I was surprisingly pleased with this purchase. Not just the Nolan helmet, because I own several Nolans. Dealing with Motocard was great! Checkout was easy, pricing & selection was good. Shipping was much faster than stated and communication updates were perfect. I understand the whole DOT vs. ECE certification thing but I am willing to risk that with a limited use helmet. I would buy from them again.

I bought my N21 just after quarantine restrictions have eased. I live in the Philippines and the N21 sold here has the Asian Fit. I'm normally a large. My Shoeis are large, my old HJCs were large, my old N40.5 GT was a large and even the AGV K3 SV I had was a large. With this one I had to go two sizes up. I tried an XL before but the helmet just dug into my temples. Very painful. This XXL fits me well. I feel like there's some room on the sides and after a while, I can feel slight pressure on my forehead. Nothing to worry about. It's just there. I love the helmet. The weight and visibility are excellent. No external vents although there are vent holes in the eps. I guess hot air gets extracted at the bottom of the helmet. Internal sunvisor gives excellent coverage ... MoreI bought my N21 just after quarantine restrictions have eased. I live in the Philippines and the N21 sold here has the Asian Fit. Those two slots on either side of the faceshield really work. I think they allow hot air in the face area to be drawn out. Highly recommended if you're after a compact three-quarter.

I bought this helmet in black just before the season. Wore it inside to break it in and rode approximately 2300 kms with it so far. I followed recommendations to buy 1 size larger and it still is a snug helmet. I'm confident that some more breaking in will make it perfect, though. The ear-level padding doesn't seem to fall in the perfect spot but again, I'm hoping it will.Very good isolation from the wind and the visor works great, meeting my expectations. The visor is of high quality as well. No rattling at high speed. I must say I have a windshield but still, this is a high quality helmet.Quick and safe delivery through Canada Post from FortNine.

Helmet Review

We bought this helmet for my wife to help with wind in her eyes and face, she is passenger only does not ride her own bike. Normally she rode with a 3/4 helmet and just sunglasses. She would notice with the old helmet that she had a hard time finding sunglasses that were comfortable with the helmet and gave her the needed protection. We just finished a long trip and found that it really helped here so she did not have a tired neck after long days on the bike. With the old helmet (3/4) she would feel like the wind would whip her head around and cause her a lot of pain in her neck after a long day. With the new helmet and visor she could feel the wind push, but would not whip her head around.Additional benefit was the visor pull down for the sun and when we were in ... MoreWe bought this helmet for my wife to help with wind in her eyes and face, she is passenger only does not ride her own bike. We are thinking of getting one for me now too...

I love this helmet.

Head size: 22.5" or 56cm. Small fits spot on.This helmet is very very comfortable, the quick release ratchet system needs to be standard for ALL helmets.Noise level comes with the territory of any 3/4 to 1/2helmets. Wear some earplugs or headphones!Exterior visor comes down all the way past my chin for maximum wind protection. Interior sun visor is very functional as compared with other lids that have the same device.I'm not too concerned about airflow, just flip the lid up!The N21 is handsdown very aesthetic and comfortable. I definitely recommend this to other riders. This is my first 3/4 helmet, I usually wear a RPHA11 as my regular. But the Nolan will definitely be my commuting lid.5/5

Nice, Large inner Dark Shield, great vision, quality feel
27 November 2015

Nice helmet. Inner black visor comes right down to contour to the shape of your nose. It’s a huge inner shield. Pops right down with a slide button when you need it. You can push it back up or use the slide. The inner dark shield gives great vison and total eye protection if you just want to use it for a shield. Comfortable lining. I wear Medium and it fit snug. My head measurement was right in between a small and large, so I ordered both. The small was way too small. The medium fit good, a little on the tight side though. I put a Sena Smh10 communicator system inside and it was a bear getting the lining out the first time. Now its second nature. But still be careful. Clear front face shield pops right off nicely when needed. The chin retention system is nice and smooth. The helmet feels quality, but not too heavy. I also have a ContourHd helmet camera mounted to it. There is no air flow (vents) thru the helmet, which might be an issue to some folks. I rode for 5 times, for 60 miles each time, at 1 ½ hrs each time, in 32 degree weather with 2 thin head coverings and I was fine. Forgot all about how snug it fit, even with the thin head coverings underneath. I took it out for short rides to listen to the wind noise inside the helmet without any gear on. I felt it was slightly on the noisy side. With 100 on the scale being extremely noisy and 0 being no noise, I would rate it at a 50 which is really bearable taking into consideration that it is an open face helmet. It does have a mini neck wind blocker on the lower fit of the helmet. I give this helmet an 81 overall rating considering all things. This is a nice helmet well worth the money. I would definitely recommend this helmet.

