I have always been searching for a shoe that matched all my style, performance and comfort preferences. The Metcon 5 is that shoe! For the first time I have found a shoe that can check all the boxes for me. This will be a staple shoe for me and will be most frequent shoe in my rotation. I have always struggled with shoes that dig into my ankle and give some discomfort but the Metcon 5 has it dialed in! I used these during my normal exercise of weight lifting and cardio. Even while jumping and running these shoes stayed snug and did not slip at all. They have great rubber grip on the bottom and the top mesh is nice and breathable. Whenever I exercise I can only marvel at how comfortable they feel. Though I have not worn cross trainers in the past, I will be from this point on given how great these shoes are. Right out of the box the Metcon 5 were comfortable enough to wear all day. They have a breathable fabric upper and a thick cushy sole. They were very flexible but didn’t cause any toe pinching common in new leather shoes. I thought the wide fluted heel was awkward looking at first, but then I realized how it made my foot more stable. It prevents your foot from rolling sideways and possibly causing a ankle injury. There isn’t much for traction on uneven terrain except for the large flexible joints below the ball of the foot. I have never had a new shoe that I was able to stand at work all day without having to switch them out with my old broken-in shoes at some point.These shoes are awesome for walking, possibly running, working out in the gym, or wearing to work indoors if you have to be on your feet a lot. They didn’t quite match my khakis, but they would look great if you were wearing dark scrubs. They had great grip on smooth surfaces.Some of the downsides of the shoe is that it offers zero protection from above. (If you drop something on your foot, you are going to feel it. If something wet gets on top of the shoe, it will soak through to your sock and foot.) These shoes are snug and probably wouldn’t be great for someone with wide feet or who prefer a roomier shoe. Due to the minimal traction, these shoes aren’t the best for outdoor use. Concrete and asphalt will wear the sole down rather quickly. I don’t think I would even consider taking them on a mountain trail.All in all, I would buy another pair once I wear this pair out, although I think it is going to take a long time to to wear down that sole!

A little struggle for a big pay off. These are seriously so comfortable. Big spring feel, very spongey soft step but are still firm and provide great support.
