While this rice is more expensive than other brands, Nishiki Premium Rice is my go-to because of the excellent quality. I love the 15lb bag because it saves me from frequent trips, is sturdy and easily clipped closed for freshness. Cooks in my Zojirushi the standard time. I also love the short grain for making onigiri (rice balls).

When soft grain is too expensive, this is a great premium medium grain rice. The grains are all consistent in size and color. All the grains are white and some have opaque spots, but beautiful to look at. When cooked the grains are starchy and stick together. The flavor is sweet and texture is chewy. If you want more starch and sticky texture add more water. I like this for making kimbap or sushi.

Absolutely do not buy! My entire pantry was infested with bugs about a year ago. I did not know what the source of the bugs was. I threw all of my food out and deep cleaned my cabinets. As I bought new food, I kept everything in individual airtight bins. I bought this rice a second time a few months ago, and there are moths in the bin where I store this bag! I am now quite confident that this rice was also the source of my first infestation, given I bought it from the same seller and it is the same type of pantry moths.

This is so different than most brown rice that we've had in the past and the whole family enjoys it. It has an almost sweet flavor to it, and the texture reminds me more of glutenous rice than brown rice. There is a slight pop to the rice while chewing, but not hard or unpleasant, and it doesn't leave pieces to get stuck in my teeth. My husband, who typically isn't a big fan of brown rice, liked this so much that he asked me to order more when we ran out. I tried, but it was out of stock at the time, so apparently this is a fairly popular kind of brown rice. We like it and hope to order more. It's delicious and I'm guessing it would please even the pickiest of eaters. Have a great day!
This is the best rice, quite simply. It is a medium grain, not long grain, not pearl grain - the perfect size. It is premium rice - well filtered, no rocks, no junk. It has a pure, nutty, slightly sweet, wonderfully wholesome taste. It has been my choice for the best rice possible for many years. This is a convenient size; I open the bag and empty into an airtight container til ready for the portion I will use. None better.
This is a short grain brown rice that finishes with a normal texture rather than the fake texture one gets from the overly bred long grain varieties. Rice originally was most certainly NOT long grain that seems to be a selling point for some reason now. The "nutty" flavor of natural brown rice is certainly present in this product but is totally lacking in long grain brown rice. This is a great product and in short grain, is really difficult to find. Thank you Walmart.com
This is a great product. I prefer the medium grain brown rice because it is less points on my Weight Watchers eating plan. It also cooks up perfectly in my electronic rice pot and tastes great. The shipping was a bit slow but it got here in perfect condition.
My rice was delivered infested!PLEASE GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. I've ordered this rice many times. They were all fine, so I kept ordering this through Walmart until recently, I got a rice bag full of larvae eggs and worms. The reason I was so sure was that I took a cup of rice right out of the package to cook immediately as delivered. At this time, the moths are still eggs and small larvae, so I didn't recognize them before opening the package or even after distributing them to my jars. I realized the rice was infected when I wash my rice before cooking that first batch. The worm starts floating on the water. I thought they might just be some small dead insects. I wanted to trust that I just opened the package and didn't check the rest (as the only way to know is to ... MoreMy rice was delivered infested!PLEASE GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. I realized the rice was infected when I wash my rice before cooking that first batch. The worm starts floating on the water. I thought they might just be some small dead insects. I wanted to trust that I just opened the package and didn't check the rest (as the only way to know is to dip them into water; and I don't want to eat too much rice). Infestations were easy to overlook because the insects are quite small and resemble the color of their food. After that first batch, I didn't cook rice for more than a week. Today, I opened my thick-glass jar to cook some rice and I saw worms crawling on the jars, white webs/nests clustering the rice...No more doubts. It was not only a few dead insects. There must have been moths, worms, and eggs before delivering. Disgusting and disappointing!!! I had to throw them all away. I lost my trust now... I really want a replacement or my money back.
Forgot how tasty this brand of brown glutinous rice is to us. Soaking it in my vinegar, water mix helps it come out perfect on rice button option on my pressure cooker. The rice of the rice is so cloudy like other brands. I can mix it other rice also (forbidden, white, %26 aramanth) they always come out perfect due to the pre-soak techniques.
I have been a LONG TIME fan of Nishiki Brown Rice. Until now. I’ve given up. This has always been my family’s favorite rice, but the last 3 or 4 bags I’ve purchased (both on Amazon and at Walmart) have been full of so many bugs, I’ve thrown them out. I’ve lost faith in the brand %26 sadly, I’m no longer comfortable purchasing it. I refuse to feed my family something with bugs in it. It contains tiny worms or larvae %26 teeny tiny beetles. I switched from buying on Amazon to purchasing at Walmart hoping it was just an Amazon issue, but it’s definitely not. NISHIKI, please do something about this and you might win back some customers (go see all of the photos %26 complaints on Amazon about it too).
