Right out of the box (pre-installed with Mint switches) the typing sound is amazing! Marbly, thocky and just a joy to type on. I haven't tried gaming on it yet but I think I'm going to keep these fast mint switches! I also put on a ghost space bar on it and it sounds juicier but the stock space bar was incredible too. Overall the build is great the build quality, the color (blue) and the RGB so far so great. One thing I would like to know is if Edge browser is compatible with VIA to cuztomize the keyboard. It's only letting me make sounds in the VIA software but not customize anything. From order placement to delivery (TX) total was 10days with the regular shipping! So far verrry happy and would recommend NuPhy to my brothers and friends and will buy their keycaps ... MoreRight out of the box (pre-installed with Mint switches) the typing sound is amazing! The Halo96 v2 is an amazing keyboard. After hearing the top notch typing sounds and feeling the premium materials, I was instantly impressed. The halo light really makes the keyboard stand out, it's what sets it apart from other keebs after all. This is my first time using an hotswap keyboard with gasket mounting and south facing LEDs, I can confirm all these features work flawlessly. While I primarily use the keyboard wired, I can also confirm that the 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connections work correctly. The wrist rest was a nice purchase, even if it's completely solid it does a great job nevertheless, especially considering that it nicely diffuses the halo light. All of the accessories also worked just fine, the extra keycaps and switches are a very welcome ... MoreThe Halo96 v2 is an amazing keyboard. While the hardware itself is fantastic and deserves a full 5/5, the software is only worth a 3/5. I'm hopeful that NuPhy will address these software issues via an update, and I'd be happy to adjust my rating accordingly.I would still recommend this keyboard, with the expectation that NuPhy will update the firmware.

RGB works better with the mint switches. But if you like tactile switches with a translucent, colorless casing, the Gateron Baby Kangoo or the Gateron Jupiter Banana are recommended. All of them with double-stage spring.• Being able to use VIA is an improvement, and it would be better if NuPhy would create a VIA-based launcher, like another well-known keyboard brand already has.• And in that sense, being able to improve RGB control, whether key by key, by group of keys or with different schemes that can create figures.I hope the review can be useful.

Because of all the great reviews here and on youtube, I purchased this keyboard very excited about owning a high end keyboard that would seamlessly switch between my mac and and windows. What I got instead was a huge headache that has caused me way more problems than it's solved. Within 6 months, the battery would 1) never get past 60-80% and 2) fully drain under 1 hour and 45 minutes of regular desk usage. When I wrote into support, they told me this was expected behavior, and that I should instead turn off the lights (a key feature of the keyabord?) ...until the I explained that the entire battery drained in under 2 hours. After offering to let me exchange it, another support agent a week later instead insisted that I update the firmware on a PC (i only own a ... MoreBecause of all the great reviews here and on youtube, I purchased this keyboard very excited about owning a high end keyboard that would seamlessly switch between my mac and and windows. What I got instead was a huge headache that has caused me way more problems than it's solved. Of what I'm not sure. I just updated the firmware and the battery issues persist. The keyboard looks nice BUT BE FOREWARNED: If you run into any issues, you are basically on your own.As much as the keyboard looks nice, my overall experience with NuPhy has been a total dud.
I can safely while at the same time boldly say that Nuphy outdid themselves for the Halo96 by coming up with their own in-house switches. I previously owned Nuphy's Halo65 keyboard with the Gateron Pro 2.0 Red switches but found it wasn't exactly the best feeling for typing although it did sound amazing. I ended up hotswapping for the Gateron Pro Browns and while the tactile feel was much better, it still wasn't what I was looking for. I ended up purchasing Glorious Panda switches and I could finally hit over 100wpm with 95% percent accuracy most of the time. The Glorious Panda switches were good in their own right but they were loud and heavy to depress and if you're expected to type extensively for long periods of time, the strain on the fingers was evident. Now, ... MoreI can safely while at the same time boldly say that Nuphy outdid themselves for the Halo96 by coming up with their own in-house switches. The Glorious Panda switches were good in their own right but they were loud and heavy to depress and if you're expected to type extensively for long periods of time, the strain on the fingers was evident. Now, for the Halo96...It fulfills all the things that I was missing with the Halo65 but still remained in its fairly compact frame. The new and improved ghost bar Nuphy made can't be described as anything less than scrumptious and as for the switches I picked, I went with the Rose Glacier switches because the specs were that closely of the Glorious Pandas. When it finally arrived, I was blown away by just how good this keyboard types...Each keystroke had a better energy return than the Glorious Panda switches and in my personal opinion, sounds much better as well as with it not being a brick to push down, deafening, and clicky.Nuphy changed the game with this by coming out with the best prebuilt mechanical keyboard and I'm excited for them on their venture onto gaming keyboards. I will surely be making that purchase when the time comes. 5/5, highly recommend, will buy again.
