I recently purchased the Z50 from bestbuy after comparing and considering many DSLRs (D5600, D7500) and Mirrorless cameras (Sony alpha 2, Nikon Z30) , excellent value for money I found. Nice pictures and great video which many DSLR lack for the comparable range. I have seen many comments regarding battery life but for normal usage it lasts for a day plus Bestbuy gives an additional battery for heavy users. Happy with the purchase!

I originally wanted to replace my Sony RX100 compact, but as this came out and is almost the same as the latest RX100s, and though may not be as compact, and light is far superior in terms of practicality, flexibility and quality. It sits in between my D750 and the RX100 in size. The included kit lenses are very very good quality for the price. Why I didn't go with the Sony A6000s? Viewfinder. The A6000 viewfinders are just there for "if you want to use" situations. For me, the other reason is I need to use the viewfinder more and more since my eyes are coming of age. So the reason phones and the older RX100 don't do anymore. I now can cycle, hike, AND take great quality pictures whereas previously I would've had to be content with my phone as carrying the D750 with lens does make things harder. The other added benefit I didn't really thought about but now has become great is WYSIWYG via the EVF. I can basically do everything looking through the EVF. The touch screen LCD itself though is also great. Not in the manuals anywhere - you can pinch & zoom on playback like a phone.Quality, handling, wise - I will agree with all the reviews that you may see on YouTube. Just don't listen to that Tony & Chelsea on YT. They are full of nonsense. Finally, for all Nikon users - the FTZ is of course great to keep using our collection of lenses - like mine from 30+years.Cons? Operation, handling and quality great. I don't really care if its USB-C or mini-USB. However, the in-camera charging indicator and handling needs an improvement. On plugging in, there's a green blinking LED next to the LCD at the back, BUT the real charging indicator is a tiny orange LED next to the USB port, quite hidden. The two lights are confusing, and I had the camera drained (blinking green next to LCD), not knowing that it actually meant its in data transfer mode.I see the price went up since I bought it, but I hope the old price and bundle comes back for others to benefit from this really wonderful little camera.

Great starter kit, amazing camera! I got this model because of the superb autofocus and the option to use my older Nikon lenses (as well buy any other older, used lens). This camera has not disappointed. The controls are very good. There are lots of options to customize controls. There are two function buttons next to the lens that can be customized for specific functions, and two spots on the main dial that can be customized for whole camera functions (e.g. shoot RAW, certain menus setup, flash settings, ISO settings). This makes it easy to switch to specialized modes of shooting without fiddling with controls. There is also an option to customize a whole menu page. The autofocus in video is impressive for this price point. I am able to track my son riding his bike toward and away from me. I was able to track a bumblebee buzzing around around our tomato plants. All of this in 4K.This is a great camera and the kit is excellent for anyone who already owns some lenses or want to get into photography and pick up some cheap used options for fun.

