First off - I love this keyboard. I love the design aesthetic, the available colors and the simple keycaps that feature a few accents in the right places. The build quality is top-notch, the included switches feel great and have no noticable scratch. The stabilisers are nicely prelubed and well balanced, there is no rattle on either of them. The included foam, padding and especially the ghost bar make this board sound incredible. Its a clean, creamy and marbly sound and just makes everything more satisfying.I will deduct one star for two things that bothered me a little: First, the keycaps have a rather soft and smooth texture and attract oils and stains quickly, same goes for the top case. Sometimes everything feels a little slippery which can be distracting. ... MoreFirst off - I love this keyboard. However, I do realise that this is a complete, pre-built experience and full modding was not intended by the Brand. The keyboard itself is a very very good product and does not need any individual modding or tuning, but I would've liked to have the option nonetheless.Other than this, it's fantastic. 9/10.Oh, one more thing that threw me off in a funny way.. why does the keyboard have a kind of anime 'idol' as accessories? Is there a reason for having a NuPhy HaloV2 mascot? I didn't really recognize the anime girl from any of NuPhy's marketing or the website, NuPhy's design language is very clean and minimalistic otherwise, so having a bright, flashy idol girl as stickers or a poster felt a little unexpected to me lol.

The Halo96 v2 is an amazing keyboard. After hearing the top notch typing sounds and feeling the premium materials, I was instantly impressed. The halo light really makes the keyboard stand out, it's what sets it apart from other keebs after all. This is my first time using an hotswap keyboard with gasket mounting and south facing LEDs, I can confirm all these features work flawlessly. While I primarily use the keyboard wired, I can also confirm that the 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connections work correctly. The wrist rest was a nice purchase, even if it's completely solid it does a great job nevertheless, especially considering that it nicely diffuses the halo light. All of the accessories also worked just fine, the extra keycaps and switches are a very welcome ... MoreThe Halo96 v2 is an amazing keyboard. While the hardware itself is fantastic and deserves a full 5/5, the software is only worth a 3/5. I'm hopeful that NuPhy will address these software issues via an update, and I'd be happy to adjust my rating accordingly.I would still recommend this keyboard, with the expectation that NuPhy will update the firmware.

Packaging was great, you get your standard stuff, plus some minor extras. A coiled cable would be the next thing to get if you’re starting with this board as your first board. The switches were lubbed almost perfectly with the exception of the spacebar, my spacebar was over lubber to the point where on return it felt mushy, the feedback wasn’t great. The moment I started typing I loved this keyboard. For me personally it suits all my needs, which is ultimately why I decided to buy. The raspberry switches feel nice as my first linear switch. I'm getting used to them from tactiles and I think the ghostbar is so quiet I sometimes doubt if I even pressed the key just because I've been used to such a springy metal sound from my old keeb for so long. The sound is so soft and creamy with the foam and the switches I feel like I'm finding excuses to type more just to enjoy it. The RGB is bright and pretty, with the white it reflects really nice and bright between the keys too. I haven't dug into the software yet, but I was pretty amazed just how many presets there were built in. The RGB is bright and pretty, with the white it reflects really nice and bright between the keys too. I haven't dug into the software yet, but I was pretty amazed just how many presets there were built in. Adjusting not just what the pattern is but brightness and colour just from cycling through keys was nice. Currently I have it set to blue-green on the keys and the halo light. I'm using it with the wireless connection and it has no problem waking up with a button press, and the battery has been lasting a while thanks to the automatic sleep mode for the lights if I'm just sitting there watching Netflix. It was also easy to swap out some of the keycaps (my little capybara on the corner) and I like the texture of the ones already included. Tempted to get some shine through ones though, the RGB is fun so it's surprising it doesn't ship out with shine through keycaps. I do a lot of gaming and writing in the dark lol so sometimes even with the homing lights I'm like wait where are the numbers here is that a 5 or 6? I'm upgrading from a full razer blackwidow keyboard that I've had for 4 years which had tactile switches. It was large and heavy and even though they weren't full on clicky blue switches, it was really loud especially while on discord calls. Getting this smaller quieter, and to me much more aesthetic keyboard was a really exciting upgrade and I have no complaints
I love this keyboard. The sound is amazing, I have no hardware related problems and typing just feels incredible. Other comments describe the impressions of this keyboard way better, I'm here to complain and warn about the firmware. The firmware itself was finally fixed and after a firmware update there are no major issues, but you will miss out on a lot of features. First of all I don't understand why you would ship keyboards with faulty firmware and take that long to fix it; Second I don't understand how you can promote this keyboard as VIA and QMK compatible and then this keyboard is not even listed on the official VIA and QMK websites. To use VIA you have to use developer options and upload a custom JSON, which definitely doesn't help selling the impression of a finished product.. Other than that I would have hoped that there are plenty of custom firmware available to make up for the things NuPhy messed up and missed out on in their firmware. But there was only one firmware with some amazing features I found and this one has problems with sleep mode. I think if the QMK and VIA support felt more official there might be more people using VIA and also more people creating custom firmware. It feels like this keyboard is an unfinished product that would have needed more time to be refined and optimized. The hardware is amazing but software is lacking, which gives me the impression that NuPhy is only a design company. It definitely would help NuPhy to not drop a new keyboard every few weeks, but rather optimize the keyboards they already offer and put more time into development.I love this keyboard, but hate the missing passion for good software.
