As someone who uses pretty much all ninja everything in the kitchen I can say they always hit home runs with their products and this is no different. If you have or have had a ninja air fryer before this one is similar but better in every way.So I really dig the match cook option with this new large split basket situation they have going on here. It’s one big basket (around 15ā€ wide) instead of the normal smaller like in the past. This has a removable wall in the middle so you can cook two different things at different temps and not affect each other (perfect for my kids chicken nuggets and French fries lol). Not only does it do two foods at different temps but using the smart finish it doesnt matter what settings you need or length of time it will make sure that ...Ā MoreAs someone who uses pretty much all ninja everything in the kitchen I can say they always hit home runs with their products and this is no different. You can set zone 1 and zone 2 independently or use the megazone button and control both as one large zone for cook settings.Though I mainly used this for air frying it also does broil reheat bake and dehydrate. I also find myself using reheat for left over pizza which it actually does a really good job of heating evenly and coming out much better than the microwave.Whether you want an air fryer or you want a really flexible space saving oven this thing is easily the best one ive used. I highly recommend this and it makes even my oldest ninja air fryer feel old now with this new tech lol.

Now that that’s out of the way… this is an absolutely elite air fryer for pretty much anything. I really enjoy the divider, because oftentimes you want to make frozen fries or something with your frozen protein. Having used it a couple times, the temperature control is good and turns out great when cooking at two different temperatures with the divider. Compared to my other device, the actual air frying capabilities are very similar – the food turns out pretty much the same with either. However, the basket in this device is a lot longer and spreads the food out more. In turn, it turns out a bit crispier and better when cooking large quantities of food in the air fryer. To those looking for a quality air fryer – this is it. It delivers on anything (expect a whole chicken) one could want from an air fryer. I usually enjoy Ninja products and was not disappointed with this.

Preparing brussel sprouts for a small group of 5 people would normally require 2-3 batches to get good, crispy sprouts but this Ninja air fryer can do it all in one take!Other than capacity, the other major benefit of this fryer is that it's capable of dual-zone cooking. So, a single batch of two different foods cooking simultaneously at their own respective temperatures. It's super easy to operate so you just have to make sure that the small divider is in there.GOOD AND BAD: I really like how this system has very few components to clean - it's literally just the bottom perforated trays (they have small rubber feet on them, which makes them sit in the baskets snuggly and not rattle around), the divider, and the drawer basket. There are few components but that basket IS large, which should be taken into consideration. Overall, that large basket significantly outweighs the cumbersome nature of cleaning. I absolutely love this machine and Ninja really have been killing it with their high quality products for reasonable prices.

[Rewarded Review] Great air fryer and appliance for any kitchen
30 August 2023

The Ninja Foodi FlexBasket Air Fryer with 7qt MegaZone is a fantastic countertop appliance that is versatile in what it can cook and how it can cook it. It is mostly black with silver highlights, and the dimensions are 18.5 inches by 11.75 inches by 11.25 inches. According to the package it weighs 17 lbs and that feels about right. It seems more compact than other air fryers I've owned but the 7 quart air fryer basket is as big as any I've had and is a convenient size. The cord is 32 inches long. Out of the box it came with the air fryer, the 7 qt cooking basket, 2 crisper plates, the cooking basket divider, and a collection of recipes and cooking charts which are quite accurate. Out of the box it came with the air fryer, the 7 qt cooking basket, 2 crisper plates, the cooking basket divider, and a collection of recipes and cooking charts which are quite accurate. There are six cooking functions: Air Fry, Bake, Dehydrate, Roast, Reheat, and Air Broil. Air Fry is the typical air frying function which I used with french fries. I wasn't experienced enough to try the Bake function for desserts, nor the Dehydrate function. I tried Roast with a 2 lb roast beef and it cooked perfectly with some small potatoes and small carrots, with room to spare. It was so juicy and delicious. I did use it for Reheat and I prefer it to my microwave whenever that is practical. The Air Broil function is amazing for melting cheese on baked potatoes or fries, or making crisp edges on hamburgers. The Megazone allows you to use the full 7 qt basket for cooking but you can add the divider to make 2 3.5 qt baskets. With the divider in, you can cook 2 different things on the same setting or on 2 different settings. There is a setting for Smart Finish that allows both smaller sections to finish cooking at the same time even when they are cooked on different settings with different temperatures and times. If you are looking to make an item particularly crispy, insert the crisper plates into the bottom of the basket. It lifts the food up and allows the heated air to circulate under and around to crisp the item evenly. The Ninja Foodi FlexBasket Air Fryer with 7qt MegaZone has cooked every item I have used it with to perfection. It worked with fries, it worked with a beef roast, it worked with cheeseburgers, it worked with baked potatoes, and it has worked with reheating leftovers without heating up the house or the uneven heating of a microwave. I've owned a few air fryers previously, but this unit is the best all-around package. I recommend for all kitchens.

