I would give them 5 stars except for the amount of work i needed to do to find the rite fix for the super loud squeeking they make after 2 weeks. Almost threw them out but read the reviews that they have been doing that for 15 years, bur you just have to fix them. Find the rite fix. Dont believe the ones that say drill or pop the chambers or soles. Dont believe the ones that say to cut the floor out. Just pull up the foam insole, and sprinkle some foot powder on top of the mesh. It will sift down to the air support and stop the squeek rite away. Now they are the best shoes ever!!

I got these shoes last Christmas, I had the New Balance 624 before that and these are an upgrade. Very stylish look; the swooping logo, the angled design, and the wide stance. These go great with any clothes.During the summer, I was the talk of the neighborhood party. When I would mow, all my neighbors were red with envy (of my stylish shoes, and my yard).During the spring and fall, these were perfect on walks with the wife, the shoes were a little tight at first, but after 2 walks they were perfect. My only complaint is that the laces came undone more than my old New Balance 624s.If you want to be the talk of the neighborhood on your lawn, your grilling skills, and your stylish "kicks" as the kids say, these are the shoes for you.

These Monarch 4 shoes are so comfortable. I usually buy a new pair every couple of years because they are comfortable yet durable. Unfortunately, the last few pairs I bought are squeaky and creaky. With the last pair I bought, the right shoe is squeakier than ever. I mean every step is a loud squeak, even when walking outside. The left shoe is quiet. I took out the insole, and it is still squeaky. There seems to be something rubbing together between the mid sole and the outer sole. The soles seems like they are glued together fine, but the noise says otherwise. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be purchasing these again.

I've been buying these Monarchs for years. I wear them 90% of the time, and I get a good 15 months out of a pair typically. I especially like all leather as you can wipe them clean with a gentle soap and they still look good (where the other styles have nylon which just doesn't easily clean up. I wash these leather shoes in the washer with an old white towel and this is how they come out (note that this pair is 14 months old so they're nearing end-of-life as bottom treads are starting to thin). These probably have another two months left. One thing about washing is give them a full week to air dry (lift the inner portion out so it thoroughly dries). I found that lifting the insole out some and thoroughly flooding the new shoe with foot powder gets in to the seams and minimizes that. After washing the squeak comes back.. so often more foot powder in the shoe is needed.
I have recently purchased a pair of Monarch Trainers. Very comfortable and they are wide enough for my feet (YAH!!!).I gave these 3 stars only because the last pair was worn completely out. I walk between 20,000 to 40,000 steps per day and my last pair was approximately a year old. With that kind of abuse I felt it was a well put together shoe.This new pair (with less than a month on them) I have already broken the memory foam inserts and these have to be the noisiest shoe I have ever worn. Grass, concrete, asphalt, carpet, dirt, sand - Does not matter what surface I am on, Squeek Squeek (Internally and not the soles) very loudly. People can hear me coming from a distance! So annoying and I can help but feel like this lead to the demise of the insert.
I implore anyone considering this shoes to PLEASE not purchase it.I have been buying this shoe for 10 years with great satisfaction up until this year. Not one, not two, but a whopping THREE pairs of these shoes have been super squeaky. One of the pairs, both squeak very loud and in a quiet office setting, everyone will be able to hear it. The other two pairs started out nice and quiet, only to both start squeaking on the right shoe only.Nike has clearly started producing shoes with quality defects. I am never buying this pair again.
I always got the impression that NIKE runners were leather. I had no idea it was made by recycled polyester. For me its one of the most comfortable runners I have ever worn. The ones I'm wearing now tend to make noise when I walk and my feet sweat from time to time. This type of runner is waterproof and very durable for the most part, thats what I have always liked.However, if it's not leather then I feel I'm paying to much for it. ($105)I have always loved the quality of clothing and foot wear from Marks, I love cotton clothing but absolutely hate polyester. Its cheap and you sweat in it a lot. In this case with my runners I don't feel I'm getting my moneys worth this time. To me Mark’s has always been a quality store of clothing, why carry polyester at all.
I love the Air Monarch IV!! I am on my 4th pair of them and will continue to buy them as long as they are available. They are tough and durable and they are really comfortable as it seems they have more cushioning and support than most other sneakers I have worn. I weight train and I run in them as well and they perform excellent in both contexts. I also have a clean pair that I use for going out casually as they look great. Also I love the fact that they are available in the Wide 4E width which is what I wear. Nike, please don’t stop making these shoes. In fact offer them in more colors in the Wide 4E width!
I wear these shoes for work as a delivery driver. I put a lot of miles on shoes, have flat feet that are hard on shoes, and need stable support in a shoe. I’ve tried many different shoes over the years and keep coming back to these. They have the best cushioned comfort combined with very good arch area/inside support of any shoe I’ve tried. I have LOTS of experience with these shoes. Seriously I’ve bought probably 20 pairs of them. With some the rubber on the bottom will start to separate after a few months. Super glue will fix that. The squeak usually occurs after a few months or harsh conditions such as walking in a lot of wet areas. The squeak is caused by the air chambers working loose and moving around.
