Literally the best Controller I've used to dateI've used many controllers over the years including high end specialty controllers and I can't think of a single controller that gets as much right as the Switch Pro Controller. At first glance, its appearance doesn't make it look like it's of the highest quality thanks to a very basic shape and not much in the way of immediate standout extras. The moment I picked this up to play a game, however, it became immediately apparent just how high quality this controller actually is.The material used for the controller is a hard plastic that is neither rough like the base Xbox One controller nor is it glossy like the Wii U Pro Controller. The moment I picked this up to play a game, however, it became immediately apparent just how high quality this controller actually is.The material used for the controller is a hard plastic that is neither rough like the base Xbox One controller nor is it glossy like the Wii U Pro Controller. No, it's a smooth mat finish with a different texture on the handles. It is extremely pleasant to hold, much like a Dual Shock 4 or a Xbox One Elite Controller. When it comes to the actual inputs, I was shocked to find how much I like the analogs on this controller. The analogs have a very similar shape to the Dual Shock 4 (DS4) analogs and they almost as much pressure as the DS4 analogs. However, unlike the DS4 they have tread around the edges like the Xbox One (XB1) controller but it's a lighter amount and the rubber material used is similar to the material used for the Wii U Pro Controller and Gamepad. This is all good imo. The analogs on the Switch Pro controller essentially have all the pro's of the gen 8 analogs without any of the cons. When it comes to the buttons, in specific, the face buttons, Nintendo has delivered as expected. The face buttons protrude just as much as the Wii U Pro controller but are slightly larger and aren't as loose. They feel great to press and use. The d-pad protrudes the right amount, clicks the right amount, has a great roll, and essentially functions the way I've come to expect from high quality Nintendo d-pads. The other 4 face buttons are much smaller and don't protrude as much but they're much easier to press and use then on the Joycons. When it comes to the shoulder buttons, unfortunately, the triggers are still digital buttons like the Wii U Pro controller and Gamepad. However, much like the Wii U Pro controller, they're extremely easy to press and comfortable use. They have a really nice feel to them.On the note of comfort, for me, after using the Wii U Pro controller for a significant amount of time and while I do like having the 1 up and 1 down layout design, I found that the Wii U Pro controller was a vastly more comfortable controller experience then any controller before it. While the Switch Pro controller doesn't fully match the Wii U Pro controller in the level of comfort, it comes really close. After several long game sessions, I have yet to run into any instances of discomfort or stress on my hands while playing. That said, because the base molding has such a basic design, the grips don't mold as well into my palms as the Xbox One controller, DS4 controller, or Wii U Pro controller. This isn't to say that the grips are inherently bad, but they could benefit from slightly more curves in their shape. Another issue that arises from the basic molding is the back of the controller is kind of flat. While this does help to an extent because there's no protruding plastic on the inner part of my middle finger causing discomfort, it also means there's no plastic to kind of catch the middle finger for better gripping. I should note, neither issue are major complaints that cause issues with gameplay or comfort, however, I do think the Switch Pro controller could have been even better if the shell was slightly closer to the Wii U Pro controllers. When it comes to extra features, the controller isn't as barebones as the Wii U pro controller. Because of this, instead of getting 80 hours of battery life, it gets 40. This is far from bad though. You have no obnoxious lights or useless battery draining features that you can't turn off like the DS4 and unlike the XB1 controller, it comes with a battery built in. To add to that, it uses USB type C to charge which, in my opinion, is infinitely better then Micro USB. Unfortunately, like the Wii U Pro controller, it's still missing a headset jack, which honestly, the Switch, like every other Nintendo system, doesn't have a robust online system with voice chat taking a center roll. This may change down the road, though I doubt it will, so I'm not expecting the lack of a headset jack to really mean much. Granted, I do every now and then plug in my headset to just hear the game audio late at night on my PS4 and XB1 to keep the volume low for everybody who's sleeping. That said, I can also play the system portably and plug in a headset there, which also works for me though I do understand if somebody who wants to play on the TV only finds this annoying. They've added a share button similar to the DS4, which is always cool. There's a NFC reader built right into the controller now, which is very good for what Nintendo's doing thought I have no idea if this will really ever be used outside of what does. Though, I should note, I've already used the NFC reader several times. It also includes the HD Rumble, which is pretty awesome. While the HD rumble is definitely best suited for the Joycons, it still works well in games that support it and use the Pro controller.Overall, while it's not the absolute perfect controller, it's one of the best controllers I've ever used. It's comfortable to hold, comfortable to use, has inputs that work exactly the way I want them to, has no annoyances I wish weren't there, and has one of the best battery situations I've ever seen in an input device. It feels very premium, even more premium then premium controllers I've purchased for other systems. Imo, if you own a Switch, this controller is a must buy. If you're looking for a controller for PC, you'd be hard pressed to find something better.