This is my first keyboard, so I will admit this review is coming from someone who isn't ENTIRELY sure on what they're saying, however: I love this thing. I got the mint switches and the walnut wrist rest to truly treat myself while I'm at work, and I am the envy of my coworkers. I was worried at first that the switches would sound annoying and I'd have to change them, however I've been told by the people around me that they love the sound and it is both calming to them and also making them feel more productive. I even have one of my coworkers considering getting a mechanical keyboard herself! The keyboard is actually the nicest and best i ever had, it's super adaptable and i'm really happy with it.But I think it deserves better improvements like a program aside to manage the battery, the lights and even maybe keybinds. The shortcuts to change the RGB modes are quite messy and tbh I never remember them and I always have to open the box to check it out. I would like to check it on my pc directly.Same goes for the battery. There is a light top left that should tell us more about the battery state, but truth is, i don't watch it? and I ALWAYS get surprised when my keyboard no longer responds cause battery is low. It would be nice to have a sound notification or desktop notification when it actually is low so we can charge it up and not be interrupted in ... MoreThe keyboard is actually the nicest and best i ever had, it's super adaptable and i'm really happy with it.But I think it deserves better improvements like a program aside to manage the battery, the lights and even maybe keybinds. As an azerty user I am obligated to buy other keybinds on others websites to actually have evertyhing I need. It's a shame cause your keybinds are really attractive to me and I would have bought some, but can't cause it doesn't have the accessibility I need.Hope my review will help you in the future,Happy new year !
I'm torn about this keyboard. Even though Nuphy's marketing is primarily aimed at Mac users, as well as their inclusion of stock MacOS function row keys, their MacOS software support for their current boards is non-existent. That's correct, there is ZERO software support for MacOS. Nuphy has announced that the NEXT generation of boards will have software support for MacOs but that is no consolation for current customers. The Nuphy Console that is available for Windows is also a mess, unless you're pretty tech-savvy and do a whole lot of reading on Reddit, you will likely find it unusable. There is merit to this keyboard, it sounds great right out of the box, it looks absolutely gorgeous, even if the white finish is a bit fragile (I already and inexplicably already ... MoreI'm torn about this keyboard. The Nuphy Console that is available for Windows is also a mess, unless you're pretty tech-savvy and do a whole lot of reading on Reddit, you will likely find it unusable. There is merit to this keyboard, it sounds great right out of the box, it looks absolutely gorgeous, even if the white finish is a bit fragile (I already and inexplicably already have two chips on the aluminum finish) and the typing feel is very premium. The convenience of having a 2.4 ghz receiver as well as Bluetooth AND wired options is hard to overstate. I purchased mine with linear Night Breeze switches, they feel pretty good, although I received more than a dozen "dead" and "mushy" switches. To their credit, Nuphy immediately replaced them with a new batch, which I commend them for. The design of their Ghost Bar is nothing short of incredible, it completely transforms the sound and feel of the loudest and most-used key, making the experience that much more enjoyable. I do wish that the white spacebar that is included would also be a Ghost Bar, even if I had to pay a little extra, it would make the all-white aesthetic much more accessible while retaining all the premium features. Since release of the Halo96, I have purchased a white Ghost Bar (it would be great if they also included a white numpad Enter key, I ended up using an extra one from my Keychron keyboard). This keyboard sits on my desk at work atop a wool felt pad, after doing the Tempest "tape mod", the sound is quiet enough to not get me fired from my job hehe.I feel for this company, it seems like they are a small team with large ambitions. They would greatly benefit from more talent directed at their software integration, heck, just make the boards VIA /QMK compatible! Their design vision is admirable, and their products are GOOD, only falling short great. I hope that Nuphy will replace the boards of current customers for ones that will have ANY software support for their heavily marketed-to-MacOs customers, but that is very unlikely. Overall, 4 stars for the right-out of the box experience, and the best of luck to the Nuphy team in their future endeavors!
