As an active 26-year-old, I tried out Zoom Pegasus 40 from Nike. Having used Nike Pegasus models in the past, I wondered how this latest iteration would perform. To start off, the design is really cool! The Air Zoom Pegasus 40 boasts a sleek and modern look that instantly caught my attention. The beautiful cream color mixed with the orange bottom provide a power-punching duo of awesomeness! The Nike logos on sides both offer a rich, street-style look, but keeping the same traditional feel. Let’s not forget the small attention to the detail when it comes to the winky face placed on the tongue and foot sole of the shoe, both added a nice bit of flare and pizzaz! Its seamless mesh upper provides excellent breathability, keeping my feet cool during workouts, while the lacing system offer a snug-ish and customizable fit, ensuring my foot feels secure without any undue pressure points.I've used Pegasus models in the past and comparing it to those, the Air Zoom Pegasus 40 feels lighter on the foot. In comparison to the Air Zoom Pegasus 37, I found the 40 to have slightly more responsive cushioning and improved energy return. In terms of performance, the Air Zoom Pegasus 40 is fairly moderate in various areas. It's true that the shoe's updated midsole foam provides a smooth and supportive ride, making it suitable for both short sprints and long-distance runs. Long mile runs at the gym were a breeze for me! It felt easy to breathe on my foot as well. Not only that, but I also enjoyed the shoe's ability to absorb impact and maintain stability, which allowed me to maintain a consistent stride throughout my workouts. However, it falls a little flat in terms of everyday use. After working long 8-10 hours at my job, I felt a hindrance around my foot despite working the same shift many times before. Maybe it's due to the fact the shoe is bulkier than I had anticipated. In the past, 9.5-size shoes had fit me perfectly, but the Pegasus 40 feels a little too big and bulky. The outsole of the Air Zoom Pegasus 40 features a durable rubber with a waffle pattern, offering exceptional traction on both dry and wet surfaces. Whether I was running on asphalt or tackling a trail, I could easily rely on the shoe for firm gripiness. Compared to the Air Zoom Pegasus 38, the 40 demonstrated a noticeable improvement in traction, especially during wet conditions.Overall, the Air Zoom Pegasus 40 is a nice addition to Nike's lineup, offering an impressive combination of comfort, performance, and durability. What I liked most was its sleek design and improved traction; it delivers a great experience for active people like myself. What I didn't like was the bulkiness of it. I would rather have less cushioning in the sole to provide a slimmed down version. Nonetheless, whether you're a dedicated runner or someone who enjoys athletic activities, the Air Zoom Pegasus 40 is definitely worth considering. It builds on the strengths of its predecessors, surpassing them in a lot areas to provide a fun ride.

As an avid runner, the Pegasus has consistently remained as a go-to in my running shoe rotation. I have found every past iteration of the shoe to stay true to what makes the Pegasus so great: its comfort, durability, and performance. The Air Zoom Pegasus 40 continues this tradition. While it is not the fastest shoe, it is perfect for easy days and long runs. They're also light enough, bouncy enough, and responsive enough to give runners the freedom to do speed workouts in them if they so desire. The outsole has just enough rubber to make them last many many miles without sacrificing weighing down the shoe.Whenever friends have expressed a desire to start running and asked me for running shoe recommendations, my answer is always Pegasus. I am happy that Nike continues to make the Pegasus, and look forward to each new iteration!

Overall, I really enjoy these shoes. Here is a little more information about some of the features of the shoes:Style/Design: The shoes have a black mesh upper, with soft white soles and a white Nike swoosh down both sides. Good quality black laces and black rubber outsole designs on the bottoms of the shoes make for a comfortable and snug fit and a relatively durable bottom that will hold up to some wear. There are no air bubbles or weird fad things in the sole. It's a more classic and simple design, which fits my style very well. They are lightweight, so it doesn't feel like I'm putting extra effort in just to move my feet around. I appreciate that the only words on the outsole were small and not the size of a sign. The only big advertising emblem was the Nike swoosh.Fit: The fit was good. I wear a size 13, and the sizing feels accurate. I was able to wear them all day without the backs of the shoes rubbing my heels raw like previous Nike shoes I've tried. I could do with just a tad more arch support, but it isn't necessary. I did notice at first that both feet felt slightly angled to the inside, like they weren't completely flat, but this has gone away after a few days of wearing.Comfort: The shoes were comfortable right out of the box, and I was able to wear them all day without any issues. The lacing was snug, the heels are stiff, and they are comfortable to exercise in. The white portion of the sole is soft and shock absorbing, and thick enough to handle my heavier weight.Liked most: The simple straightforward classic shoe design, with classic colors that weren't flashy or attention drawing. I appreciated the lack of gimmick "features".What would I change: Brand new, it sounds like you're walking around on something sticky wherever you walk. It doesn't feel that way, but it sounds like it, especially on concrete. Every step makes it sound like you're peeling your foot off a sticky surface. So they aren't silent. I expect this characteristic will go away as the sole becomes more worn. It has diminished already on some surfaces.Overall, I would recommend these shoes to a friend if this look was their style, and the price was right.