I’m a big fan of Ninja products; I like their informative packaging which does a great job of pointing out their product’s features and benefits BEFORE you buy them, and I’ve always had great experiences with the Ninja line – both their kitchen products and their other household lines. (I have a Ninja vacuum that’s been going great for over ten years now!)I’m also a huge fan of the air fryer. I use mine at least 2-3 times a week, especially in the Summer when I don’t want to heat up my kitchen. These days I only really use my oven when I am making a pizza or when I’m cooking a big casserole or other dish that’s too large for my 6-quart air fryer. And even though the Ninja Foodi 6-in1 is only a mere quart more, it’s the form factor and flexibility that make all the ...Ā MoreI’m a big fan of Ninja products; I like their informative packaging which does a great job of pointing out their product’s features and benefits BEFORE you buy them, and I’ve always had great experiences with the Ninja line – both their kitchen products and their other household lines. And even though the Ninja Foodi 6-in1 is only a mere quart more, it’s the form factor and flexibility that make all the difference. The rectangular ā€œmegazoneā€ basket will allow me to cook foods like pork loins or whole chickens, something I’d never be able to do with my older air fryer. This on it’s own is a great upgrade, but the Foodi 6-in1 offers a even greater feature that I didn’t know I needed until I started using my air fryer more regularly. When I first started air frying, I was using it mainly for side dishes – things I would normally ā€˜fry’ in the oven like French fries and onion rings. After all, it’s an ā€˜air fryer’ right? You use it for ā€˜fried’ things. But as I learned more and got access to other recipes, I started realizing I cook just about anything in it and I stopped thinking of it as an ā€˜alternative’ to pan or deep frying and started thinking of it in it’s proper context of a convection oven – which is what it actually is - and this opened me up to cooking more dishes in it.However I now ran up against a different issue, namely that there were a lot of times where I would create a meal with both a main dish and a side dish, each of which would work great in the air fryer but I had to either cook them separately or decide on using the air fryer for one or the other since the items would either be cooked using different times, temperatures or in many cases both. The Ninja Foodi 6-in-1 solves that problem for me and does it rather intelligently. Because the megazone basket can be partitioned with each half having its own cooking times and controls, I no longer have to decide. Everything can go in the air fryer at once and be cooked properly! The REAL magic here though is the ā€œSmart Finishā€ feature! This feature allows you to set up two dishes that have different times and temperatures and then starts the one with the longest time first and puts the other on ā€˜stand by’. Then when the first item’s remaining time matches the time on the second item it starts it up so that both items finish at the same time! For instance, if you want to roast a chicken breast that needs 20 minutes at 350 and some fries that need 10 minutes at 400, the chicken side starts first. Then, after 10 minutes elapse it starts the fries. For me, one of the hardest things to get right when you’re cooking multiple items is trying to get them all ready at the same time and I find this feature amazing! (Heck, in my opinion it’s worth the purchase just for that feature!)There’s also another feature named ā€œMatch Cookā€ that allows you to set the same time/temp for both zones for cooking the same food in separate sections. You set the time/temp for the first side and then one button transfers those settings to the other. But I’m having a hard time seeing the use case for this one. If you’re cooking the same food at the same time and temperature, I don’t see why you wouldn’t just remove the partition and use the whole basket in ā€œmegazoneā€ mode. I actually watched a few YouTube videos to see if I was missing something obvious, but no one seemed to be able to offer a use case for using ā€œMatch Cookā€ over just setting the time and temp for the ā€œmegazoneā€ and using the whole basket. Maybe this will become more apparent to me with time, but I’m sure Ninja had a plan in mind and it’s still a nice feature. This is an obvious purchase for someone with a family as it allows a lot of flexibility, but I’d argue that for single folks like me, this is also a great purchase. It offers me more options for the meals I can prepare like larger dishes as well as the ability to cook different dishes and have them all ready at the same time. Like my other Ninja products, it’s a quality build and should last me a long time so I’d definitely recommend it. Still confused by that ā€œMatch Cookā€ feature, but I’m sure one day I’m going to go to cook something and go, ā€œOhhh, THAT’S what it’s for!!ā€