I picked up this controller along with a Nintendo Switch and Super Mario Odyssey. The controller feels great, but a little light, but the issues came when I started playing Super Mario Odyssey. The first thing I noticed was there was no rumble, I thought it would be fine without, except there are several puzzles in Mario Odyssey that require you to follow the rumble pulses in a game of hot or cold to find Moons. That required me to switch to the Joycons to play. Not much longer after that, I became stuck because there are no motion controls in this controller. That became an issue when you are required to shake the joycons to do one of many things, such as allowing you to stretch further, get Cappy to home in on enemies, or jump higher. The one thing I did expect from this controller is lack of Amiibo support, although nothing on the box states this that I could find.So I would avoid this controller unless you are getting it for a specific game that wouldn't need any of the standard features on controllers these days. Otherwise, stick to the Joycon controllers or the Wireless Pro Controller, I know I will be returning it for the latter.

I was very skeptical about picking this controller up considering the very mixed reviews I had seen online about third party controllers on the switch. After purchasing this controller it connected immediately and I have had no issues with it. Since it is a cheaper controller it feels slightly cheap. You get what you pay for. While it may not have rumble or motion control, it works just fine and considering it only costs a fraction of what a pro controller costs I recommend getting this if you're under a tight budget or need a decent controller. That being said I do plan on eventually purchasing an official pro controller, but currently I am using this and it works wonderful for the price. If you're on the fence like I was, I say pull the trigger and pick it up. ... MoreI was very skeptical about picking this controller up considering the very mixed reviews I had seen online about third party controllers on the switch. The design on the controller is nice. The USB cable to connect the controller to dock is long enough imo. The thumb sticks are concave like the xbox one's controller which is a good thing for me because it provides a better grip for my thumbs. I really don't like the controllers that have the dome for for the thumb sticks because my thumb tends to slip off more often. The d pad isn't great if you're going to use it for side scrolling or precise direction presses. It's the same problem when I use my pro controller too when playing Breath Of The Wild. I want to change my weapon with right d pad but it would input as up or down. Most of the virtual console games would benefit greatly from a better d pad. But overall, I would really recommend getting this controller for that price if you dont want to spend $70 on a pro controller.
This controller has some great features such as being able to disconnect the wire from the controller. If you have ever used a wired controller you have probably noticed that every time it gets put up the cord gets wrapped around the controller a half-dozen times. The problem with this is that the cord always frays or separates where it joins the controller. This design solves that. The cord is more than long enough at 10’, but I wish there were other shorter cords. The controller appears well built and durable, but time will tell. My only ask is that the A and B buttons and X and Y buttons are opposite of the XBox controllers. XBox lets users change their button assignments and I wish that Nintendo would as well.Overall a good controller and worth the price, ... MoreThis controller has some great features such as being able to disconnect the wire from the controller. First, I like the visual design. It is a subtle Mario theme that is not too flashy. I'm not a big fan of the Joy-Con controllers so this is a welcome alternative. In terms of function it is a basic controller, like many other controllers for many other game systems. Nothing special. It is obviously wired but the included cable is a good length at 10ft, and it is a basic micro USB so you can swap out for another cable if it doesn't meet your needs. The feel is nice - not elegant but not cheap either. There is no rumble or motion but then again you're not paying for these features either. Being able to swap out the analog caps to suit your preferences is a nice touch. Overall, it gets the job done and is a solid addition to or replacement for the Joy-Con controllers.
