Have it it long enough to know it suits my needs! I have been very pleased with what this camera has to offer! It has a special moon setting and bird watching setting that have come in quite handy. The bird setting gives you a one-touch quick zoom to bring in the bird. And the zoom!! I find myself using the camera instead of a pair of binoculars. I do highly recommend you purchase the Photographer's Guide to the Nikon P600, especially if you are going to this camera from a DSLR. You will have some learning to do on the focus. I have adjusted to the slight delay, and I have also adjusted to the fact that when shooting in Continuous mode, it is going to take several seconds for the camera to process your shots. I love the in camera picture corrections and filters that can be used. I have fallen in love with the vignette filter! I was taught to get the best picture in camera so I would not have to spend time "fixing" a picture in a photo shop program. All of the pictures posted below are straight from the camera, using it's built in filters where you see fish-eye and vignette. My DSLR along with it's 30-700mm lens is going to a friend. That lens cannot compete with the zoom and quality I am getting with this camera. It would take a considerable amount of $$ to get a lens with this zoom. I am not willing to pay that nor tote around a big camera bag anymore. Freedom is mine, and this camera goes with me everywhere!

A USEFUL PIECE OF KIT

My second digital camera, this came with a couple of surprise bonuses. The first was the very wide angle lens is carries, and while it is only a two months since it arrived, I continue to be amazed. The second bonus (to me) was the amount of light it lets in: while nominally a 4.3 lens it punches well above its weight. The focussing isn't quite as speedy as with my previous Minolta, but nowhere near enough to cause frustration. Initially I thought this should be positioned a little lower down, and when using the xamera in portrait mode I think, ideally, it should be considerably lower. The results so far have been very pleasing with sharpness and colour reproduction more than meeting expectations, even in some low light conditions. Very pleased with the purchase and, having bought from Germany, it was considerably cheaper than I have seen advertised on a British site since.

Easy to use, nice bridge camera.

This camera was purchased for an elementary student as an introduction to photography, and for yearbook staff photos. It is an easy camera to learn photography basics and some advanced concepts. It is light enough to carry everyday, anywhere and the child can whip it out, pop up the flash and shoot on auto and get great photos. With the zoom and creative capabilities, It will be a great camera to take when I don't want the full SLR kit. The battery charging in camera is not efficient when you want the camera with you at all times.

Goods As Promised!

For those that are familiar with Nikon products, this is a great camera! A bit of a learning curve with Nikon, but once you are through that... a great compact camera with above average results.We concur with the consensus of other reviewers. This camera is particularly good at close-up or macrophotography (the best we've ever used!). Autofocus on distant objects? Not as fast as one would expect.Any knocks aside, a great value at the relatively low price point.

Great Bridge Camera

Very nice bridge camera. It has a great zoom. This camera is FUN which is one of the most important things regarding photography. I bought this used in 2021 so it was very reasonable. I have a DSLR but really like this as a carry round camera.

High quality " bridge " camera

For $ the Nikon Coolpix P600 is a super camera. Light, easy to use, and full featured. Great for beginners, hikers, and travelers . Has a good lens; macro to 1400+mm. Sensor is just fine for above applications. Stereo and 1080P as well.

It is a bridge camera not a DSLR

The extreme focal length makes it look as though it would be great for wildlife but the shutter lag, the fact there is no RAW option and restricted aperture common to most bridge cameras mean it is very restricted. However its light construction, versatility and good JPEG picture quality make it useful if you need to travel light. Pity there is no full manual yet so I could find out if the reason the flash fails to fire in some modes is due to a fault or operating restrictions. Don't expect the action and quality of shots you could with a DSLR and long lens and you will not be disappointed as you will not get back ache carrying it and break the bank to buy it.

Nikon Coolpix P600

I've put about 700-photos on this camera since I bought it. Camera buffs I've shown it to really lust after the anodized red with black accents design. Earlier Nikon's had folding display screens that were almost useless, the P600 has a folding screen like the Canon PowerShot and that's what sold me. My previous camera was a Canon PowerShot SX20-IS. It lasted about 15,000 photos and about 5-years before the lens started to have problems. The Canon took forever (3-seconds) between shots and you would miss lots of great photos while waiting to take the next shot. The Nikon, with a fast chip, seems to take almost 2-seconds between shots but the performance has been acceptable so far. Very lightweight and easy point and shoot camera

So far with the amount of time I have used it, I have been mostly pleased. The zoom sticks and that is bothersome because I am for sure going to miss a shot if I have to keep unsticking it. It get stuck on the zoom part until I take my hand and move it a bit then it will work. I have not used any of the effects settings yet so I am really hoping that all of those work correctly. I know buying used is risky so if that is the zoom is the only issue I will be pleased and just have another camera ready for a wide shot.

Bought this camera and I have to say it has an unbelievable zoom. You can actually see the craters on the moon. After the 60x zoom the digital zoom goes through two levels which roughly is equivalent to 4x (multiply dig zoom with opt zoom and your looking at around 240x). Obviously pic quality will suffer at complete zoom and trying to hold it still without a tripod is virtually impossible. Autofocus at extreme zoom is kind of slow s well.It also can take a while to figure out which combination of settings work best in manual, aperture priority, and shutter priority mode but using it gives you the hang of it after a bit. All in all an extremely impressive camera and probably the best in the long zoom category. Does it have a hotshoe? NO. Does it have gps? NO.
