My shoes arrived this weekend. I was so excited. I've always loved this style, I remember owning a few pairs about 20+ years ago. Once I put them on I realized they are NOT breathable! My feet were instantly hot! I wore them for about 3 hours and I could feel the bottom of my feet getting blisters because there is not enough cushion. I also noticed that the heel is super wide and if you tighten up the shoe laces it makes the top of the shoe cut into your toes when you walk. So ultimately, you either have to have a loose shoe or have blisters on your toes where it creases every time you take a step.

I treat these more like dress flats than I do running/walking shoes. These follow the old-school fit of sneakers of the 70's era. As such, do not expect the level of cushion and support you get with modern-day Nike (like an free/fly/air model) I usually wear 6.5 in NIke's ( I have the fly knit and a number of other running shoes). Because there isn't the normal bulk of cushioning, my ankle/heel is swimming a bit. Others will size down a half size. I could have gone down to a size 6 (which I normally wear in heels). But the length would have me crushing my big toe up against the top. These are not as comfortable as my Nike Free shoes, but you get what you pay for (these are easily $30-$40 cheaper than my regular Nike purchases). I reach for these shoes pretty regularly though for going out. They go with everything, and don't cause blisters like my dress flats do, so I basically grab these (I got the black leather with white swoosh) everytime I need black flats (including with dresses, skirts, shorts, etc.). So don't go jogging or weight lifting in these.

I was so excited to see this blast from my past available again! I used to own a pair of Cortez and would probably still have them if the sole hadn't deteriorated. They were sold out everywhere, but I finally found the white with royal and varsity red at Nordstrom.com. From all the reviews I'd seen, I was confused on what size to order - some said too small, some said true to size, and a few even said runs big. ??? I found some at a local store in a different color to try on and the fit was 1/2 size smaller than my other Nike shoes (I have several Nike Free, AirMax all size 8). I ordered the Cortez in size 8 1/2 and they fit great. I would say that they are a narrow fit though. My feet are normal width, but hedging on the narrow side, so these fit comfortably.

While I like the style and the old school celebration of these shoes; I find the actual fit to be problematic. The opening is too wide and makes you constantly assess whether to tighten the laces (which would offer no immediate impact of the loose opening). While walking, the leather tends to rub o your toes mainly because the act of walking typically causes your feet to expand. But the leather is stiff and doesn't expand as your feet does. This is a sign of poor quality/workmanship. Overall the shoe is narrow. I guess when they released this style again, Nike failed to update and improve the fit. This shoe, like a lot of Nike products, are only for showmanship and aesthetics, not actual use.
I love these shorts, the length is shorter than typical gym shorts which for me is nice. I use them for lifting in the gym but also like to trail run in them. I was looking for a pair of shorts that had a cool look but were not super baggy like basketball shorts. These are perfect. I have a medium to larger body build with larger legs than say a guy thats a runner. 5'11 and 185. I can tell you tho I tried on the Smalls, Mediums and Larges and i usually wear Medium gym shorts or a 33 waist with jeans sometimes 34 depending on the brand and I was debating on even getting the size small bc i wanted a more athletic fit. I was in the dressing room doing squat motions to see how the shorts would ride up my legs as i bent my legs and to tell you the truth i was a little ... MoreI love these shorts, the length is shorter than typical gym shorts which for me is nice. But i did go with medium at the end and so far I'm glad i did. These things are awesome for a guy that like to hit the gym, do trail running or go play basketball. And one more side note: They are really comfortable with out boxers on so that to me was an added bonus so i sleep in these things too. I am deff going to get a few more pair in the future, too me they are a little expensive but I believe in buying quality gear and these are pretty nice.
I was absolutely ecstatic when browsing the Nordstrom website looking at shoes and found these Nike Cortez sneakers. It was truly a nostalgic moment. I had an exact pair in the 80's and loved them to the point of wearing them down to the bare bottom of the shoe. For several years I tried to purchase another pair but couldn't find the same Cortez shoe that I had once owned. It wasn't until 2 weeks ago that I found these white with the pink "SWOOSH" shoes just like I had in the 80's on the Nordstrom website! The fit and comfort feel the same way they did back then. I LOVE THEM. I feel like a young girl again and wear them every chance I can find. I recommend this style and shoe to everyone.
I have the black and white Cortez and I love them. Comfortable and classic. I bought the pink color and I don’t like them. They are more of a lilac pink, not a true blush pink. I also don’t like the fabric, I prefer gene leather ones. These are personal preference I would say. If you like a lilac purple/pink then these are for you. If you want a true, pretty blush pink these aren’t that color. Cute, but I returned them for a different pair/color that I like better. Fit is true to size, in these and most of all my shoes I am a 6.5, in Nike running shoes I am a 7.
I have loved the Nike Cortez since I was in high school. When I was in school, my original pair was stolen, so my grandma took me out and bought me a new pair. These were the shoes I loved dearly. I cleaned them with a nice leather cleaner, and I took extra special care of them. I wore the sides out of them and I fixed them with shoe glue, and when that stopped helping, I used Super Glue. I loved those shoes until the day they died, and have been looking for a new pair ever since. Well, I found these and I was oh so excited to see them again and ordered a pair. Tried them on this morning, and I was sorely disappointed. Both my feet and the shoe have changed. So, I am going to see what lies ahead for us. I get tired of being the one who has the bad feet and cannot ... MoreI have loved the Nike Cortez since I was in high school. These sneakers are perfect!!!! They are like new! I owned a pair in high school (more than 40 years ago) and thought that Nike stopped making the Cortez style. I was wrong! Thank you:)
