This shoe has met my needs like few others. The high quality of the materials, the ruggedness of the treads, and the overall build come together to make it close to my dream shoe. The back strap on the Trail 3 was somewhat fragile and the upgrade in this model is appreciated. My only complaint about this model is the lack of an all black version. Like other fans of this shoe, I'm hoping future models include an all black version. I am also hoping that future models include a design that is minimalistic and is therefore more acceptable in the work place.

Bad design, hard to get in.

Nike is my favorite brand. I am giving it one star because this model has a bad design/manufacturing flaw. Let me explain, I bought size 9.5 US of this model (my usual size) during thanksgiving and was very excited to try it when it arrived. Despite all the effort, it was so difficult to insert my leg into it as the flap on the top was stitched/glued all the way to the middle and wouldn't make enough room to insert my leg. Then I returned it and got size 10 assuming it will have more space to get in, but the same problem, and I had to force very hard to get in even though it is .5 more than my regular size. I am returning this one as well as it feels like they made a mistake of sticking that flap at the top to reduce the opening so water can not get in but it makes ... MoreNike is my favorite brand. I hope someone from Nike reads this and convey it to their designer to fix this issue. I still like the look of this design, but it is unusable to me.

Exactly what I was looking for!
3 May 2023

I bought these shoes to function as my road and trail runners/hiking shoes. The reviews are a mixed bag so I was a little nervous ordering them without trying anything on. I have always worn an 11.5 in Nike shoes so that is what I ordered.I am blown away by how much I love these shoes. The fit is snug but comfortable, and I found that the feel only gets better over time. The soles are shockingly springy. They are no warmer than a regular hiking shoe (which was a concern of mine being in Texas). They are also 100% waterproof. The best trail at my local state park requires crossing a river on rocks that are mostly submerged by water. I can walk through water up to the top of the GORETEX material with completely dry feet. The Pegasus Trail 4 GORETEX meets all my ... MoreI bought these shoes to function as my road and trail runners/hiking shoes. Excellent bad weather shoe
25 November 2022

Fit great and keep my feet dry in rain and snow. Being wind proof they're great for winter walking and running. The cushioning is just right making for a comfortable experience. I also find the tread great for running on uneven surfaces like the side of a hill. You do have to make sure you don't over tighten the laces around the midsole or as your feet swell during walking and running it can stress your foot and be uncomfortable. Nice bad weather shoe!

Great (but not perfect) trail shoe
18 October 2022

First, the good. For a trail running shoe, which can often feel overly bulky and rigid, this is about as nimble and comfortable as they come. They also look great — my boyfriend, who does not run, almost bought a pair for himself, and they’ve gotten compliments from strangers as well. But the biggest reason I upgraded from the Pegasus Trail 2s was the promise of rain-proof Gore-Tex, and these largely deliver. My first run in these was on a drizzly morning trail after a big storm the night before, with plenty of puddles and mud, and I did not find my feet drenched at the end as they almost always were even with other trail runners. That being said….The less good. Even though the shoes do a very good job of keeping water out, they do an unfortunately good job of ... MoreFirst, the good. That being said….The less good. Even though the shoes do a very good job of keeping water out, they do an unfortunately good job of keeping water in as well. About a mile in I started to feel moisture inside one shoe and feared that the shoes weren’t as waterproof as I had hoped. It turns out it wasn’t the outside of my socks I was feeling, but the inside. Definitionally, Gore-Tex isn’t the most breathable material, so any sweat that builds up inside will get trapped in greater amounts compared to non-coated shoes.Ultimately though, I bought these shoes for a very specific purpose: to run in wet conditions without worrying about soaking wet socks and the blisters that accompany them. And in that respect, I think these are the best waterproof trail shoes on the market right now. I’m looking forward to giving them a try in snowy conditions as well this winter.

Great for plantar fasciitis and other foot problems.
22 May 2023

This is a great shoe for people who have plantar fasciitis and other foot problems that involve ball of the foot. They are light weight and waterproof and worked great in the forest and in the rain. I did need to buy a half size up from my normal size. I wear size 11, but had to order 11 1/2’s. They are also a little bit wider in the toe and ball of foot area. Like another reviewer said, they are not that good looking, but they feel so good it did not matter. I love these shoes and got them in several colors .

Shoes a beast, and it looks good doing it
29 January 2023

I took the Nike Pegasus Trail 4 Gortex for a 10 mile run with roughly 2,100 ft of elevation at a local State Forest. Went through dirt trees to gravel, ice on gravel, snowy trail, hard packed ice trail, frozen river crossings, streams, unbroken trail, mushy snow.. they even felt great on regular road. I was very surprised after going through unbroken shin deep snow my feet managed to stay dry. Very enjoyable ride. I was hesitant about purchasing this shoe because of the previous reviews about traction and slipping etc. but they’re awesome in the worse conditions this area has and I’m glad they were on sale. Looking forward to few less strenuous miles.

So happy with my purchase
6 May 2023

I bought these almost 2 weeks ago and absolutely love them. I walk my dog 2-3 times a day for 1-3 miles a walk. I live in northern IL USA, while I haven’t been able to test them on snow, they hold up in rain extremely well as advertised. I walked through a steady light rain and wet grass for about 30 minutes last night and my feet stayed completely dry. Using them on the sidewalk/road so much I fear I’ll wear most of the good tread off but we will see come winter. I have yet to completely submerge my foot in water with them on, but I also don’t intend to. The size fits true as I ordered my usual and it’s perfect. They aren’t too warm for insulated shoes either. Definitely still lighter than hiking boots. Might buy another pair for backups!

Warm, dry, but a bit narrow
19 January 2023

I bought them for winter road running and they fit the bill. They have kept my feet warm and dry all winter so far (New England weather). The sole is starting to wear as expected for a trail show being used for road work I run. 25-30 miles a week). I would only ask they offer a wide width. They are a bit narrow for me like all Nike shoes unfortunately, but they do soften up after a few minutes running. Some heel lock issues but resolved with tight lacing at the top eyelets.I get usually 4 months per shoe and expect these to get me to spring. And I probably will get a new pair for next winter (offer a wide width please!).
