I thought the P20IX was just a perfect case of form meets function for a flood light. Maybe a little too green...I really then wanted an equivalent thrower. I was hoping for a Pi version of my lovely MH25S. The P20i just wasn't "it." Not bright enough, not far enough and no 1000ish lumon setting.The P23i does that, (maybe not as far as my MH25S... and I'd still buy a pair of P25i if they made them). But it's got it all... why take less? And it's priced great too.

We cane toad hunt at night. It is an invasive species that is killing our wildlife. We need a focused beam with a long throw. We need the light to run at a constant 3000 lumens, The P23i is perfect for our use.Nitecor has done a great job for us. This is our 10th purchase through them. Great job guys.
My review is based on my use which is using it as light for my bicycle mounted to the handle bar using two orthogonally mounted hose clamps. I bought it primarily because I needed a light with around 500-800 lumens that would last over 4 hours and this does that. I would like the mode selection to be a bit more appropriate...being able to turn the light on and have it remember the last setting (800 lumens for me) and then go into the strobe mode with the auxiliary button and then revert back to 800 lumens when the auxiliary button is pressed again. This is what the MH-23 did with only one button but that's progress. At first I didn't like the tiny blue power led but I actually like it a lot more now. I still use my MH-23 but for shorter bike rides. I highly ... I have both the p20xi and mh25s. This flashlight is an excellent combination of both. It mixes the flood pattern of the p20xi with the long throw of the mh25s. Side by side with the p20xi it’s practically identical. It will fit the nth20 holster I have for my duty belt. It will become my primary carry. Thank you Nitecore!
I ordered this yesterday. I can't wait to get my hands on it! I did notice a misspelled word in the "Ready for Action" description. The first sentence says "...you can change the brightness and access the stroke mode with a single hand". The word "stroke" should read, "strobe". Just a little type-o, I'm sure. I'll be writing my review as soon as I get it.
My EDC for well over a year has been the P20iX. I used it A LOT, particularly when walking our dog while it is still dark. It's a close to perfect setup, with instant access to full brightness or strobe and USB recharging ability. The only point where that light could have been better is the throw of the beam. I can reach across a baseball field but just barely. The P23i solved that issue. While the output is less than the P20iX the tight beam of the P23i allows me to see way further. A worthwhile upgrade if you need to see further.I only gave the P23i 4 out of 5 stars because of flimsy nylon holster on the P23i.