If you need the setting synchronized in both zones, as you would for Megazone use, you can use a setting called Match Cook to easily do so.I’ve referred to several different terms above, so here they are with a little more explanation:Match Cook – using two different foods that you don’t want mixed but both cooked at the same temperature and timeMegazone Cook – using the complete basket for one food or mix of foods at one temperature and one timeSmart Finish – when using the divided basket with different food items requiring different ways of cooking and different times to cook but where both zones finish cooking at the same timeWe cooked roast, burgers, twice-baked potatoes, biscuits and a few other things that don’t come to mind right now. They turned out very good all the way around. We haven’t tried it yet, but cooking using dehydrate will bring you dehydrated vegetables or fruit as well as meat – yes, it will make jerky.Keep in mind that you don’t heat up your kitchen with the Foodi as you might using your stove. The Foodi also cools down very quickly once it turns off. The amount of sound generated by the Foodi is like the quantity of sound a microwave will make.Overall, the controls are simple and clear to use easily. Clear instructions are provided in the included Quick Start Guide. While the Guide also provides detailed charts for cooking different foods using different settings, there are two handy charts on either side of the main Foodi controls for Match Cook and Smart Finish.Cleanup is easy but remember that the larger 7-qt basket does require more space in your dishwasher than smaller air fryers. Likewise, when removing food from the basket onto your plate, with a small air fryer you can pull out the basket and simply dump the contents on a plate or two. With the larger Foodi basket you’re better off using tongs to place the food on your plate. The Foodi will easily set on your countertop while fitting under any overhead cabinets; however, since it does so much more, and providing more food if needed, it is wider than the single air fryers. But remember that this appliance is very useful every day, so you’ll want it handy for regular use. This is a very nice kitchen appliance that you’ll use regularly because it’s easy to use and so worth buying!

