They are great, but with a few kinks. I’ve always been a good 10.5 in Nike. I had to return the 10.5 of these because they were too big, both in length and width. Also, I’ve always liked that Nike has the right size laces. Well, these are too long. So, a bit disappointing in that sense, but they are indeed really good. I had just bought the Free Metcon 5s and then realized the 6s were already out. I got to try the 5s, though, and they were much stiffer than these, which make the 6s great! I use these shoes only for HIIT and for that you definitely need them to be a bit softer. They also need to have more support in the forefoot, as you are jumping all the time in HIIT. I think they are finally a great shoe for HIIT, although Nike should make a model that has even more forefoot support.

I am always excited when Nike releases a new version of this shoe, but these updates are a huge fail for anyone that co sliders themselves an an athlete. The toe box is wide, way too wide for anyone who is doing a lot of side to side movements like ice skaters or side lunges. My upper portion of my foot moves all over the place because of these changes. Also, the lace fasteners have been replaced with strings, making it impossible to tighten them. For workouts with lots of movement, I need to feel secure in my shoe— these fasteners do not allow for that and will likely rip soon. The material in the upper sole was also better on the five— it was studied making it more secure for lots of rapid movement. I swear by my Metcons. Please go back to the design of the 4s or 5s. They were much much more durable.

I’m not sure why the new Free Metcon 6’s are getting such bad reviews. I previously had two pairs of the 5’s and love them. They were perfect for training in the gym, especially for squats, deadlifts, and calf raises. I decided to go to the store and try them on before I bought them and they felt fantastic. I have worn them to the gym several times to work out my legs and in my opinion, they are better than the 5’s in every way. For me, they were true to size, I wear the same size in 6 as I did in the 5. I liked them so much. I just bought a second pair in a different color. So, if you are on the fence about these, I suggest to go for it. You will not be disappointed.

I've owned several of the previous generations of the Free Metcon, which I've always loved. I've always thought they were the perfect gym shoe. When I tried these on I literally said "Wow", they are SO comfortable. I've liked versions in the past but I love these! They have some stretch, but also feel snug and keep me stable. Wishing I stuck with my normal shoe size on this version, I went half a size up on these which I've done for all of my previous Free Metcon's but that doesn't feel necessary for this version. Overall, I've been loving these for my high-intensity workouts and the little bit of running that I do as a warmup!
I tried this shoe out for different exercises and it always provides the right amount of cushioning and stability I need to get through my workouts. Some exercises I have done are some heavy lifts (between 145-275 lbs.) & HIIT cardio (burpees, box jumps, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, etc.) and they feel amazing! I noticed that the heel feels more cushioned compared to the Free Metcon 5, so they feel even smoother on my warm up runs/jogs on the treadmill (1-2 miles). The Free Metcon 5's felt a tad bit more breathable in the toebox area throughout my longer workouts, but the 6's still feel really good and keep me comfortable! These are an improvement from its predecessor and I highly recommend if you are looking for an option that you can do a ton of different ... MoreI tried this shoe out for different exercises and it always provides the right amount of cushioning and stability I need to get through my workouts. Im a gym bro, been lifting happily for 14 years in my vans and decided to make the switch to a more functional shoe to aid in the different types of training I want to get into. After 4-6 weeks of use and properly breaking in the shoe, I can confidently say these are terrible.I sized down half a size which was the right move and they still don’t fit well. Heel slip is INSANE. I can’t even walk through the gym without getting angry in the heat being generated at my heel from all the friction. Toe box is pretty wide yet is causing my big toes to bruise and form in-growns… yuck.I would return them if I could but checked out with Apple Pay and didn’t get sent an order # or receipt because of a typo in my default email address I didn’t know I had lol. Didn’t want to join the ON crew but that brand looks like the move. Avoid these, they suck!
I have had multiple colors of each version. I loved the 5s and had 4 pair but I noticed they were a bit narrow in the toe box. I do have wide feet so keep that in mind. I don’t wear these throughout the day, 90% of the time they are worn only during workouts. The 6s are back to a wider toe box, more arch support while somehow feeling like a softer sole. They’re great for workouts, stable enough for lifting and flexible enough for light running and plyometrics. I will buy other colors, because that’s what I do 🤷 as these are the best Metcon Free version yet. I only wish they would allow customization similar to Metcons.
I am glad to see that this version has the loop in the back and on the tongue to help me get these sneakers on. Love that (they were kept out in some of the previous versions). But I do not agree with the decision on using those tiny string-like things to pull the laces through. They will not stand the test of time like previous versions. I expect they are trying to cut costs while not cutting the price. I love Metcons. I have about 20 pair (I do not like the ones that have the rubber up the side). But this version would be perfect if it were not for the things to hold the laces in place. Change out those lace hooks and add more colors and this will be perfect. I was also very happy with the generous color selection, but would love to see a nice emerald/kelly green.
I am a Metcon Free fan through and through. I’ve had the last several models of the shoe and have never had any issues. I was excited to be gifted this shoe for my birthday. Unfortunately, the material on them was not the aesthetic (they appear like neoprene) I was looking for, but knowing the comfortability of previous models I was excited to get to work. Within only a few workouts, I noticed the sole starting to lift. After two months, I decided to send them back as the sole was completely lifted on both shoes. I’m unsure why they did not hold up like the previous models but I think it could be because the sole was not one solid piece and the thinner bottom sole is what lifted.
I used these in the gym a few times now. My workouts mainly include weight training and plyometrics. The sole feels more flexible and the heel feels even more cushioned than a previous version I had. These updates were clutch for burpees and box jumps! The heel is super stable which is helpful for any weight training I’m doing. I haven’t run in them, but I wouldn’t want to run more than two miles or so because of the flatter heel. I’d avoid these if that’s what you’re looking to do in them. They fit true to size and the upper portion is very comfortable. It has passed all my grueling sessions so far and am really pleased with their performance!