I always thought I had narrow to average width feet, until recently. I was happy to try these Pegasus 40s in the wide size - the first time I've ever owned wide shoes. For anyone that feels their feet are on the border of regular and wide, I would recommend trying the wide version. They were roomy in the toe box, but not as excessively as I was anticipating. I usually like to wear thin socks, but if I wear thicker socks with these they feel pretty much perfect. The only issue I had with the wide fit would be the ankle area; I have fairly thin ankles so that part felt slightly awkward, but if I tinker with the lacing it's not really a problem.Really not much to complain about in the Pegasus 40. I love the combination of Zoom cushioning and react foam - it really optimizes responsiveness, and it really shines in the forefoot. The design looks fantastic - I'm a sucker for the all white and obsidian trim combination. The oversized swoosh outline, and the updated minimalistic lacing loops give this shoe a sleek and ultra modern aesthetic. The upper is soft and breathable, and the extra padding and security of the tongue was a thoughtful touch that I really appreciated. As an everyday walking or short/mid distance running shoe, you can't go wrong with the Pegasus 40.
Once I received the shoes and tried them in they were a little bit tight just because of the way they came laced. But once i loosened the laces to my liking the shoe fit like a glove it didn’t take any breaking in to feel like the shoe contours to my foot. This is the first shoe I’ve worn that don’t fit me tight coming straight from the box and it made the experience of having the shoe that much better. The overall feel for the shoe is incredible I would say this is the most comfortable shoe I’ve worn. This is because it’s got so much cushion when I step there’s no hard impact. The overall feel for the shoe is incredible I would say this is the most comfortable shoe I’ve worn. This is because it’s got so much cushion when I step there’s no hard impact. There were some points where I continued to run errands because I didn’t feel any discomfort or tiredness. The overall design of the shoe is also immaculate. There is a sufficient amount of cushion to protect the foot but it isn’t too much to where it feels uncomfortable to walk. The shoe isn’t narrow like other Pegasus which I love. There are a lot of little holes within the shoe to ensure your foot is breathing and has air coming in and out to prevent any swelling and smell. The shoe was well thought out and comes with premium materials that will be durable. The materials are all light but I don’t ever have a doubt that the shoe will rip or fail on me. There was enough space in the toe room of the shoe which also allowed wearing the shoe to be comfortable. The shoe was 100% the most comfortable shoe I’ve worn and I used it for different purposes. I used it for work at my office job which made it feel like I was wearing not much due to the lightweight of the shoe. I also wore the shoe to the gym when using the treadmill and running around my neighborhood and even on the first wear it was comfortable and smooth. I used it to lift weights as well and it was incredible. I used it to run errands and again my legs were not hurting like they usually would thanks to the lightweight design and cushion on the shoe. If there were one thing I would change or tweak it would be making the laces a little bit longer that way I have more leeway to make the shoe looser but still have enough string to tie the shoe. I found it hard to tie the shoe because there was not much string left to tie the shoe. Nonetheless, I loved the overall design of the shoe, the fact that it’s lightweight, and that it’s so comfortable!
Nike had a good thing going with versions 36 and 37 of this shoe. The peg was lightweight and springy, which made it a fantastic versatile trainer. Version 39 leaned more toward the cushioned side of things, so it was good for easy runs and strides, with a nice lockdown with the upper. The upper update on version 40 makes the shoe more voluminous, and the stretchy fabric does not lock down the foot as well as the mesh on all the previous versions, not even the last version. The midsole and outsole still feel the same, but it almost feels like by widening and lengthening the last on the peg, the shoe just does not fit properly at all. I tried both a size 9 and a size 9.5 in this shoe. One was too small, and the other one was too roomy. The shoe is still fine for casual wear and gym work, but it does not feel like a performance running shoe in any capacity.

The Peg 40’s are incredible shoes. The suede upper makes it super easy to slide into and provides extra comfort. The Air Zoom units and cushioned midsole make transitions smooth as butter. I love the lacing lacing system and the spread out eyelets make for a casual look. I wear my Pegs mostly for walking around town as they make a great shoe to pair with jeans or just about any outfit. The all-white colorway is a fresh look that can be worn to the gym or out to dinner. The knit upper has a unique texture and is very breathable. The insole is also soft and provides extra cushioning. While the Peg 40’s provide good wrap-around support across the foot, they could use more support underfoot for longer walks or runs. All in all, these are some of the best shoes I’ve worn.
