Less is more in the Nike Free RN 5.0, an ideal performer for low-mileage sprints. This minimal-material shoe returns to its roots as a running shoe, as a stripped-down upper with single-layer mesh is stretchy to feel like a second skin. The lightweight midsole with less foam makes it easy to hit the ground running. Stretch upper designed to fit like a second skin. Lower foam density helps you feel connected to the ground. Heel-to-toe grooves allow multi-directional flexibility. Asymmetrical lacing oriented to the side relieves pressure on your instep. Bootie construction integrates the tongue for a snug, seamless fit. Absence of a heel counter frees your foot but still locks you down. Sockliner gives you a closer, more connected feeling to the ground. Rubber pods on the forefoot and heel enhance traction. 6 mm heel-to-toe offset (14 mm forefoot, 20 mm heel) X3012- anatomical last.

I recently purchased this pair despite the negative reviews I read in other places and felt like I needed to write my own to address the things people complained about. Most of the reviews came from people who don’t actually run, just buy running shoes for aesthetics. This is by far the best, most functional and supportive Freerun design Nike has ever made, and I have purchased Nike Free Run’s every single time I need running shoes for years now. I have slim feet, and the arch support is better than ever. They are a little snug, but they’re kind of meant to be worn without socks. Which is not a problem, the insole comes out allowing the shoe and insole to air out and dry properly so no smelly shoes. I’ve been running almost everyday my entire life. My short runs are usually 1-2 miles around my neighborhood, long runs are 4-5 miles through woody trails. The heel provides the perfect amount of cushion for running on concrete. They sole is a little thin for running on rocky trails, but not bad. I like that the shoe fits like an actual sock, so there’s no tongue that moves around. I don’t have to constantly stop to adjust my shoe. The entire shoe is extremely flexible. It’s like you’re running with cushiony socks. The tab in the back makes it easier to pull the shoe on, it’s also shaped to your Achilles, and it’s padded which keeps your foot from sliding in and out so no blisters. There’s a strip across the front of the shoes by the toes that was a bit uncomfortable the first time I wore them and was almost a deal breaker, but after breaking it in it’s no longer an issue. Definitely not a shoe for someone with wider feet, as the shoe laces are mostly for show. They serve no real purpose except to tighten the shoe, but the shoe is super snug as it is. Typically, I size up one whole size with Nike, but this pair runs just right. Best pair of Nike Free Run so far.

Feel great....once you get them on!

As the title of my review suggests, once you get these shoes on your feet, they are great! Getting them on can be a bit of an issue. The tongue of the shoe and the top of the shoe are all one piece so maneuvering the foot far enough into the shoe so you can pull up the back is a challenge. There is literally no give whatsoever in the top of the shoe. It would be helpful to have a small loop at the top of the heel back in order to pull them on. Otherwise, you may need a shoehorn. However, once they are on your feet, you will love them. I wear them on my daily 2 mile walks in my neighborhood and they feel great. Very light and lots of support.

Great aesthetic design and functionally does the job pretty well.

Great for short runs... If you are really into barefoot running, this shoe will not disappoint you. It has got the right amount of arch support and has only 6mm elevation which makes it more suitable for lifting and cross-training. I did not have any problem with the fit , although it wasn't snug it never feels loose. It's true to size. Slightly on the stiffer side but you will feel no pain with proper form.

Great shoe for an average runner
3 April 2020

I recently noticed I was getting some foot pain from my running shoes, so I quickly searched for a new pair. I'm a college student, so not the fiscally stable, so I found this to be a very good price for seemingly good shoes. I enjoy running but I'm no marathon runner, and these seem to be a "great fit" haha. The laces are borderline redundant because the shoe has a very much fly knit feel which is really nice. tight to the foot and the bubbly sole provides very good support.

Love them
23 May 2020

I hate exercising in shoes. I have a flat arch, an ankle with bone floating around in it and knees destroyed by netball and shoes seem to make everything worse. So normally I run in flat plimsoles, I would go barefoot but it's just not possible on hot roads. I tried these and can run without my ankle brace for the first time. I did 5km without pain in my ankle for the first time ever. I was worried that I would end up with sore arches since I normally have no support but these were fine. I love a white shoe but they do get dirty easy, haven't seen how they wash yet though

Poor quality
12 May 2020

I bought the shoes based on my search for a light weight shoes. But when i tried on, it felt snug but that is not the reason i returned them. It felt like it was made of canvas material, very stiff. It was fashionable looking and was inexpensive (a little over $50.00 with shipping), so i tried to talk myself into keeping. Two days later i tried again in the house and decided that I would never wear it, so i returned the shoes, something i rarely do. Style is something you go for, this is it, but comfort and quality is what you are looking for, this shoes will not do.

Super uncomfortable !
24 January 2020

These shoes felt like I was walking on rocks. From the moment I slipped both of them on I was really confused. I will say it does have great arch support but they didn't feel comfortable. I do not have flat feet and I am typically a size 10 in all Nike shoes. I didn't get a half size up because the highest size in this style shoe is 10. When I tried them on they were super tight by the big toe area on both feet and the heel area even felt rough. I really don't recommend. But they are super cute.

Uncomfortable and expensive
19 January 2020

Initially when trying on, they felt great but after wearing twice, I couldn’t persist any longer. Main issue was with the clear rubber part on the upper part near the toe. I was wearing my correct size but given the stretch of the shoe my toes were sinking back and then rubbing and sitting behind the rubber instead of being secured BY the rubber. Was very irritating and distracting. Feel ripped off to have spent $180 on a shoe that I can’t return as it took a few wears to realise this discomfort.

Yuck!

Not a fan of this top. The color is much more greenish than it looked on screen. I could live with and enjoy that, but the fit was so unflattering that I had the top back in the box and ready to return less than 10 minutes after it arrived. It runs smaller than other Nike tops I have purchased or tried on. Usually, an XL fits and looks great, but in this case, while the top fit, it looked awful, very clingy with distinct headlights showing despite a padded bra (which I would not wear while exercising). No way to fit anything other than a sports bra under this one, which means your hi-beams will be on full display. Also, it was very tight in the arms and through the shoulders. Nike, you make women's athletic attire. . . .athletic women have muscles in their chests ... MoreNot a fan of this top. The color is much more greenish than it looked on screen. Also, the fabric is very good for working out in. Otherwise, though, this top is unwearable.

the only reason i'm glad i ordered these, is that now i can stop lusting after them. not sure what i would consider worst feature to be; how cheaply made it appears, or how bad it stinks. wasn't the first nike i received, that smelled bad either. is it the material or storage? if it's a contest, i'm going w cheap foreign materials. also the color looked soft online, but neon in person. if you still want to hear more, i ordered up a half size to 7 1/2, and it appeared plenty big, maybe even too big, in the very short time i had it on. but not putting back on my feet again to confirm. yuck!
