Ocun Crack Gloves - S

Ocun's crack gloves are highly rated by climbers. A thin rubber layer provides perfect hand protection while simultaneously offering maximum friction and sensitivity when climbing. Thoughtful glove design means the hook-and-loop is covered by the rubber, so that it doesn't get in the way while climbing and is protected from abrasion.

Durable yet sensitive, like me

After using them extensively for years, I’m on my second pair and am still smitten. They still allow feeling in the crack, but not so much that they cause pain.Common failure points on these are the thumb and pinky loops as the material is soft and exposed. Small price to pay for the best crack gloves on the market.

Excellent tool to protect my hands while jamming

I bought these on a recommendation from a fellow climber. I used them to jam my way up Devils Tower and they held up nicely. They are tight around my fingers but hoping they stretch after some use. They stay tight and did not affect my ability to belay my partner. They might seem expensive but better than throwing away sweaty tape gloves after a use or two!

Great Glove - Notes on sizing

I have both the original version and now the Lite crack gloves. My hand circumference measures 21.5cm. I do not fit the Medium in the original, but rather the large size. For the Lite, the medium fits me much better. Do a search on mountainproject, and you can find overlaid comparisons of the original vs Lite, the Lite is obviously larger by almost 1cm where the finger holes sit higher. The rubber on the Lite is seemingly half the thickness vs the original. Also maybe reinforce the thumb hole with some climbing tape, this part sees a lot more wear on the rock. Gloves feet great on, and add some good protection to the back of your hand.

Great for hand-sized cracks
18 April 2022

These have a bit more padding/thickness than other current crack gloves; which is good and bad. Great for hand and large hand cracks, bad for thin hands.Less thumb coverage than the BD gloves, so add a wrap of tape if you'll be doing lots of fist cracks.Durable, accurate size chart, stretch to fit your hand/fingers without stretching out too much (1st gen ORs).A solid choice, but the BD ones may be a bit more versatile (thinner, yet have thumb coverage - less durable, though).

I love these gloves for

I love these gloves for fit, but the thumb loop tore after three single-pitch routes. A tape fix worked fine, but it happened too fast to justify the cost. It could have been bad luck; I've used a borrowed pair that held up longer.

My favorite crack gloves
27 January 2023

Really love these gloves for the gym where the cracks seemed to be lined with extra course sandpaper as they seem to be thicker than most other gloves on the market and offer a bit more protection and grip. I would give them 5 stars but the velcro enclosure could use some help since they were redesigned to be "internally routed" as I often find I can't make good contact with both sides of the velcro and the gloves can come lose at the wrist strap. Overall a beefy well made glove that could use a bit more jiggering for its closure system.

Ocun crack gloves
3 October 2023

These are my first Ocun crack gloves. I had a different, thinner, brand before. First off, make sure to measure your hand for fit. I had worn XS in the other brand but wear M in the Ocun. These gloves have a very strong velcro attachment and a system to tuck the strap in which should keep it from unhooking. This is great but may require you to get your partner to help do the tucking. The rubber on the gloves is sticky and the hand is well protected. They should be good for training in the gym and for gnarly cracks outdoors.

Super protection!
20 February 2023

These crack gloves from Ocun are the best I have found in over thirty years of rock climbing. For years I used tape gloves, the best at the time. Tried other brands, some to thin, others to thick and stiff with lack of coverage,Ocun crack gloves are just right, and they have a well designed closure that won't come undone until you want to take them offBonus, they are comfortable.

Thick crack gloves
16 October 2023

These are great crack gloves, I had the black diamond ones before these and I like the ocun ones better. The black diamond ones have a plastic strap that dug into my wrist and hurt, but the ocun ones use a nylon strap. They are thicker which I like for climbing in the creek because my hands fit better in the #3 size with them.

Well made but very undersized, poor clasp.
14 May 2023

Ordered after positive review on trusted gear review site. The material and construction appears good, but the closing velcro require you to fit the strap into a thin fold on the dorsal/back side of your wrist. The Large size is much too small for my hands which are fit to a 7.5 sized surgical glove. (7.5 inches from wrist crease to middle finger tip). Returning.
