I just have to say this door is the greatest thing ever. I used mine yesterday and had the best pizza bake I've ever had. The temp in the oven stayed regulated and the crust came out perfectly. I am by no means a pizza master, but everyone yesterday thought I was. I cooked one pizza after another and all of them came out perfect just like an assembly line. I never had to open the door :) Great design, Ooni.

This pizza oven gives you the choice of heat source which can vary depending how much time you have to make the pizza. The most challenging part is getting the pizza off the peel especially when you overload it with toppings. Less weight on the pizza would make it slide off easier. I used a fair amount of flour on the peel to help slide the pizza into the oven but the pizza doesn't have the variety of toppings that I like to have. I use the peel turner at the top of the pizza to help get the pizza off the peel and into the oven which works well and I can then get a pizza with seven toppings into the oven quite easily.

I was hoping the door would help fix the issue of the brick cooling off after cooking over three pizzas, back to back to back. I was talking with friends who also use their Ooni for catering and they say to effectively cook for a group larger than 5 people you need to have several Ooni ovens going at the same time. I am not quite sure what to do moving forward, the cost of the ovens don’t make that a reasonable solution for me. Do you have any recommendations?Thank you,Tim

The product is fine.... But the website made it seem as if the karu didn't already have a door and this was a necessity...so I purchased this second door and have no need for it and no way to return it since the box was recycled.... Product is fine. But not needed
Mixed reviews for me so far…….using this door does help keep the heat in if you are doing multiple pizzas. However, access to pizza while cooking in order to turn it is a lot more difficult….there is a learning curve with this new door installed. Also, not yet certain if it is easier to use if doing things other than pizza in oven. I suspect I will be changing doors back and forth over time depending on what I plan to do in oven.
I’m sure this is great for neapolitan pizza if your flame is rocking at high the whole time. If you like to bake at lower flames you lose way too much heat. Build quality amd installation are great, but important to understand your needs.
If you are cooking things taller than the opening, you can't just pull the door open (a. no handle, b. it's locked closed with the washers). If I were designing this door, it would still open have have a better locking mechanism. This door is designed to be used with gas only (use supplied wrench and bolts/washers). Once installed, your Karu 16 is basically a Koda 16 that cost you significantly more money.Someone said in these reviews that the oven takes forever to heat, that is true unless you _close_the_chimney_ and vent the back just a bit (or the flame will suffocate), the oven heats up significantly faster and retains the heat better than with the original door installed.Had it to do all over again, I might have bought the Koda instead.
Very nice to have the slot like to old UUNI Pro. Don't have to keep opening and closing the door. The pizza door helps keep the temperature a bit more constant. If you're using wood or charcoal, the window becomes useless because of the soot that gets on it. Would have preferred completely metal door.
Was very excited to get the Ooni Karu 16 after much consideration. Typically only cooking for 2, so did not really need the size. Liked the glass door feature and multi fuel option which ultimately drove the decision. Have made several great tasting pizzas and have burnt a few as there is a bit of a learning curve for beginners. Two big disappointments: 1. Glass door is essentially worthless because of soot. Each cook required a substantial cleaning effort to see anything. 2. Onboard temperature sensor struggles to get to temperature only to find out the it was sometimes reading over 200 degrees different from the infrared gun. I Will keep working on it and expect to figure it out but kind of feel like it under delivers a wee bit
Been truly enjoying the Karu 16 for about 8-10 pizzas at this point, both gas and wood/charcoal, saw the new door and after a 12oz or two I decided to pull the trigger. Tried with gas on a windy day to see how well it would work. For anyone curious:Pro: looks very nice, obviously easy install, sturdy, nice quality and will last a long while, super easy to use (launch pizzas, rotate, view and retrieve with no issues), super fast and easy to use if having a pizza partyCon: obviously takes a bit longer to heat up. Instead of 30ish min to get to around 800f stone temp, it was more like 45min (again, windy day to be fair, but expected). If you need to access inside beyond using a peel/turner, you can’t (have to swap doors, not an option if it’s still hot). 900f is ... Great quality, terrific idea and great if you’re having people over and essentially launching pizzas frequently. This is also the downside of it taking longer to heat up (gas) and the stone-recovery time will obviously be longer. I’ll definitely keep it, but will probably go back to the door for both an “oven” option during cooking and a faster initial heating and recovery time
