I’ve used various Obagi products over the last 30 years and have been quite happy with all of them. I can’t say the same about Obagi Hydrate Facial Moisturizer. I was hoping to use this moisturizer both AM and PM but I have found this product to be way too thick and greasy to use in the morning. I have no problem using it at night when I go to bed. It really moisturizes my entire face and neck well over night resulting in a my skin being nicely plump and moisturized when I wake up. I’m going to have to start a new search for a moisturizer for morning.

I love this moisturizer! It may not seem like much, but rest assured it works amazing. It releases hydration throughout the day so my skin never gets parched when I wear this. It also is not too heavy that my skin cannot breathe. It seems to self-adjust. I can use this on my driest days and my oiliest days and it's perfect no matter what. I also like that there are not a bunch of actives in it, because sometimes my skin is too sensitive for all that. Plus, then you have to go down the rabbit hole with which skin products are compatible. This is truly fragrance free, it's non-irritating and has never bothered my sometimes sensitive, sometimes acne prone skin. If anything it calms down any irritation. This moisturizer is everything, gentle yet effective! I'm on my fourth bottle. However, believe the reviews on the pump system failure. With each bottle, I was only able to get one or two uses of the pump after opening, before it stops working, and I then have to go through the hassle of taking the parts out, and putting the lotion in a different container. I do love this product, which is why I keep re-purchasing; but Please Please Obagi, do something about this present pumps on these bottles or come up with a different system, because this present one is VERY DEFECTIVE!!!, four bottles in a row now, something has to be fixed. I will definitely be buying again, just because of how much I love the product.
I was really excited to try this because I'd heard great things about Obagi products. This was a big letdown. It felt very heavy on my face. The scent was highly off-putting for me. While it didn't make me break out all over, I did have more skin issues while using it. If I could have returned it, I would have. I also had issue with the packaging - the lid doesn't snap on super securely and I feel like the design is for left-handed people (good for them, but not for me) with the direction of the pump facing in combination with the printing on the bottle (I always grab it backwards).
I absolutely love this lotion but almost threw away an entire $55 bottle because the pump is for looks only. It’s hasn’t worked properly since I opened the product. I chipped the tile on my bathroom counter just trying to get the lotion out. Unfortunately, you can’t remove the top cover. So if the pump doesn’t work, you can’t access any of the glorious lotion within. Doesn’t matter how great the product is if I have to scavenge for every drop. Super disappointed.
I bought this to use on my forearms which have quite a bit of melasma (from hormonal fluctuations). I use it consistently after every shower. It takes some time. After I used 2/3 of the bottle, I definitely saw a noticeable difference. The grouping of spots, although still there, is MUCH lighter. I will continue to use this on my forearms; I bought a second bottle. I am confident my spots will lighten up even more. It has also worked on my decolletage.