I hummed and ha'd about his keyboard for quite a while until I finally decided to buy it after trying a few other tri mode and hot swap keyboard and was left feeling unsatisfied. When it showed up the first typing experience was unreal. I ordered it with the Raspberry switch option and it sounds and feels heavenly. The halo lighting around the edges is a nice touch, and I love the keycaps and form factor/ layout as opposed to other "75%" and TKL options.I am not able to give this a 5 stars unfortunately, only due to the RGB control. The RGB works great, but the controls leave a little to be desired. For example, there is an option where you can have a colored background and have a different color sweep over every few seconds, but you can't change the background color, it is stuck as pink. I think this keyboard could greatly benefit from some lighting software. I tried to use the Nuphy console but it would not recognize my keyboard as I believe it is meant for the first generation of the Halo series. Maybe I am doing something wrong, I tried it with the keyboard plugged in via usb but it did not recognize my keyboard.Anyways, RGB controls aside, this keyboard is wonderful and fully worth every penny. Great job NuPhy!
I got the keyboard as a birthday gift and I am very pleased with it!That being said, there are a few observations I wanted to share. When I first received the keyboard and tried to remove a few keycaps to look at the switches, several switches themselves also got pulled out. Noticing that, I decided to try and remove all the keycaps and see how many switches get pulled out, and I would say it was about 60% of them that came loose. I am not sure if that was simply because they weren't inserted all the way or some other issue, but it made the whole experience a bit less trustworthy. I re-inserted all the pulled switches and pressed the rest of them in just to make sure before replacing the keycaps.I also received the clear keycaps in Ionic White with my gift and ... MoreI got the keyboard as a birthday gift and I am very pleased with it!That being said, there are a few observations I wanted to share. When I first received the keyboard and tried to remove a few keycaps to look at the switches, several switches themselves also got pulled out. I re-inserted all the pulled switches and pressed the rest of them in just to make sure before replacing the keycaps.I also received the clear keycaps in Ionic White with my gift and while they're supposed to fit the keyboard (they are being sold as an add-on after all), I was negatively surprised to find that none of the 3 Shift keycaps actually fits the left Shift on the Halo v2. Knowing that, I really don't see why NuPhy would be selling them together with this version of the keyboard?Again, the sound and feel of the keyboard are superb (thus the 5-star rating), but the overall unboxing experience and the add-ons have room for improvement.
I got the black version with Rasberry switches and the black aluminum semi-transparent wrist wrest. This is the best-sounding prebuilt keyboard I've ever heard. If you are someone like me and have been searching for a prebuilt keyboard that sounds good, doesn't need any modification, and isn't 200-500 dollars THIS is the keyboard for you. I cannot stress enough how well-built this keyboard is. It sounds fantastic with the raspberry switches. Super smooth, thocky and creamy, with zero clack at all. The RGB is SUPER bright and way better then most keyboards and the "Ghost Bar" space bar is the best sounding and thocky space bar I've ever used. After spending a few weeks making deep dives into the world of mechanical keyboards, then in the direction of customization, out of all the models and reviews, I felt the NuPhy spoke the most to my wants. The idea was to get a very good quality customizable keyboard that I would be happy to use, but that would also serve as a suitable base model with which I could test out different switches and keycaps before deciding on a high end setup. After nearly two months with it and typing (sometimes extensively) it's hard to believe that there is anything more satisfying than the meditative thonking of the keys, the sublime thump of the space bar (*I don't know of any other manufacturer who has come up with a comparable mod for the space bar). All of the components have been expertly crafted, selected and assembled into a package that is more than excellent: as is.I love typing on this setup and am very curious how long it will be before I get the urge to begin testing out other key caps and switches...maybe never, lolp.s. the customizable lighting effects are beyond beautiful and tasteful. When using this keyboard, it is blatantly obvious that the team behind it poured their hearts into it and knew exactly what they were doing!oh, and....Waifu!!! :-D
I love my Halo. There's one thing I'm not a fan of, and a feature request I'd like to make.First off: the quality if the keyboard is incredible. the sound and feel of it is PERFECT. The Via integration will lend to so many things you can do in the future. I'll get back to that.My one true complaint has to do with their wonferful feeling and sounding switches. Because they have put pigment into the tops of their switches, it causes the LED colors to be filetered through the switch housing. as such, my wonderfully thocky yellow tactile switches cause any blue colors to look like they're filtered through lemonaid. I can't achieve blue. it just looks like a dirty yellow-ish color under the keys. I swapped out a yellow switch with some gateron switches (testing out ... MoreI love my Halo. I can't achieve blue. it just looks like a dirty yellow-ish color under the keys. I swapped out a yellow switch with some gateron switches (testing out brown and baby kangaroo). I finally got that DEEP BLUE I was looking for! I'm now conflicted because nuphy's yellow switches are the thockiest of the bunch. Browns have just the SLIGHTEST bit more clack when they bottom out. the Kangeroos are VERY clacky at the bottom. See images for examples. Now, Nuphy, for my feature request: I'd like to be able to set up my own per-key color layout inside of VIA. As of yet, I don't see any option to do so. I've seen videos demonstrating VIA on other keyboards and see people doing so. I imagine this would be something to add in firmware to enable this? Please and thank you!