[Rewarded Review] Well Made Air Fryer - MegaZone is worth it
7 September 2023

The Ninja Foodi FlexBasket Air fryer is another addition to Ninja’s growing line of kitchen appliances. This air fryer sets itself apart with its larger 7qt. size and dual zone heating. In other larger air fryer models, including ones from Ninja, you tend to have 2 separate baskets with each size carrying its own heat controls. The MegaZone basket lets you cook across the entire volume – a novel improvement. The MegaZone basket lets you cook across the entire volume – a novel improvement. I have been using it quite frequently over the last few days and I have really liked it so far.Design of the MegaZone Air Fryer follows the same design cues of other Ninja appliances. The front display/control panel has a familiar interface. Push buttons for each control are hidden under the smooth plastic surface. There are settings for Air Broil, Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate. There are a couple of other buttons that correspond to the cooking zones – Zone 1, Zone 2, and MegaZone. There’s also buttons for Smart Finish and Match Cook. If you are unfamiliar with these 2 modes, they are pretty easy to understand. Smart Finish is used when you are cooking using both zones but the cook times don’t match. You can select Smart Finish before starting to cook and the machine will hold the shorter timed item from starting until the timers for both sides sync and they finish together. With Match Cook you are again using both zones. For this setting you have 2 things you are cooking that have all the same temp/cook mode/time but you don’t want the foods to comingle together in the MegaZone. Selecting Match Cook will sync both sides of the air fryer to the same thing – it basically saves you from having to program the same thing twice. The basket is one large container that is bisected by the removable center block plate. On either side is an identical insert grate that has rubber feet in all 4 corners. The center plate is also rubberized, which helps protect the finish of the metal as you remove/replace the block and grate inserts. The basket itself is large enough for me to toast an entire foot long sub with plenty of room to spare. Pulling the basket out is as easy as grabbing the full width handle and pulling it out. Removal of the basket does not stop or pause the cooking, so you have to press the pause button if you need to remove the basket for an extended period of time. While the air fryer is running the exterior of the machine stays safe to touch – you fan feel it warming up, but nothing that approaches feeling hot.The different cook modes correspond to different temp ranges and defaults. They are basically time/temp shortcuts. Reheat and Air Fry operate on a range of 300-400°F, Bake and Roast are 250-400°F, Dehydrate is 80-195°F, and Air Broil is 450°F. I have been using air fryers for years so I am familiar with this sort of scheme. I mainly used the Air Fry and the Roast presets as those gave me the temp ranges I needed the most.In my time of using the air fryer I have made meatball subs, pork loins, reheated calzones and pizza, cooked nuggets and fries, and made nachos. I really like the use of the full width via the MegaZone setting. That came in handy with the subs and pork loins which are much too large to do in my smaller 3qt round air fryer. I used the split zones to cook the nuggets and fries which required different temps and times, and I used the Smart Finish mode to sync them up. In the past if I wanted to do nuggets and fries I had to use my oven to make enough, and with the current outside temps I have little desire to turn on my oven. In all cases the cooking went off without a hitch and the food came out great. The only time something went wrong was with a meatball sub – I was using thin sliced cheese and I think the convection current was strong enough to lift the cheese up off the sub. The cheese melted/burned onto the element, which caused me to shut it down and do a cleaning. Lessen learned on the super thin sliced cheese. After using the cooker for about a week the only fault I can find with it is the lack of a basket hook or catch when pulling the basket out. Most air fryers pull straight out and can sit on the counter top because the outer basket shroud (the cool plastic part) keeps the hot basket elevated. Also, most small air fryer baskets are barely above the counter surface so pulling them out to check progress is easy. In those cases the basket hangs inside the machine and the shroud rests on the counter, which keeps the basket steady and allows you to shake or move things around. With the larger 7qt basket you can’t pull it out and let it rest on just any surface. The hot basket will tip down (towards the back) and rest on the counter – no way around this. You need to have hot pads and counterspace ready for the basket to be set down – a tough task if you are tight on useable counterspace. I used my oven surface quite a few times as well. This basket awkwardness also isn’t helped by the elevated position of the basket opening. The opening for the basket sits about 0.75ā€ above the counter surface, which is much higher than other air fryers I have used. The elevated position means you have to hold onto the basket while checking the cook progress or while moving/repositioning food. Letting go of the handle allows the basket to tip down (outwards) and slide out more. I felt I was tempting fate by taking my hand off the basket – it was a delicate balancing act.Overall, I really do like this Air Fryer. The issue with the basket aside, I like the larger size because I have 5 kids that I cook for. The smaller air fryers cannot keep up if I am cooking for everyone. I used the dual zone to make batches of nuggets and fries, the MegaZone for pork loins, and more. In the week that I have had this I have not used my oven once – which is a big help in keeping my home cool. This is my 5th Ninja Foodi small appliance. They have all seen regular usage, and I have yet to be disappointed by any one of them.

