"over-built" is not a negative thing and this fan is very well made - probably the best PC fan I've ever seen. But for a $20 fan it's not much better performing then other fans half the price. It is quieter then many of the cheap fans, and very sturdy. The plastic seems more substantial then other fans. And you can tell how well-made this fan is just by spinning the blade by hand - it takes a LONG time to stop spinning! But for all that it doesn't seem to put out more air-flow then any other fan. Looking for a quiet fan, and a well-made one? This is the one for you. But don't expect any more airflow, it seems designed more for quietness then air volume.

Geeks like to keep the boxes of their fancy motherboards and graphics cards to display them in their rooms. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, but its true, for reasons inexplicable and lost on me. No offense, but these are just fans. Lose the expensive customer-bait retail packaging and knock $8 off the price of each of your products. Your customers will thank you and be able to buy more. Plus you'll get less cons in these reviews. We know your stuff is good, we don't need shock-and-awe when we open the shipping boxes (and read our invoices).

Most would complain about price above all else, the fact of the matter is this fan is made out of high quality materials for high quality performance. You don't get this kind of design rigidity, functionality, and warranty for a less than premium price. I would recommend noctua to anyone serious about a quiet gaming experience.

So I recently put together a build for my friend who requested something quiet. I went with 4 of these with a few other Noctua fans, and man I am impressed. There's not really much to say, Noctua pretty much makes the best fans you can buy. They move a seemingly impossible amount of air for how much noise they make. Included in the box is a daisy chain compatible Molex to 3-pin fan adapter, which was a nice touch, along with 2 low noise adapters, screws and rubber attachments. Great fans. If you're looking for the best and don't mind spending a little extra you really can't go wrong with this fan, or really any Noctua fan.
Really like the idea of 3 different speed/noise levels with the added resistors. Would possibly like to see an even lower quieter setting? One or two more speed selections (resistors) would be nice. All in all it is a great very quiet product that I use to cool amps and preamps of my audio room. Other fans were too noisy and distracting for my audiophile needs. I need Lowest possible noise floor and thus far these are some of the quietest I have used. Really like the attention to detail of blade design and sound absorption of the soft synthetic rubber fan mounts.
One fan is used for cpu cooling and the other replace the psu fan. They replace, both previous fans which were 1600rpm, 28dba, cfm is similar. Those were not bad but now the pc is even more quiet. Anyone remind me to replace my aging case. I don't know if Noctua selling water cooling, but if they do, I think I would go with that brand.
I expected to get a quiet fan and this one is VERY quiet. It is even quieter than the "silent" fans that came with my cpu cooler. However, I did expect more airflow. Im pretty sure this one does not put out as much air as my pre-installed case fan. The blades are smaller but it does seem to spin about as fast. It may just be me, but I wouldn't want to try to get away with just one of these. Maybe much better for a pair of these on a 240 mm rad instead of just a using it as a case fan.
Top quality. Super quiet and efficient. My daughter had installed some "really cool" led fans, god bless her. Those things were like kahn worms! They went in through my ears and were eating away at my brain. I'm not sure that they actually took control of me, but I sure felt like a zombie after anything more than 10 mins at the computer. So I bought this noctua fan with the intention to buy another if happy. No more kahn worms! And it cools so well that I'm not even sure that I need another noctua, but I might just buy one more to show my appreciation;) BTW, the silicone mounts are kind of a PIA, but worth the effort.
I have tried 10-15 low RPM fans, and these are by far the best option I'm aware of if silence is your goal. I have several of these which have been running of almost 10 years at 4-6 hours per day average. No problems so far. I had to google which noise adapter was which. They came with part numbers on them, but now indication of which was the lower RPM part.
The silicon pads are nice, but I'm not sure are necessary at all unless you have hardwood flooring. The vibrations they are supposed to reduce can't be discerned to begin with. If you are using the phantom 410 case they will need to be removed in the event this is a front fan, as it's a bit tight there.
