This lens is a compact beauty. Just a little bigger than the Nikkor-AF 35-70mm with the same aperture range and smaller than the 28-85mm lens, the 24mm wide-end of the zoom range is perfect for indoor group photography. This lens paired with the Nikon Speedlite SB-27 is a combo which is hard to beat. The auto zoom head of the SB-27 matches the range of the lens 24-50mm, perfect. The "D" version of the lens which I have, has the communicates the distance to the flash to help make perfect flash photography. This lens is definitely one to look at for those parties and get-togethers indoors.

Lens was purchased to better handle wide angle needs as my main lens is a 35-70 F-2.8 Nikon Zoom. I have only used this new lens for a few pictures on my first roll. These were photo's of a home interior. The 24 mm setting enabled more a better representation and it was easy to make normal shots without a lens change. For my use it will be a very handy lens.

Images are not sharp. Perhaps it was my copy but could not get anything in focus using my D3 and D700. Otherwise the focal length range 24-50mm is great for so many uses. And also the overall size of the lens is great bc it is a small lens. Would not bother purchasing this lens even if so cheap.
