YES I AGREE. I tried different brands of color polish with the OPI Topcoat (essie, orly, la girl, China Glaze, popparazzi, OPI) and it bubbles even after a half hour of waiting for the first layer to dry! The bubbles show up after 5-10 minutes after application. And my nails are buffed and cleaned thoroughly. I was so surprised that OPI would sell such a thing. To be honest I bought the OPI topcoat along with two other OPI polishes together to try the OPI brand for the first time. Also, to my dismay, the OPI polishes that I bought recently dont apply smoothly and even gets slightly chunky as I slightly overlap in thin coats as I try to apply polish to my whole nail. I searched up "Why does OPI top coat suck" to see if anybody shared the same sentiment. Now I am here ... MoreYES I AGREE. ### Product Review: OPI "Green-Wich Village" 0.5 FL OZ **Rating:** ★★★★☆ (4/5 Stars) I never thought I’d have an opinion on nail polish, but OPI’s "Green-Wich Village" caught my attention the moment my wife first wore it. It’s not your typical shade—it’s a bold, leafy green that stands out in a sea of reds, pinks, and nudes. And let me tell you, it’s grown on me quite a bit. **Personal Insights:** At first, I wasn’t sure about this bright green color. It’s definitely not something you see every day. But after a while, I started to appreciate how unique and refreshing it is. My wife loves experimenting with colors, and this one seems to capture her playful side perfectly. Whether she’s wearing it with a casual outfit or something more dressed up, "Green-Wich Village" adds a fun, unexpected twist to her look. I’ve noticed that this polish has a nice finish—it’s glossy without being over-the-top shiny, and it dries to a smooth, even coat. My wife mentioned that it’s pretty easy to apply, too, with no streaks or bubbles. It’s also surprisingly versatile for such a bold color. She’s worn it to everything from weekend outings to evening events, and it always seems to fit the occasion. **Pros:** - **Unique and Bold Color**: The vibrant green is eye-catching and adds a playful, modern touch to any outfit. - **High-Quality Finish**: It dries to a smooth, glossy finish that looks professionally done. - **Long-Lasting**: The polish stays vibrant and chip-free for days, even through busy activities. - **Easy Application**: The formula is easy to work with, offering an even application without streaks or bubbles. **Cons:** - **Not for Everyone**: The bold green color might not be to everyone’s taste, and it may not suit every occasion. - **Multiple Coats Required**: My wife needed a couple of coats to get the color just right, which adds a bit of extra time to the process. **How It Fits Into Our Daily Life:** "Green-Wich Village" has become a bit of a statement color in our lives. My wife doesn’t wear it every day, but when she does, it’s clear she’s in the mood for something fun and different. It’s perfect for weekends, vacations, or any time she wants to stand out a little. And while it’s definitely bold, it’s also surprisingly versatile—it works with more outfits than I would’ve expected. **Who Should Consider This Nail Polish?** If you’re someone who loves to make a statement with your nail color and aren’t afraid to try something bold, OPI’s "Green-Wich Village" could be a great addition to your collection. It’s perfect for anyone looking to add a pop of fun and color to their look, especially during the spring and summer months. Give it a go—you might be surprised at how much you love it!

This is one of my absolute favorite OPI shades. Perfect for any season: spring, summer, fall or winter (I wore this over the Christmas period). No shimmer in here, no glitter and plenty of staying power. I also don't require a top coat as it's very glossy on its own. 2 coats of this and I'm good to go. Love the large brush which makes for easy application, however the only thing to be aware of is that under certain artificial lighting (i.e my office workplace) it can morph into an orange-pink shade, which for me is far from a problem as A) I find it looks equally good like that, in its own unique way, and B) keeps my office co-workers guessing - when they catch me outside on my lunch break... "How did she have one shade on inside and then stepped out in another!?"

I really like OPI Start To Finish. It’s a great all in one product, and it’s high quality. In fact, all products I’ve ever used from OPI have been high quality. OPI Start To Finish is a base coat, top coat and nail strengthener. I apply a coat before applying my nail polish and allow to fully dry. It actually dries pretty quickly. Then I apply my nail polish as usual, followed by a coat of Start To Finish when it is fully dry. It doesn’t strip any colour from my nail polish and leaves my nails with a lovely glossy finish. I do find that my nail polish lasts longer when I use this. I really like this product, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality all in one product.