I got two of these bad boys, the black zelda one, and the white zelda one, I was SO stoked because finally, I could play my games again while my left joycon was in repair (constantly kept disconnecting even when attached to the switch, but nintendo pulled through and had that back to me within a week and it works beautifully, granted thats not important but w/e)Got the black one, plugged it in, immediately drifting like crazy. I've tried cleaning it with air (no chemicals), tried disconnecting it and reconnecting it, restarting my switch, nothing helped. When that failed, went and got the white one, and it worked fine for about a week, then, it, too, started drifting, on top of that, the right joystick CONSTANTLY would get stuck in the upward position. (Mind you, i take very good care of my controllers because 1. theyre expensive 2. i like my things to work for long periods of time.) I made sure my switch was completely up to date, everything else works just fine. Thankfully, they were bought cheap at the time ($20 compared to the current like what, $50 price tag?). The white one despite its on-off drifting issue and joystick sticking upward, works okay for games you can just use the d-pad for, like stardew valley, but definitely not for Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild -- Though, the dpads suck, you have to press up very precisely otherwise itll press left/right, because they're not separate buttons like most controllers have. They're made super cheaply, but they're not worth the hassle. You're better off buying proper joycons, especially with how inflated prices right now. Spending tons of money on a controller that's going to be a waste of money just ain't it, chief. I wanted to believe in Power-A. I really did, I looked into reviews from multiple sources, and decided hey, why not give them a chance? Well, I regret that, because that could be $40 in my pocket right now, being used on something other than these crappy controllers. It's a shame, too, because they're really cool looking controllers and I prefer controllers in these styles because the joycons are pretty small and cause my hands to cramp up, but they didn't work out. Other people might have good experiences with these, but my own, has been bad. They just sit on a shelf, collecting dust. So some words of advice - especially to anyone looking into these to buy for family members/friends/etc (or to those that don't play games often): I don't recommend these, but ultimately - Do your research. Don't always believe every positive review, if it seems too good to be true, it could be. Just take things with a grain of salt. Especially with electronics.
Playing with the joy cons is good when playing the switch on the go, but when docked, something is missing. I personally think a decent D-pad is needed for proper console play, that's where the PowerA wired controller comes in. The controller feels nice in your hands, it has just the right weight for longer gaming sessions. The top Shell of the controller had a soft touch finish, while the underside has a black textured finish. I really like the artwork on the controller, link swinging his master sword while playing Zelda! All the buttons feel really responsive, the face buttons have a nice grip to them and when pressed, give a nice resistance. the shoulder and trigger feel really good when pressing them, though the trigger feels more like a button than a ... MorePlaying with the joy cons is good when playing the switch on the go, but when docked, something is missing. The middle of the analog stuck had a flat smooth surface and around the edges there is a lifted ridge to catch your finger. They are placed like an Xbox controller, which isn't a bad thing, once playing you don't really notice. The D-Pad has a nice gold finish to it which goes with the color scheme of the controller, it works really well feels very sturdy and is a welcome addition to the joy cons face buttons. My only minor complaints are the lack of rumble and being wired, they supply a generously lengthy USB cord. These are minor issues for me and do not Maher the controller bad, in fact I recommend this controller too anyone looking for a proper controller but do not want to go with the Nintendo pro controller. The Zelda themed scheme is a plus and the controller beats playing with the joy cons while docked.
I’m writing this review quite awhile after I purchased. It’s a great looking controller and it works (at first) but it’s very light and obviously cheaply made as the price would suggest. This controller started to have joystick drift after about 6 months but I was able to live with it since it was really only a secondary controller. Since then the drag has gotten much worse and some of the buttons no longer work therefore it’s completely unusable. I’d highly recommend purchasing the protection plan with this controller or spending the extra money on something higher quality. This controller was gently used and mostly collected dust so for it to stop working on me is a red flag. 2/5 stars because the price is fair and it does look nice.
I got this as the regular joy cons lack a proper D pad and the pro controller I have from nintendo has a d pad that registers double inputs when playing fighting games. This controller has excellent quality for the money. A proper d pad, multiple control sticks you can change included, a long cable, cool design, and most importantly premium parts. If you checkout some tear downs online where people take the controller apart you can see that they use expensive parts like metal and weighs internally. The injection molded plastic pieces are also top notch. You would expect a controller of this quality to cost a lot more. The only negatives i can think of is the lack of amiibo reader, motion, and rumble.