[Rewarded Review] Why didn't I get this sooner?
31 December 2023

I once was a lowly, silly girl who thought air fryers were overrated and didn't really add anything to the cooking experience. Then I bought this air fryer on impulse as young adults do and it has been a particularly life changing experience. This thing makes chicken in 15 minutes or less. Reheats pizza in 4 minutes like you just walked out of the restaurant with it. French fries are perfection. I've made whole dinners in under 20 and everything just tastes better? (compared to the uninspiring oven) I cook very often so trust me when I tell you this shaves cooking times in HALF. It has TWO baskets and my favorite part (which no other air fryer I've seen done) is that you can make it into one mega basket. I'm counting down the days until I roast an entire chicken. ...Ā MoreI once was a lowly, silly girl who thought air fryers were overrated and didn't really add anything to the cooking experience. It's very easy to use and super easy to wash/rinse and use over and over. It even has a cute little goodbye message every time you turn it off. It is super quiet compared to some other air fryers I've heard and it only beeps ONCE when its finished cooking instead of the incessant, loud beeping of other machines. It doesn't take up too much space on my apartment counter with 3 roommates and it doesn't emit any smoke like others might. It's magic. If you're on the fence, let this be your sign to hop on the bright side over here. The Ninja Foodi bright side.

[Rewarded Review] Worst air fryer I've ever had
18 February 2024

I was so excited to replace my old air fryer with this one but it's been fairly disappointing and if I hadn't had previous air fryer experience, I'd wonder why everyone loved them so much. I have been using the air fryer for several months, 4-5 times a week. Prior to the Ninja, I had a Bella and all it did was air fry. I liked the Ninja because it has more cooking options and a dual zone. I have found that no matter what setting I use--zone 1, 2 or mega, air fry, air broil, etc., it does not cook evenly. When cooking a steak, one part of the filet will register 135 degrees on the meat thermometer while the other side reads 94 degrees. Same thing with chicken cutlets, salmon, etc. The only thing it's cooked evenly where frozen zucchini fries. I would not recommend this air fryer or the brand to anyone.

[Rewarded Review] lots of good with a couple bads

We use an air fryer in our house quite a bit, they are simple, quick and efficient.I love the features of the Ninja Flexbasket on paper but I think they missed the mark on a couple things. The Ninja Flexbasket is quieter in operation than our previous air fryers, definitely a plus. Having the dual zones/Flexbasket is perfect for doing meals for 2 and having 2 separate cooking times and temps. Being able to cook meat and a veggie at the same time makes this an even more convenient cooking appliance. The smart finish, also a great feature when cooking 2 different dishes, no need to babysit the cooking and take one item out, or add an item. Just put your 2 foods in, set the time and temp individually on both, hit smart finish and walk away. Just put your 2 foods in, set the time and temp individually on both, hit smart finish and walk away. Or if we are doing a large ā€˜batch’ of something, remove the divider, fill the full basket and use it as one large unit, the best of both worlds. When you are all done, the basket, divider and trays are dishwasher safe for easy cleanup. All great points and things I like about this. The bad points that I think are missed…. The overall form factor, mainly the handle. I dont understand the reasoning behind the wrap around handle, maybe aesthetics? In reality it just makes the unit a few inches wider than it really needs to be, and with our cabinets, its too wide to fit in the door unless you shuffle it sideways. If you are keeping this on the countertop, not an issue, but if you want to store it in the cabinets you might want to see if it will fit first. The other miss, other air fryers we’ve had, have silicon feet of some sort on the bottom of the basket. When you pull the hot basket out of the unit, you can just let it sit on the counter. This Ninja Flexbasket has no heat resistant feet of any sort on the bottom, so if you set it on your counter you could burn the countertop. All in all, I was only going to give 3 stars due to the misses.. But, I understand those may only be a miss for certain use cases and overall the unit has nice features and seems to work well so I’ll go with 4 stars.