After a full manicure of OPI base coat, nail polish and this top coat it looked good. However, the following day I applied Boots Soltan Sun Screen to my arms as was going in the sun. To my horror the Boots Soltan ate into the OPI top coat making it soft and sticky. Immediately washed hands but it was too late. The gloss surface was all dull, pitted and sticky. Had to remove the whole manicure. NOT GOOD. This is an expensive product and should perform better. I bought the 3 OPI products together as the pack so almost £40 spent. Plus a bit worrying what the Boots Soltan did to a nail polish!
The color looked dull and dirty when I swatched it next to the other gouache paints that I bought. The paint did not lay down as smooth as M. Graham, Schmincke or Daniel Smith. My brush just dragged on the paper. Winsor & Newton designer gouache paints have also become too pricey. I rather buy the artist grade gouaches from the other brands I mentioned, where I can get a full 15ml of higher quality paints. Winsor & Newton's tubes are pretty dinky compared to the others. I just put the tube away. M. Graham even offers more white gouache paint for you buck #sweepstakes.
I purchased this in a pinch because WalMart doesn’t sell the brand I’ve used for 10 years, SECHE VITE. I have yet to find an adequate dry time for this product. I applied as instructed. Let dry for thirty minutes prior to wearing socks and shoes. My socks were enmeshed with my nail polish when I took them off. I reapplied base coat, color, and OPI’s top coat. Have been walking around my home for over and hour with no contact to enamel. I sat down and brushed my toe against a pillow. The contact once again resulted in blemished polish.SECHE VITE top coat has NEVER done this in my 10 years of using it. OPI’s top coat is going in my garbage.
I have the primary colors with green mixing set and Burnt Umber. The primary green separates when mixed with other colors and will separate after applied to the paper. I can only use it alone as primary green. The kit takes away the ability to mix some colors that use primary green. My Burnt Umber has granules that don't dissolve and when gouache is mixed with water and thinned down they float to the top. I tested it on a scratch paper and the granules speckle the paper. I thought that they would hopefully dissolve with some pressure on the paper and they didn't. These are pricy and considered to be one of the best gouache paints out there and I'm questioning that fact. Out of all my years using all types of paints, i have never in my life have had these issues. I should have taken a picture of these issues. If I can come back to add an image I will. The other paint colors are fantastic - I will call Blick to make sure it's not a quality issue. I hate to have to throw out my Burnt Umber but it's going into the trash - thank goodness I got it on sale during the big paint sale. I gave it two stars because the other colors in the set work excellent with no issues. I hesitate to recommend this brand of gouache, if I do I will have to say expect some mixing issues with primary green and don't be surprised if a color may have granules. Windsor & Newton I'm very shocked and disappointed.
I never leave reviews, but I am so disappointed in this top coat. I wish I could get my money back for it. I have tried suggestions to get it to work, but nothing is helping. It's extremely thin and, no matter how much I let my nails dry, they always end up being not at all glossy and having a bizarre semi-matte smudgy effect that ruins my manicure. I've tried it so many times and have never gotten decent results; I've tried to work with it but no solutions have worked. My cheaper top coats are a million times better, so it's really disappointing that OPI (a more expensive and respected drugstore brand) is charging so much for a top coat that is AWFUL. The Essie quick dry topcoat and Holo Taco top coats have worked much better for me personally. I think Orly and other brands are used by nail salons. I don't want other people to waste your money like I did, so please go with a different and/or more affordable option. :) I was shocked, and still am, that a brand like OPI has a staple product that is this bad. I love all of their other nail polish, so it's really shocking that their top coat is so runny/thin and ineffective. It isn't sealing in anything and definitely is not glossy, it totally smudges up the top layer of your manicure and ruins the color (it's cloudy and not see through like a top coat should be). I included a photo to try to show what I mean by the cloudy smudging. I waited ages for it to dry and even used a dryer, and it still ended up being smudged after FULLY DRYING. Again, I have thoroughly tried to get this to work for months and it always loses it's glossiness quickly and ruins my manicure. I have tried everything and am saddened that nothing has helped and will have to get a new top coat from a different brand. It is NOT worth the price tag, please try a different top coat. I would return this asap if I still had the receipt info; as a broke college student, avoid making the same mistake and wasting your money. There are cheaper options that are fantastic! Good luck! :) I never leave reviews so this is quite long because I was appalled that this is still being sold, but hopefully my personal experience helps others as I have tried extensively to get this top coat to work.
