A Total Disappointment!

These may be the most painful shoes I've ever purchased. I bought these shoes yesterday and wore them today. In the store, they felt fine. I was apprehensive about purchasing them due to the high cost. The salesman said he didn't know a lot about these "running" shoes, but that he heard they are great. They are not great and these are actually trail running shoes. Very hard insole with no cushion. No my heels, legs and knees hurt plus I'm out $165!

Comfortable and light

I bought these because everyone raves about how comfortable and light they are. They seemed too expensive to purchase and not know if they were worth the price. I found this pair on clearance and figured why not. I have very large painful bunions on both of my feet and need a wider toe box in my sneakers. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these sneakers! They do not hurt my feet and feel like I have barely anything on while running. Paying full price would definitely be worth it for the comfort next time!

Comfortable but frustratingly low quality

These shoes are very comfortable for everyday walkability and have good grip for light trails. However, I'm surprised how poorly they've worn out after only a few months of use for regular wear - I only wear them for walking around, not working out.Within a month, the fabric by my inner ankle on each shoe wore away and created a hole. The treads are significantly worn down, making them no longer grippy as they once were. It's disappointing that the shoes are falling apart so quickly.

Good for ultimate
1 December 2023

Overall I like the shoe. I use it to play ultimate frisbee where there is a lot of cutting, starting and stopping. I've played in it for probably a year in a half weekly and only now is some of the outer layer breaking apart. There was some considerable rub on certain areas of the shoe fairly quickly but they haven't affected me being able to use them, minor ripping. I'm really not sure why they did the top sole the way they did because it gets very dirty very quickly and basically won't come off. Am picking up a second pair because I like them for ultimate.

Great bounce and surprising spring!
17 March 2024

Love the Cloudsurfer Trail shoes. Great cushioning AND surprisingly great spring off the forefront after landing. REALLY like surfing on a cloud. WAY BETTER than the Hokka Challenge ATRs, at least for my feet. They could provide a bit more lateral support on what is a moderate trail, Monterey Marine Bay trail, but the cushioning and spring bounce is so good, it cut 2 min's/mile off my walk/run intervals enabling me run longer/faster intervals with a shorter recovery period. Pretty cool! for a 77 yr old guy.

Given the hype around ON shoes and seemingly every other person is wearing a pair, thought I'd give the brand a try. Big mistake. These are not only the worst running shoes I've ever worn but close to the worst shoes I've worn. First, the shoes run extremely small. Had to size up a whole size, Even then the shoes are narrow and the toe box is crowded. Second, as others have mentioned, the shoes start to squeak within a couple days of wearing. Lastly, the quality is terrible. Walked through a couple airports and the materials started wearing out even before I hit the trails. Would never trust these on trail. Luckily, REI has a great return policy and I was able to exchange for Brooks Cascadia trail shoes, which are tried and true trail runners. Not a Trail Runner
27 May 2024

I love these shoes, but as so many reviewers have pointed out, they are way too fragile for the price point.First, these are extremely comfortable shoes. Aside from the Brooks Ghosts, these are the only shoes on the market that really give me no fuss.I purchased these for long distance trail running. I used them primarily on road during winter for less than 100 miles when I noticed there was pretty substantial wear on the bottom of them. Then I took them onto a trail to run, and the first thorn they came in contact with ripped the top layer right off the shoe. I took them back to REI and returned those.I've since bought a second pair that I will be using exclusively for lighter trail runs on trails that I know have no substantial overgrowth.

a bit disappointed
18 May 2024

This is my first pair of On shoes, I bought the creek mint which is such a cool color combo to use for mild trail walking. The shoes are extremely comfortable but I have some problems with them. First, somehow the design allows debris to get between the mesh outer and fabric inner and it’s really hard to clean out. Mine look permanently dirty, no matter how much I clean. Second, the soul gets a bit too “squished” down when I’m walking. I’m on the heavier side, but didn’t expect it to show as so in my shoes as it’s never happened before in other pairs. I wouldn’t buy On again.

lacing terrible
30 November 2023

I am very disappointed. I wear sneakers every day for work and was really looking forward to trying some Clouds. The Cloudvista came out and decided to go for it because I really liked the looks of the shoe. I have been wearing for the last week and this morning the eye hole for one of the laces ripped out. I see that the same eye hole on other shoe is showing way more wear than should and will probably do the same thing. this seems like a very simple thing to have correct on the shoe and don't understand why this is happening on both shoes.

zero arch support and zero cushion
26 August 2024

Got them out of the box, packed in suitcase and was forced to wear them for 10 excruciating miles at Disneyland. Due to my poor planning on shoes, I was stuck wearing these from 7am - 11 pm. I’ve seen so many people wear this particular model. Albeit a good looking shoe they provide zero cushion, zero support and zero comfort. My ankles and knees have been in pain for two days after wearing these. These run narrow compared to other models and nowhere near as comfortable as the ON running shoe. Complete garbage. They are going back. I’d wear a pair of flip flops before I’d wear these again, as they are far more supportive and comfortable. Terrible shoe.
