I'd been using Viviscal for several years after losing a lot of hair following cessation of estrogen hormone replacement. Viviscal may have helped some, but it wasn't a miracle. My dermatologist suggested I try Nutrafol instead and it has proven to be much more effective in improving the texture of not just my hair but also my fingernails.I did use the scalp oil for several months, but then had a few rounds of PRP on my scalp, which resulted in new hair growth. But I attribute the improved texture to Nutrafol. I've dabbled in some hair supplements here and there. I had a good amount of hair loss due to a traumatic event in my life, which is apparently very normal. I started losing hair in fistfuls about 4 months after a traumatic event(plus a baby a year prior). My hair slowly stopped shedding so much on its own but I've felt the hair around my crown is little sparser than normal plus I've got a little breakage which apparently this supplement can help with. I have been only been using this for 2 weeks and cannot speak to any noticeable differences. I don't like taking 4 pills a day but it doesn't bother me too much. I used this for a total of 6 mo and saw no change. I even took before pics for comparison and nope, nothing. I figured 6 mo should be plenty of time to see some, if only slight, improvement. I am perimenopausal and a front line healthcare worker during COVID, so add stress to the hormone changes. You have to choke down 4 large capsules once daily. I can’t stand taking pills to begin with so 4 at once (vs 2 twice daily) is hard to continue when there is no appreciable change. I recommend using Redken acidic bonding shampoo, conditioner, and leave in. I saw a dramatic reduction in hair loss measured by how much hair was in the shower drain (yes kinda gross, but it was the only real way to quantify the results in the beginning. )

Nutrafol was recommended to me by my dermatologist who used it after her thyroid cancer surgery and she said it helped bring her hair back. She also recommended something else she used concurrently. My hair was just thin and fine my whole life but with age it was getting thinner on top. I used the same products my skin doctor used and am quite satisfied with the results. I didn't get thick luxurious hair but its growing in a little thicker now and I'm happy.

I used Nutrafol daily for 5 months and did not see any new hair growth. So I stopped. A month after stopping, I noticed more hair falling out than had been while I was taking it. So, here I am again, almost 3 months into another series of Nutrafol. I can’t say I love it. I’m still not seeing new growth and I really want to. But the part isn’t widening. Hair isn’t falling out at the rate it was.
