So much nicer to interface with mechanical parts than the typical soft touch buttons.

First I wanted to start by stating I got into the SLR game in the Nikon D300 days. I had used an old canon film camera from my father’s time before. I love the ergonomics of modern cameras from D300 and on, however I have a special place for the design of classic camera design. I loved the Nikon Zfc which I own. So when I heard we were getting full frame, much of the same hardware from z8/9, new features and then a solidly designed and built enclosure, I was in. I sold the z7 ii as I didn’t really need the extra MP all the time.Hello Zf. The thing I love most about it is that it is a joy to shoot with and want to bring out. The quality of the camera and the results it brings are so good. Even people who are not familiar with cameras love shooting with it.

Received my Zf from B&H on 10/15/23. First impression ... about the same weight as my Z6ii. Much better build and seems quite a bit heavier than my Zfc. Feels good in my hands. Also got the SmallRig grip which I will probably use more than I first thought. Definitely recommend the grip. Will use the grip with my heavier and longer Z lenses. Amazingly beautiful camera and I'm loving the speed of the autofocus. Also really enjoyed the B&W switch during my street shooting. Looking forward to many photo adventures with it. Fun camera that brings back the days of my youth when I was shooting an SLR. Back to the Future, indeed!

Dream come true
27 October 2023

Since I grew up in the 60's and 70's using traditional SLR cameras, the Zf was a welcome innovation for me. I still have the muscle memory of analogue photography, so the Nikon Zf was literally a dream come true. I had high hopes for the Zfc, but it's construction left me a bit wanting. The Zf is a robust camera with some great innovations that make it such a pleasure to use. It feels very natural in my hands. My only wish is for Nikon to bring back the aperture ring (the real thing, with direct, mechanical aperture control and detents) on the lens. But, if not, there are options with either the F lens adapter or third party lenses. If you yearn for that old film camera feel, but appreciate the digital workflow, this could be the camera for you.

Great camera but it’s running warm…
19 October 2023

I just received the camera this morning and love just about everything, except the heat buildup. I’ve had the camera in hand while going through menus and setting it up. The grip area and the area around the lens release button are noticeably warm. I hope that this does not present a problem while doing extended shooting sessions.

Met All My Expectations
29 October 2023

I have been waiting for an upgrade to the Z6ii. I have saved money for the purchase but became impatient. Decided to buy the ZF. The retro look was not important (I have the Z FC) but the inside features seemed to meet my requirements for a future Z6iii. To say I am thrilled with the new technology would be an understatement. The AF is outstanding making quick, in focus event photos the rule. It locks on so quickly my keeper rate is huge. The other featues are just bonuses, but very welcome. Buy it while you have the chance.

love this camera
19 October 2023

I received it two days ago and did a client shoot yesterday. So fast, so flexible. I love the retro look and feel. Took me back to when I shot film on an OM2 but with an insane amount of tech stuffed in there. I reviewed the photos today. I was shooting the interior of a canvas tent at the end of the day and the lighting a details is awesome. No flash or strobes, just the fixed 40mm 2.8. So excited to have this rig!
