It certainly doesn't need to be squeezable since the applicator is useless. Are you listening, Nikwax?! A no-plastic option would be awesome!

This stuff works great! It is also probably the easiest wax that I have ever applied to boots. I used the Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel to first scrub and clean my boots. While the boots were clean but still wet, I applied the Waterproofing Wax for Leather and rubbed it in until it was no longer visible. I took the boots snowshoeing the next day and there was ZERO water build up or wetting on the leather. The water would bead up and then just roll off the boots. Definitely use this stuff if you need to treat all leather boots for a wet environment.

The product is nearly odorless and its paste like consistency makes it easy to apply without messy dripping. The color finish of my gloves (Blk. I have found that reapplication is necessary after every 3rd-5th ski trip, not once a year as claimed by the company and it takes about 48 hours for the product to completely penetrate and dry on the leather. Great for leather ski gloves
9 November 2022

Used this Nikwax waterproofing wax on my Hestra leather ski gloves. I believe the gloves originally came with a sample of it that I used years ago. Application was easy, I used my fingers and tried to get it into every nook and cranny. Leather still feels supple afterwards, ready for a new ski season.Personally I would only use this on work or sports gloves. I would not use this product on dress gloves or footwear.

Kept my boots alive!
27 September 2023

Works awesome! I just used on my old pair of all leather Altra Smith Boots and it brought their look back to life! The leather was getting old and starting to fade and dry out. Immediately after applying the wax, the leather is all the same color now and no part of the leather looks dry anymore. Will be using this stuff regularly, considering Altra does not make those all leather boots anymore

Nikwax Review
16 October 2021

Applying Nikwax was very messy. The applicator was bulky and it was not easy to apply exactly to the boot edge and around the elastic. I used a shoe cloth instead. I had not had an opportunity to know if the waterproofing is effective. It does darken the leather. So if you like the color of your leather before you use Nikwax be aware it your leather will darken.

Restored some old GORE-TEX to almost new!
27 September 2023

I didn't realise that you shouldn't use shoe polish etc. on GORE-TEX boots, so after some online research, Nikwax looked to be the most recommended treatment. I was sceptical, but gave it a try. Having cleaned the boots with just water and a sponge and let them dry, I applied the Nikwax using my fingers and rubbed it into the very well worn boots, particularly the seams. Immediately you could see and feel the difference. I used neutral colour Nikwax on brown boots and it gave them a rich deep brown colour. I haven't tried them for waterproof tests yet, but I'm sure I will be equally impressed.

Safety goggles required

I bought this in my search for a replacement for Biwell leather care products. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. The product is too runny and not of homogeneous consistency. Even after vigorous shaking, is still liquid and lumpy at the same time. The applicator sponge and valve cannot handle it, and product regularly refuses to exit the tube or alternatively squirts all over the work surface, clothes and the floor. As far as water proofing goes, it does the job, but leaves a sticky surface on smooth leather even after rigorous buffing. This unfortunately attracts dust.

Waterproofing for GTX.
18 February 2022

This product is recommended by Asolo for waterproofing their leather and Goretex boots for the fact that it is not petroleum based and will not clog the pores of Goretex. I’ve been using Nikwax products on all my outdoor gear with fantastic results. Nikwax really sheds snow and water, it also blends minor scuffs and scratches in the leather. It’s a great product and I will use nothing else. Their product line covers everything you can think of.

Works for blundstones but will change color
5 April 2023

The product definitely works. I found applying it with my fingers was far less messy than with the foam applicator. I used this on my light rustic colored blundstones and it did make them darker, now they are more of a chocolate brown than the original light rustic brown. But still look beautiful and are more waterproof!
