A fun and easy way to do math!

It took a bit for us to understand what everything in this set was supposed to be used for, but the book made it really easy to understand and once you "get it," it's very easy! There are cards that you look at and the blocks are the main characters, and each card has a little backstory about the block and instructions on how to do the math challenge for that card. Each card is different so that kept my son entertained for a very long time! We loved the little faces and hats that you could add to the block to make your own little characters. I asked my son if what he liked and didn't like about this set. He said he likes that it'll make math homework easier for him, and he's going to use the blocks to help make his math homework easier. He said he only disliked one thing about it; and that was he had a hard time stacking the blocks whenever he got to 15; that when you try to add more after that, it's difficult to put them on without the entire block tower breaking apart. That caused a little bit of frustration but isn't a huge deal; you just have to be careful when you're stacking a lot of blocks! I'd recommend this to any family with children in Elementary School. The box says 3+ but can work for older kids too. My son is in 3rd grade and you can tweak this to make it more or less difficult depending on your child's age. I received the MathLink Cubes for free from BzzAgent, to test and give my honest review.

I bought these for my 2.5yr old granddaughter, she is obsessed with the Numberblocks programme. She showed me the learning resources advert for the blocks in her Ceebeebies magazine! I have just set them up in the simplist versions as she is young (I will save the activity sheets for when she is older). I wish there were more spare blank tiles so you could cover each cube of the characters (there are only enough tiles to do this for number 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7) and enough spare tiles to complete the different variations of each number. e.g. number 8, 9 and 10 only have 5 flat square tiles. Plus like other people a spare set of stickers would be useful too! Other than that it's a great quality product.

I loved the idea of these as my daughter really enjoys watching the program. Opening the box it all looks fantastic but in practice, it is so confusing. I'm not a stupid person but the instructions are not very clear. If you see the attached photo, some numbers have two variations, but, there are not enough blocks to make the two versions of all of them. 4,5&6 have enough blocks snd faces, but you soon realise there are not enough blocks to complete the second version of 8-10 but there are the faces.. There are also several versions of 1,2&3 complete with blocks and faces. This is not made clear on the instructions.Because of this the child is constantly taking apart the number and rearranging it, which takes them time and the program needs to be paused while they ... MoreI loved the idea of these as my daughter really enjoys watching the program. This is not made clear on the instructions.Because of this the child is constantly taking apart the number and rearranging it, which takes them time and the program needs to be paused while they do it. For smaller children they need constant help to keep pulling apart and rearranging the blocks. Also if you try to follow the episodes the instructions also don't really make sense. The activity cards are badly coded so you have a red 1 that is either a circle, lemon or triangle shape so its not very clear which red one you need to match the episode. It would be easier if it just said the series number and episode title on the activitycard. Its a great idea in theory, but in practice its poorly designed. Its not easy for a child to know which numbers they need to build the variations for and which are provided. Its also not easy for a child to find the activity card they need for the corresponding episode. That's why I don't believe this is worth the money even though the novelty is good for a child.

I found a way to get my son off gadgets.
26 November 2024

My son spends a lot of time on gadgets. He also loves math and videos about magic blocks. That's why this set really impressed him. My son happily assembled the figures and explored the math concepts. We had an amazing time together.

Inviting for little people
4 April 2023

I spotted these whilst looking to bulk out my basket and thought they might be worth a shot with my 3 year old. She hadn't watched the accompanying program prior to my buying these but is now a big fan.I wish the activity cards were explained better for adults but like the linking from each episode to the pack. I wish there were enough blocks to make both the shapes and towers of each number but hey ho.

Robust and educational
5 August 2023

My sons now 5 hes autistic hes been using numberblocks since he was 2.5 years old, he eats things so anything we buy has to be robust enpuph to take a good chew and this fits that bill!Product wise there amazing! They link into with the program and my son has a great time making the charicters from The cartoon, we have now bought 3 or 4 sets of these over the years as they go everywhere with my wee boy so get lost or muddy (but on this they fair very well in the dishwasher or soak in the sink and clean well) and becuase my son is counting numbers way past 20 so need more blocks to achieve that .. and will continue to buy Great product!

So much excitement!
22 May 2021

The excitement these caused when I got them out and that was from children I wasn't even working with. I wanted a resource that got the children I am working with excited about maths. That is exactly what I got!One child asked if I could get him a set, another asked when he was allowed to work with me and use the cubes! The blocks are vibrant and match the characters really well, number 9 has the graduated shades of grey. There is enough face plates to make the different representations, but not enough cubes to make two versions of the larger numbers. The faceplates are easily removable and the number flags fit nicely into the top of the blocks. I really like the number flags and zero has its own holder. The stickers easily peel off, which is a downside to this ... MoreThe excitement these caused when I got them out and that was from children I wasn't even working with. I am using them with young children for maths intervention. They really enjoy using them. I would recommend these to any Number Blocks fan and young children.

Very multidimensional
23 November 2024

This is fantastic and I think could be a really great learning tool. However, there is a lot that goes into this. The directions are not complicated per day, but my child wasn't able to focus long enough to hear what I was saying. I think this would be better for a child who is in kindergarten. Mine is in pre k and it was a little bit too complicated for them. But the blocks will be fun to play with until the attention span span is there.

kids loved it

Great way to demonstrate what is being taught on the show. My 4 year old and 7 year old have learned so much from numberblocks. They love sharing everything and constantly repeat different math problems theyve memorized and learned from show. These blocks keep them happy and engaged for long periods of time. I would recommend them!
