Purchased in the off season so I have not had a chance to wear it on the bike. It replaces an older N40 that outlived itself. Overall the fit and finish on the helmet is what one expects of Nolan. Excellent quality and very good features. Also installed an N-com system without any problems.

Just bought two identical helmets for me and my wife. After waiting 11 days they're finally arrived. We are tried before Nolan N21 and it was excellent! After verification of many reviews we decided to go to N40-5. One big mistake! The helmet is very lightweight (only one good point), but the plastic it's so cheap! It's looks cheaper then chinese unbranded helmet for 70$! Making a lot of squishy noise when you try to wear and also after! Completely uncomfortable (compare to N21). The small black viser stopped to move after second movement. Also interior (layer) doesn't fIt properly inside the helmet.

I bought this trusting some of the Nolan longtime users' comments, never regretted it. Excellent fit, value-wise it can compare and stand up with the more expensive brand. Solid and compact construction. Well, designed and love the removable visor. I find it a bit noisy when it's too windy and fogs up when its very cold, perhaps a couple of breathing holes on the face shield. Air plug is recommended for long-distance travel. I have yet to see how the blue tooth or any communication gizmo would adapt. So far I am extremely pleased and would strongly recommend novice or experienced drivers. I plan to get a second one for my wife.

Here’s what I experienced on my first ride. 10 miles highway, 24 miles country roads. The peak: Got a bit noisy at 60 mph, fine in the lower position, with some slight vibration. Vision is very good. Peak open at lower speeds gives you a big picture, no problems. #2 The faceshield: I can not tell when the clear face shield is down, visibility wise. I did get some brief fogging at highway speed (during exhale) Temperatures running from lower to mid 40’s. Rode with it down to cracked open, most of the way. #3 The sun screen works great, and easy to operate.Five positions, 6 if you count all the way up! Did not interfere with glasses, or nose. The rest of the helmet has that quality look and feel to it. My head measures 24”, bought an XL. The chin bar is a slick trick, got used to it, real quick. Very nice helmet overall, well worth the price....Oh yeah, light too.
Just moved to southern Florida and was in need of a vented open face helmet. The price of Noland's helmet was spot on and the quality was in line with the more expensive Shoei vented open face I purchased while living in Thailand. With the added benefit of changing the communication from my full face Noland was another factor in this purchase. Can't go wrong with this helmet and the sun visor has come in handy many times.
Very comfortable from the get go with a very nice quality liner. Field of vision is great and the drop down sun visor does what it's supposed to and is very easy to reach and operate. It will fog up occasionally when at a traffic the light if it's below 40F due to the lack of a Pinlock but it clears up quickly once you get moving. The main shield will vibrate a little if you turn your head while riding. I added the N-Com system and it is a very simple install and it works very well and sound quality and helmet acoustics are on par with more expensive helmets. I haven't used the vent yet but it is easy to access and looks well thought out.
I bought this helmet to use for ATVing. I have a big head, with a more oval shape. I tried a lot of different helmets but this one in 2XL fit the best. The face shield stays in place at the various stops, and the drop down sun visor is handy. The peak is nice for riding late in the day. My only "complaint" is that the sun visor seems overly dark, but this is a minor quibble. Overall I'm very satisfied with the helmet.
Bought the wife and myself the helmets before our trip. The wife doesn't like to wear a helmet, but didn't mind the Nolan. I know you should not buy a helmet and head out for 3 days of riding with out a little break in time, but this is my third Nolan and I have that much confidence, they are one of the most comfortable helmets I have owned. My last one I tested against the pavement and it did it's job nicely. I took a pretty hard hit with it and I am still here. Great helmet for the money.
I returned it with tags because it likes a rounder head than mine.I liked the look. I thought it a bit soft/flexible but it was my first holding of an open face in a long while.I ride a scooter with a skull cap slowly around town, but felt too open for higher speeds with this.I ended up buying a Bell, then later a Neotech.
After trying an HJC IS-33 II and Bell Mag 9, i decided to give the Nolan a try. I take a 2XL and have always had difficulty finding a helmet that fit well. Every helmet i have owned, i have had to do a little forming to the forehead or near the top of the ears or both in order to tolerate the helmet.I did a little pushing in of the foam around the top of my ears on the Nolan and all seems well. The quality of the Nolan seems a step above both the HJC and Bell. I had issues with the sun visor hitting my glasses on the HJC but no issues with the Nolan.First thing i did was to remove the peak. Easy quick process. Im always forgetting to remove my glasses when taking off my helmets and was surprised that i could put the Nolan on or take it off with my glasses on. Its the little things like that and not having to deal with D-Rings that make this a keeper. The airflow seems great and with the intake full open, its the first time ive really noticed air flowing across the top of my head. Maybe its because i dont have much hair left up there its more noticeable ;)Yeah its almost $100 more than the HJC but when something works, looks and fits great its worth every penny.Ive been researching the N-Com B901 for this and will probably take the plunge on it now that N-Com and Sena have joined forces. Last but not least, Revzilla was great about the returns of the first 2 helmets. $7.99 for return shipping was well worth the shop at home convenience and selection of helmets .
