I wore these almost every day this past winter and spring. Waterproof upper, grippy chunky lugged outsole, and smushy cushioning typical for On shoes all add up to make these do-it-all foot garages my go-to this past winter and fall. These would be great as a dedicated low-top hiker, a work shoe if you need waterproofing and the grip on uneven surfaces, or just as a casual option. You can make waterproof material only so breathable, so my dogs start to bark if I wear these in warmer weather. They'll be chilling in my closet for a couple months unless I decide to get up to some high alpine silliness this summer. These fit true to size. They do favor a higher-volume foot, so not the best option for those with flat, low volume clompers.

These shoes have been great!! I have 4 or 5 pairs of ON that i have had prior to this pair. Some have been great and others i havent cared for.To start with the good. These shoes have been extremely comfortable for running, jogging, and day to day. I am impressed they still look as good as they do given what they have been through but even with hevy mud they rinse right off and and keep going. Running in rain i havent had even an inkling that they were leaking outaide of what came in through the top.My feet dont require a lot of modification from most shoes. That being said these were on par for comfort for what i would want out of the box. What i would expect from a waterproof shoe but i can see them being uncomfortable hot in hill country TX in the next few months.Overall if you like other shoes were great for me and i wouldnt hesitate to get another pair.

Important misses by OC
6 April 2024

Looks checkWaterproofing check ( except for the stiffness and annoying Goretex “pop.”Build quality checkTread, laces…whaat? These shoes had potential but miss on some important features. The laces are waaay too long and don’t cinch adequately to keep the shoe snug. They are super thin and bite into the top of the foot when trying to get a snug fit. This one thing changes the whole dynamic of the shoe.I question the durability of the tread and just how shallow a tread OC used for a Hiking shoe. They go with their proprietary sole but would have done better to go with a true hiking tread like Vibrum.I wanted to like based on the good but some issues kept me from keeping and recommending. For the money you’d think they could cover all the bases.

Lightweight, waterproof, comfortable, and fun!

Fun color, great traction (except on ice), and comfortable for almost any adventure you could throw at them. Slushy snow, no problem. Loose gravel, no problem. Your dirt trail ends up being paved, that works too. I wouldn't want to run a marathon in these, but these shoes worked great for a day hike, a trail run, and even a quick run on a few miles of paved trail. They have the right balance of waterproof without being too hot and the right amount of cushion balanced with enough stability to be comfortable on loose footing. The only area where they weren't perfect was when the trail got icy. They were better than most shoes, but I could have used traction cleats.Overall a great shoe for any adventure!Color - I was worried that the color was too bright and would ... MoreFun color, great traction (except on ice), and comfortable for almost any adventure you could throw at them. Looks like a good shoe, but runs really large.

I ordered these for my partner to test, and here are his thoughts:On first trying these on, they are incredibly comfortable with a lot of cushioning and support. They're definitely not a minimalist shoe, so if you are looking for something light, this is not the right choice. I think they would be great for running as well as hiking. Unfortunately, the Men's size 10.5 was much too large and I was not able to try them out because it would not be possible to run in them without them sliding around too much. The issue for me was the length- I had a couple of extra inches of toe room and a lot of space around my heel. The width was fine for me, but I also usually wear a wide shoe. I'm attaching a photo of these shoes compared to my usual running shoes, which are the ... MoreI ordered these for my partner to test, and here are his thoughts:On first trying these on, they are incredibly comfortable with a lot of cushioning and support. The muted blue color of the upper looks great in person. It's too bad they did not work out for me, because I think I would have really loved them.

Loved them at first. Hate them now. SQUEAKY AF!
1 September 2024

First the upside:They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. The downsides:After wearing them for 2 months (mostly at work at my retail job) the grippy nubs on about 50% of the sole of each shoe have worn down and they are VERY slick now.THE SQUEAK!!! About a month into wearing them they began squeaking like a dog toy. Here-and-there at first, then more, and now constantly. Apparently this is a known issue with them as I've looked it up online. There are several "fixes" out there: using oil in the holes, using baby powder in the holes, sanding inside the holes, etc. I've tried them all, and the squeak comes back. I have never spent $200 on shoes before, but was happy to do so when I felt the comfort. Now I've owned them for 3 months and I'm switching back to my less comfortable old shoes because I just can't take the squeak.Plus... I recommended these to friends when I still liked them, and several that bought them are having similar issues, and also a few have had their soles start to detach from the shoe... After only 1 - 2 months. They're mad I recommended them. They're tired of the sqeaking. And now I'm the butt of so many jokes just because of these worthless shoes.

Nice Shoe… but squeaky after about 10 days
6 August 2024

I read all of the reviews and comments about this particular pair of On shoes, most of the reviews said they were squeaky after a certain period of time of wear but I bought them anyway, in hopes that the pair I bought would be different. You never know. Well, after about 10 days of wearing them, they started squeaking obnoxiously. To the point where I swapped them out for an old pair of Merrell’s I had brought with me (I was at summer camp at the time). They are very comfortable shoes and I will definitely find a way to get them to stop squeaking so I can wear them again. I would hate to have a $200 pair of comfortable waterproof shoes sitting around the house not being used. I still recommend them, but be aware that they will squeak after a period of wear.

Solid Shoe, No Calf Strain
2 April 2024

First Impressions are that the shoe is well constructed and supportive. I tend to wear size 11 and this shoe is true to size, perhaps just a tiny bit larger then my average shoe, but not much slippage, so I think in the future I would not size down. The toe box is wide, no toe cramping going on here. The shoe is very comfortable, however, like many waterproof shoes, there is a stiffness to them. I find that the bend at my toe's feels a bit stiff and has yet to soften up. The shoe seems to be a bit wider then the average running shoeAs like many middle aged men I tend to have calf pain/injuries more frequently. I have been very pleased that with these shoes I am not feeling pain or strain in my calves. There is a bit of heal drop, combined with a well constructed heel cup and good cushion to absorb force in the heel which tends to help people like me have less calf strain. So I would say this is a good shoe for those with similar calf issuesThe laces don't have as many options to adjust and the laces are pretty strange in that they are very thin, so when you tighten up the shoe these thin, cord like laces can put focal pressue on your foot. Nothing to painful, but I am strangely aware of the force not being distributed like you would in a more broad, flat lace.I have gone on about 8 runs with these shoes and like the cushion and support. I have also used these to work in all day. Running through dewy grass have not have wetness penetrate into my socks, so the goretex superficially seems to work, but have done a rain run or through big puddles yet. I tend to be on my feet for 8 hours straight at work and have been equally pleased with how my feet feel at the end of the day.The On design is a bit bizarre for my tastes, but the show has been nice to run in, so I can will adjust.

Squeak like I'm wearing clown shoes!!
17 June 2024

I bought these shoes a little over a month ago. Really comfortable, have had a lot of compliments on their look, and great waterproofing. That being said they started squeaking like clown shoes. Wet or dry and doesn't matter the surface I'm walking on, and they literally sound like a dog's squeaky toy every time I take a step. I really don't know if I can wear them anymore, they are so loud. I had a friend last weekend demand that I switch shoes they are so loud and annoying. I'm the kind of person that never returns anything, but honestly On can't sell these shoes and should be recalling them. It's ridiculous.