Nolan N21
20 July 2020

Had an older Nolan 1/2 helmet which I used 90% of my riding time. Figured I would stay with Nolan for a replacement. Bought a Medium, same as old one, and a little snug but not unbearable. The helmet is light, visor works well either up or down, and no problem with the sun visor over eyeglasses. Only problem I have is lack of ventilation. It was 95 degrees in Connecticut yesterday and I found the helmet for me was too warm. Had to remove it after a couple of hours. Not really sure why they did not want to put a top vent in. But for the price well worth the money.

Nolan is quality
24 August 2019

The build of this is awesome. It's very light and almost don't feel it while I'm wearing it. Noise coming through is a bit average, I've worn others that block out better. The visor is a little hard to get off at first but once you do it it pops right off easy. The drop down does sit a little lower than others but I haven't had any issue with it while riding at 80mph without the visor on.There is no air vents on this helmet. So the only air flow you will have is on the sides around the cheek pads once it's broke in. I live in Louisiana so this will be my Fall, Beginning Winter, and Spring helmet.

Quality Helmet at a steal

I've had both the Nolan N21 and the LSR Spitfire- there is no comparison in the fit and finish between the two.. the Nolan far exceeds expectations. With that said, everything else is subjective to the person using the helmet, but I'll do my best to give the highs and lows.First, the VPS "Sunscreen" is a false representation. It's not a sunscreen in any way as it's clear. "VPS" stands for Vision Protection System- in other words, it's just a clear shield that keeps the user from needing eye protection. Good news is that Nolan sells replacement VPS shields in three tint levels. I purchased the dark tint- removal instructions come with the helmet (don't throw the manual away guys!!) and it's a tool-less 25 second swap, which couldn't be easier. I purchased the dark tint- removal instructions come with the helmet (don't throw the manual away guys!!) and it's a tool-less 25 second swap, which couldn't be easier. The ratchet closure works great, however the way it sits, it presses firmly against my adam's apple and makes swallowing uncomfortable. The vents are also functional, but as the manufactures manual states, they are more for aesthetic purposes than actual venting. They basically say if you want a vented helmet, they have others you should have bought. I would agree- a few rides in mid 80's is not unbearable, but you definitely won't compete with any 1/2 helmets for venting capability. Fit is a little tight. I'm between a medium and large, but even the large is just a "smidge" tighter than my preference.... I assume after break in, things will get better. Now for the plus side- again, this helmet is WELL WORTH the extra money over the $100 variety any day of the week. On the LSR I had a lot of wind noise following the line from the edge of the drop down sunscreen and right back to my ear. With the padding in the Nolan, this is eliminated. The neck roll also keeps wind and noise from coming in from the bottom. I also did not notice any buffeting with this that shouldn't be expected- come on guys, this is STILL a 3/4 OPEN helmet... you wouldn't expect a sunroof to replace a convertible, so don't plan to replace for full face with this. With that said, the helmet IS very quiet for an open helmet- most of that I contribute to the padding. **Note, I do have a full fairing motorcycle with a 14" Klockwerks Sport Flair, so wind isn't blasting me all day like someone on a sport bike or cafe bike. I can still clearly hear my radio with just bumping it up a few notches from the level I normally listen to with a half helmet. The dark tinted screen I purchased is accurate and it IS a dark screen- free of any distortion for a wide viewing angle- the same would hold true for the clear screen that comes with the helmet. I also wear glasses and they are not affected by the drop down screen at all. Overall, a very quality helmet with a 5 year warranty. I'll enjoy this one for a long time!!!
