than 5 months. I sent them back to Nike and they told me it was “normal” wear and tear. The Tailwinds usually last me 2 years. I would have had to wear these shoes 24/7 for 5 months and run the entire time to have them wear out that fast. Nike denied my claim. Even though I like the Tailwinds, because of Nike’s denial, I will NEVER buy another pair of Nikes.Note: I bought these from Famous Footwear, not Academy, but the review is for the Torch IV, not the store.

I purchased this shoe for my father who does a lot of walking! I am truly pleased with this purchase because he says they have been super comfortable to walk in for long periods of time unlike previous walking/running shoes he has purchased before where walking for long periods of times his feel begin to hurt. He is 46 years old and says this is the best pair he is has worn! He loves how light they are because that's what he feels makes them more comfortable along with the support they provide. The color was was great and there were also other colors available which was nice because there were options. The size is true to size I was worried they wouldn't fit because I ordered them online but they fit great. Last but not least they were very affordable for the amount ... MoreI purchased this shoe for my father who does a lot of walking! He will definitely be purchasing more!

Great Shoes For Walking and Casual Wear
28 May 2018

I do like these shoes they are very comfortable for casual wear and walking. I did go to the gym with these shoes on and I do not reccomend them as a good running shoe or for the elliptical. I did straight cardio that day and my feet starting hurting almost like the feeling of blisters starting to form on the the bottom of my feet. The color is not the color that is listed in the pictures online. I did get the black ones and the color that is stated on the shoe box is black and rose gold. The gray color is not on the shoes. I have attached some photos for those of you that are curious as to what the shoes look like. Oh by the way I did go to the store and purchase these shoes because I wanted to see how bad the gray color was on the shoe and to my surprise they were ... MoreI do like these shoes they are very comfortable for casual wear and walking. Great support!
21 September 2021

I have been wearing the Men's Air Max Torch 4 for several years. These are great shoes if you are over 200 pounds. I highly recommend them for daily wear. They provide excellent support and shock absorption. Wear them anywhere! You can add your favorite insoles if you want, very comfy!

HIKING YES, RUNNING NO. IM A REAL PERSON WITH A REAL REVIEW!
21 June 2020

I’ll start off with the benefits. I have went hiking between 8-10 miles comfortably about 3 times and no problems. Soles of feet may get sore but hey I’m hiking. Running is where the issues comes in. These shoes absolutely destroyed my heels and my left sole. They left quarter sized blisters (now holes) in both heels and a dime sized hole on left sole. First, I ran 3 miles when I destroyed my heels with the quarter sized blisters. I wore mole skin on my heels and wore the shoes everywhere for 3 months. I figured they had to be broken in now so they newness is gone. That means maybe they won’t destroy my heels. I ran 6 miles today and finished about 35 min ago with mole skin on both heels (just in case) and that’s how I got the dime sized hole in my sole. I was just ... MoreI’ll start off with the benefits. I was just beginning mile 3 whenever I had to physically take the left shoe off and run/jog with the Left shoe in my hand. Luckily at monument part if you don’t mind dodging geese poo in your sock/shoe you can run without your left shoe.

I owned these and they were good
31 January 2021

I was surprised to still see these are being made. They are really comfortable and I never had any trouble while wearing them (no sore feet, blisters or anything else). Usually I wore them doing multiple different things like working out in the gym, to doing everyday things, many miles on them. They held up good and I always loved the look of them, with the carbon fiber on the heal and alot of other small details (the Nike swoosh on the toe). They never really appeared dirty or beat up even though at the end I was wearing them while mountain biking as I use toe straps instead of clips for the exact reason of being able to wear sneakers instead of bike shoes that clip. Even started using them to wade while fly fishing in the heat of summer. Just wish they had more ... MoreI was surprised to still see these are being made. SIMPLY A GREAT SHOE
14 December 2015

Let's see, what can I tell you? First, let's get the only bad thing out of the way here. This show does NOT have removable insoles :( Okay, now we can move on. I have high arches. This means, I need a shoe with arch support. I left Nike years ago for the Brooks Ghost. At the time, Nike had simply narrowed their toe box too much, and I couldn't find any comfortable shoes, even though I have a narrow foot. But, their (meaning Brooks) 80's neon flashback design child, has ruined my interest in wearing the Ghost any longer :p ...hence, my return to Nike. I work in a warehouse 5-days a week, and since protective toed boots are not required, I am able to wear comfortable shoes. What does that mean? It means I get to wear these everyday, and my feet have held up well ... MoreLet's see, what can I tell you? First, let's get the only bad thing out of the way here. I work in a warehouse 5-days a week, and since protective toed boots are not required, I am able to wear comfortable shoes. What does that mean? It means I get to wear these everyday, and my feet have held up well putting in on average (according to fitbit) 9-11 miles a day walking around this warehouse on solid concrete floors. Now, anyone who has ever worked on concrete floors where you are either walking or standing your entire shift, will understand how important that previous statement was :) What I personally like about these shoes, is it's a style you can wear everyday, without looking like a clown just because you want to wear a comfortable style running shoe. On that note, as for running, ...well, I haven't ran in years now. So unfortunately, I can't provide any advice on how these would hold up for that. I can simply say, that these make a great everyday show :) Oh, and one last thing. In the picture online here, the Navy color looks kind of flat. Rest assured, the actual shoe has a much more vivid, and vibrant Navy Blue color to it :p

The right shoe
28 November 2019

Had a pair of Nike Advantage I literally wore the tread off I've had them so long....but they were the most comfortable sneakers ever! It was time for a new pair . I had been searching for months for the right shoe, style, comfort, color and price all are major factors for me. After finally finding one to fit the criteria....guess what? ...they didn't come in my size. I have a pretty big foot for a lady (11) so cute shoes are few and far between.. I notice the sneakers were offered in men's size with a few minor changes in color. So I went into the store tried them on and fell in love. I have issues with my left knee and of course I'm not making any medical claims, but this shoe definitely helped alleviate the problem with the much needed heel support that my old ... MoreHad a pair of Nike Advantage I literally wore the tread off I've had them so long....but they were the most comfortable sneakers ever! With the exception of not being cushy inside ( easy fix)...it is an excellent shoe overall.

Well Designed Shoe
26 January 2017

I love the good sole it has under the shoe, it looks well designed and durable. I was upset with other brands that looked fancy, but started to break apart in a few months. I only suggest that more E sizes be made available and not mostly D sizes for people that have wider feet like me. Durability of the sole of the shoe is very important - often times these parts of the shoe start to break apart first. I have yet to see just how durable it is - I will know in time just how long this shoe lasts me. I didn't like the reflective tape on top front side since I like to use this shoe on casual occasions. In fact, I painted it with a black permanent marker to disguise it. The Saucony brand I had before this started to break apart under the sole after the 5th time I wore ... MoreI love the good sole it has under the shoe, it looks well designed and durable.