I upgraded to this camera from a basic Nikon d3300 and couldn’t be happier. Seems like a great choice to start off with for mirrorless cameras.I have 3 qualms:•I love the touchscreen, but it seems to be a little over sensitive. When I go to take a photo I’ve unintentionally zoomed in before the camera automatically switches from live view to the eyepiece. My nose touches the screen before it picks up my eye at the eye piece where only then I’ll see that I’m doing a super zoom and need to manually zoom out on the touch screen instead of my lens (hope that makes sense). I’ve adapted to it, but it has slowed me down.• I wish the flip screen rotated to the side. I love how it helps with overhead shots, but can’t see anything if I flip it when my camera is on a ... MoreI upgraded to this camera from a basic Nikon d3300 and couldn’t be happier. Seems kinda fragile too.•Battery dies quicker than my other nikons. Now for the good:•It’s the perfect size for traveling or as an additional camera when you can’t afford to take up a lot of room.•Processes every photo very quickly.•The quality of photos and video are unmatched with anything I’ve used before it. I’m very impressed and have had super happy clients as a result. I plan on keeping this for a while and investing in additional lenses, and the 5 when it comes out.
I absolutely love this camera!! Wish I went mirrorless years ago!! I also wish I had just got the full frame, I love this so much I want to sell my full frame camera too!! Lol I was originally buying this just for on the go and selfies/family photos etc. Due to the smaller size. One thing I will say, if you shoot RAW like I do and you have an old desktop version of lightroom, you will no longer be able to use it. You will be forced to upgrade to the monthly online subscription. (I have had my old version for years and had been avoiding this since I knew how to use my original one, and felt no need to switch before). The 2 other cameras I have are the nikon D5500 and D800 incase you are wondering what I'm comparing to. They are also both great cameras, but you can't ... MoreI absolutely love this camera!! What a wonderful little camera. There's truly a beast of a camera in that little body.I have a nikon D7100, but I hardly used it due to its size and weight. I've taken more photos with the Z50 in the few weeks I've had it than the 7 odd years I've had the D7100.Make no mistake, this is a sophisticated camera and has all the features an amateur could wish for and more. And yet if you chose to use in auto mode you can do with minimal input. The ISO ability is phenomenal; I'm truly blown away at how high I can shoot and still get great results. I'm not sure why one reviewer wasn't happy with the 50-250 lens, mine is super sharp especially considering the zoom range. Really very very good. The handling is superb. I went hiking a couple weeks ago and comfortably held the camera by the grip all day long and barely noticed it was in my hand.If I had to moan I'd wish for a slightly better auto focus system, it's good but could be better, but having said that I'm still learning its many AF modes. My key take is its size. It means I will actually take it with me and use it! And, in my humble opinion, that's what it's all about ...taking more photos.
Ok. I am a pro, in that I earn a living from photography and graphics. So this camera I picked up to see what this generation of cameras with DX sensors were like and have it as a spare in emergency. I am a Nikon user and I know there are lots of other quite sophisticated beasts in other brands. What I can say about this kit is this. It's fantastic fun. The kit lenses that came with it are decent. Got some nice red squirrel pictures, a few decent birding pics, a bunch of landscapes which were fine and some decent studio shots. It is so easy to carry about with you anywhere so family pics were a dream. You'll enjoy using it. Nearly all digital cameras at this price mark are good. Personally I liked the handling of this cutie. Worth the price tag.
The reviews of this product tend to be lukewarm. I found it to be excellent. There may be other cameras in this category (mirrorless, less than full frame) that do particular things better, such as faster auto-focus etc. But overall, I think this is a really great product with the expected Nikon quality. It is extremely compact especially with the supplied kit lens. That lens has great optics, but a relatively high f/stop. The sensor is very good, allowing you to use high ISO values, which somewhat offsets the limited light gathering of the lens. And of course, you can buy faster lenses if you want the maximum results. If a semi-serious photographer is looking for a very good, convenient, versatile camera that is not too far from the professional level, I think this ... MoreThe reviews of this product tend to be lukewarm. So I used to be into SLR and DSLRs and still have the excellent D7000.Sadly I rarely used it and fell into the iPhone habits as millions have done. But I always yearned for the SLR experience and the iPhone just left me wanting more. After much research I hit the buy button on this kit and it's my best decision this year so far.I took it in a hiking trip recently and it was a little gem of a revelation; the thing is tiny and yet feels superb in the hand .The diminutive size and superb grip meant that I could hold it in my hand all day long barely noticing it was there. And it's still a very sophisticated bit of kit when you want it to be.The oled viewfinder is brilliant, and being able to see the live exposure is a transformative experience.I will be ... MoreSo I used to be into SLR and DSLRs and still have the excellent D7000.Sadly I rarely used it and fell into the iPhone habits as millions have done. And it's still a very sophisticated bit of kit when you want it to be.The oled viewfinder is brilliant, and being able to see the live exposure is a transformative experience.I will be using this far more than all my previous cameras put together .Don't hesitate, just do it !
Adorama offered the Nikon Z50 with the FTZ adapter for my old Nikon lenses and with a 16-50mm and 50-250mm lens for a price that beat all the competition. It came with two sets of filters, one for each lens. I didn't really need the other stuff, but it came with a very practical camera bag and a high speed SD card. The camera was delivered in a couple of days after ordering.I had been using a Nikon D7500, and Z50 is basically a mirrorless twin of the D7500. But it has some extra features that are pure fun to use. Of course, it is much lighter than the D7500, so that is great for travel.I used the FTZ adapter to take bird photos with my 600mm lens. Spectacular results. I cannot believe this camera sells for this price.