I type for a living and this keyboard felt like a major upgrade when I was "just" looking for a wireless upgrade.TLDR; Fantastic keyboard with some compromises that can be a simple shrug for some or deal breaker for others.I come from a GMMK keyboard with Cherry Brown switches and o-rings on the keys to absorb some audio feedback from pressing keys and was quite happy with it. However, the need arose for a wireless solution and after some consideration, I opted for the NuPhy Halo96.This keyboard impresses right out the box by its build quality. It's really up there, rest assured you're not getting your hands on a flimsy toy. The feel of each key press is super smooth and the work they did "under the hood" to absorb key pressing noises isn't a gimmick at all, it really adds to the experience of dropping your jaw. But, nothing is perfect and there's still room for improvement. If you read reviews on the product, or some of the feedback left here by other user, it won't be news to you, but it really must be taken into consideration before purchasing:- Left-handers, beware: consider how much you use your Right Ctrl key on your daily tasks, and how much you're willing to adapt to using the left one instead, either by shifting your right hand from its intended location, or by dropping your mouse to use the key - in either case, a productivity drop along the day.- ANSI only: this handicaps some languages that actively use the special characters around the Enter key on an ISO layout. I'm still struggling to get used to '~' and '^' being above the Enter for Portuguese, as it's a common special character used in my language. The Left Shift, being a longer version, skips the location of the greater and minor symbols key as well.- No instructions out of the box on how to work with the Halo/LED profiles. Went to Google, which led me to Reddit, which suggested Discord, but I gave up chasing the rabbit hole before finding the Red Queen in my face.- Maybe because I can't find a way to turn off the Halo effect (lighting on keys is off), but the battery doesn't seem to last as long as advertised.- The wrist rest came with some smudges around the area of the screws, probably screw grease. Even though overtime your own hands will camouflage that smudge on the top side, you can still see it on the underside of the wrist rest.- I was surprised to see that, even though I ordered Brown Switches, the space was using a black one. Didn't go looking through the whole keyboard to see what's up elsewhere, but thankfully, they sent a set of test switches and I was able to replace the black with a brown one.
I love my Halo. There's one thing I'm not a fan of, and a feature request I'd like to make.First off: the quality if the keyboard is incredible. the sound and feel of it is PERFECT. The Via integration will lend to so many things you can do in the future. I'll get back to that.My one true complaint has to do with their wonferful feeling and sounding switches. Because they have put pigment into the tops of their switches, it causes the LED colors to be filetered through the switch housing. as such, my wonderfully thocky yellow tactile switches cause any blue colors to look like they're filtered through lemonaid. I can't achieve blue. it just looks like a dirty yellow-ish color under the keys. I swapped out a yellow switch with some gateron switches (testing out ... MoreI love my Halo. I can't achieve blue. it just looks like a dirty yellow-ish color under the keys. I swapped out a yellow switch with some gateron switches (testing out brown and baby kangaroo). I finally got that DEEP BLUE I was looking for! I'm now conflicted because nuphy's yellow switches are the thockiest of the bunch. Browns have just the SLIGHTEST bit more clack when they bottom out. the Kangeroos are VERY clacky at the bottom. See images for examples. Now, Nuphy, for my feature request: I'd like to be able to set up my own per-key color layout inside of VIA. As of yet, I don't see any option to do so. I've seen videos demonstrating VIA on other keyboards and see people doing so. I imagine this would be something to add in firmware to enable this? Please and thank you!
