Your initial impact is basically absorbed and as you rock forward there is a light spring in your step. I wouldn't call it 'bouncy" like others have, but I am fairly light so compressing the foam is harder for me. However, if you are a fore/midfoot striker (like me) much of that benefit from the extra stack height is negated. An additional side effect of the stack is some instability and some feeling of being too tall. The first few runs/walks it does feel almost like you are on stilts and need to relearn to walk/run which can be a bit awkward. Even after getting used to it, you notice you can't quite turn as fast or bank in these shoes without some side slippage. As a result of this instability, Nike has to have an overbuilt upper that doesn't breath quite as well as some of their other shoes and a massive base which you stand on.This is seen clearly is how much the midsole extends back as can be seen in the product photos. If you are wearing these as an everyday shoe for pain or purely for comfort that extension feels amazing, but it does make it difficult to drive in. If you pivot with your foot between pedals, this surface has zero outsole as the midsole bubbles out and causes excessive wear on your driving shoe. Of course Nike doesn't expect these to be used as a lifestyle shoe, so it's not their fault, but if you are the type of person who enjoys the comfort provided by running shoes for everyday use, be aware that how much you drive might affect the lifespan of the shoes.For me, I will probably be returning them for that reason. I don't run enough to justify such a high cost on the shoe, and wearing down the driving shoe as a lifestyle pair doesn't sit right with me. However, if you are a heel-strike runner putting in long miles, like others have said this is probably an endgame option for you.

I have bi-lateral foot drop from a back injury that unfortunately was not fully amendable to surgery but improved greatly after my procedure n 2013. I am 6’2”and weigh 217 lbs so I guess must would call me a clydesdale in the running world…. Lol… So I need a shoe with ample cushion and for me this has been the best one so far … have been in other brands too Brooks, Hoka and Acics which I did ok in but these for me are the best. These Nikes along with my McDavd level 3 ankle supports allow me to run decently for a 55-year-old guy. I do11 minute miles for 5-8 per run 2-3/week which is slow but I am ok with since I enjoy the run… I combine this with weight lifting and HITT type of exercises with Metcins and it fine for me. Previously I have been running with the Nike Epic React Flyknit 2 for about a year and have finally beat them up quite a bit.The first few runs I hated how plushy it was, definitely something to get used to at first. However, after maybe 20 miles running with the shoes I finally began to love them. I also had shredded the exterior padding on the inner heel collar which I assume is due to a wider outsole that must be hitting it. I think people are bashing the durability too much, maybe Nike produced some bad runs? Not sure but mine have held up to the test of time. I've been wearing mine almost daily since they came out and the midsoles are a little torn up sure just because the foam is a bit delicate, but they're almost as bouncy as the day I got them and much more comfortable after being broken in. They don't look that great anymore since the flyknit on these is almost impossible to clean so I've basically given up ever since I got a shoe full of mud one time. I'll probably try throwing them in the wash or something, I tried the new ones on but they're too warm for me, I prefer the older more breathable version that I already have even though it's beat up. Went from running in Odyssey React (which I really liked) to Pegasus 37 (also liked, but not quite as much). After 260 miles and a half marathon in the P37s, I was in the market for some new shoes and new I wanted to go back to a thicker React cushioning model. Decided to try these and, 80 miles in, couldn't be happier. These shoes are like running on pillows. The React foam gives solid energy return on every step. Actually running faster times with less effort. I was concerned that the shoes would be bulky and slow me down a bit, but they don't feel bulky at all and I've actually run PRs at both 5k and 10k in them. It will be too much for many, but why not offer something just off the charts in terms of softness tailored for heel strike walking. Like if I wanted to reduce the impact on my knees and hips and even neck and head from walking or running -- akin to running on a springy treadmill or rubberized track -- give me an option to prevent that wear and tear. This is the best on the market but still I think the technology is there to make it even softer, squishier, more "deflation" at the strike. Like a spring that collapses on strike and releases when you push off I suppose.Bottom line: these are great cushion but not insane.(these fit like all Nike running shoes--run 1 size larger than Brannock)
Over the past several years, I have been running in Asics Nimbus 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20. I then switched to Brooks Ghost 11, 12, 13 (waiting for delivery of Ghost 14's). I decided to try the Nike Invincible after reading MANY reviews. (I had tried Hoka Mach, but that shoe irritated the outside of my ankle.) The Invincible's "squishy" sole was touted by most reviewers. Others purchased the shoe as an "easy day" injury prevention shoe. I had concerns when reviewers mentioned they found the shoes to be "slippery".I am a 71 year old, 5 foot 10 inch,155 pound male. I do not find it to be "faster" than other trainers. The sole make up has neither hurt or enhanced the hip issues. I would not recommend the shoe for trails, uneven surfaces, lateral movements, or speed/racing. I do not regret purchasing the Invincible. I cannot address the shoe's durability at this time.
