The cartoon figures are fun looking but the whole visual experience is not inline with graphical improvements since 2005the 6 games seem like hours and hours of fun but badminton and volleyball is very limited in moves. The sword play is glitchy as the movements arent exactly precise. The football doesnt seem to require the leg strap (atm) but its reasonable fun. This game was great fun! It does have it troubles here and there but it's honestly a great game. The only problem I have with this game is the lack of content. Sure there is a pro league and some Unlockable customization options, but it's all locked behind Online play. The trial mode with it though, only lets you unlock two items per week, and your not playing against real people. Luckily, I have online and feel bad for the people who don't cause they are missing out on a huge chunk of the experience. I only know about this trial mode because my brother tried playing online even though he doesn't have the online membership, so it granted him trial mode which sucked by the way. An impulse buy for both nostalgia and to get my little preteen gamer moving. Love the new designs, very colorful and alive. The characters give me Splatoon x Animal Crossing vibes with just a dash of anime inspo. (And the option to still select Miis is a nice throwback!) The motions are a good combination of realistic simulation and simplified movements to accommodate a larger player base. Chambara (swordplay) and volleyball are my favorite, I'm very impressed by those ones. Even with the just two Joy-Cons (1 pair), you can still enjoy ~90% of the game with another person. As for the price to content ratio...it's not the best but not the worst. For $50, there's essentially only 6 sports, some of which do have options that provide varied gameplay. I feel like there's still a lot I can get out of the game. But even then, it's easy to pick up, great to pull others into, and a fun light workout.
The Wii was innovative and exciting. Wii Sports and other interactive titles brought families to video games in a way never before seen. Switch had the opportunity to advance and enhance that experience with a better, stronger faster console. Instead, they chose to combine their top-selling portable handheld with the novelty of motion controllers. In the end, they fell short. For all the upgrades and improvements of Switch over Wii, the titles like Sports suffered. The precision tracking of the controllers isn't there. It's still fun to swing the controllers around, but it ain't Wii Sports.

There are also nuanced/hidden moves that it doesn't show you in tutorials which gives the play some depth, but is also unbalanced if there's match ups between someone that knows all the secrets and some one who doesn't.There's also the lacking rewards for playing online - you just unlock more clothes and accessories for your avatar. My kids like this and it will keep some people going, but why not also have some leaderboards or weekly competitions, or badges that show things you've achieved such as 5 strikes in a row, or win/loss ratio or something else?So for my family of 5, at best 4 of us can play at once, but then once we go online, it's down to 2 of us, and then within 2 out of 5 of the games it's one person by themselves... consider that before buying, if you had a different expectations of multiplayer as I did.

I was stoked to have a Nintendo sports game back in comparison to Wii Sports. I will not discredit the fun and a bit of exercise you get in this game. However, this is no where near what the OG games were. For being a newer platform and so many years after the original Nintendo Sports series, this disappoints. No universal games like basketball, boxing and baseball. Some games out the bo were either unavailable or needed future updates to fully utilize its potential.My hope for this game is that they continue adding more sports and content to it to make it more appealing to more people

Throughout the pandemic, my father dug out a Kinect for neighborhood backyard get-togethers. When I took him to a retro game shop this winter, the clerk crushed his spirit, informing him that not even original Xbox One games would connect with Kinect. Nor were his Kinect classics backward compatible with the latest Xbox hardware. I’m ecstatic that I can push this game into his life, because reader, I promise that it’s better than literally every Kinect game … and nearly every Wii game, too. Nintendo Switch Sports targets this audience, from the retired to the new parents, nostalgic for a type of gaming experience that hasn’t quite been recreated since. These are the final generations widely unfamiliar with modern video game controllers. And for Nintendo, that audience may be more than enough. That said, I do hope younger folks give this game a shot. I think they might once the game’s online mode is available, a place where people under the age of 35 are far more likely to play games. Until I can try those features, though, I’m happy to think of this as Nintendo’s love letter to the old and the old at heart. The company took over a decade to make the game, but maybe they were waiting for folks like me to age into it.
