This is a classic knife- no frills- best quality budget knife out here in my opinion. The No 6 is the smallest Opinel with the collar lock (which I like for safety). a good size- big enough to do just about any job, but small enough to throw in your glove box and forget about or sit in your pocket with your keys and wallet. Can't praise these enough- I picked up my first Opinel about 10 years ago and have been a convert ever since- bang for buck is amazing. Good knife to leave around without worrying- it's not expensive, so if it gets lost it won't break the bank- can lock closed- enough to put off a curious child. Small enough that it doesn't look like a weapon. Holds an edge for a long time. Overall fantastic.

These are great knives, been using a while now. Carbon stays sharp, the stainless is easy to keep in good shape.

Best in Class

This knife is an excellent value! If you were to ignore the price of this, upon handling you may believe that it would cost easily above $100. The quality and craftsmanship is well above others in this price range. The blade is extremely sharp and the overall knife is durable and lightweight. I would gladly purchase this again and most likely will for friends and family.

Give this a miss

Opinel knives get great reviews and have something of a cult following. So, I bought one. Sad to say, I'm underwhelmed. Sure, the design is great. But, the blade - even at this price - is cheap junk. The locking mechanism is borderline dangerous. And the backside of the blade is rough/sharp enough to snag or even rip pockets.That's the cons. On the pro side: The handle is pretty nice. It's a light knife, albeit too small for my adult hands.This knife was only $14. I'd recommend you save your money and buy something a bit more expensive. I'm going to keep mine, mostly for sharpening pencils, opening letters, or cutting fruit. That's the limit of it's capabilities.

Great first knife

Super classy little knife that cuts well and is easy to clean. I wish it locked open, but then again, if I had known to prioritize that, I would have bought the version that does lock. If I ever replace this knife I'll get the locking one, but I'm sold on the Opinel line now. Great first knife.

Nice lil knife

So far I’ve only used it for whittling marshmallow roasting sticks and cutting veggies on a camping trip but it did the job admirably. It’s pretty lightweight, the locking mechanism helps make it safe, and it cuts stuff which is, ya know, the primary use.

Perfect pocketknife

Used my dividend to buy this knife. I keep it in my front pocket and carry it with me everyday. Use it mostly for opening packages or cans of chew. It's very sharp and the size is just right. It's not a designed to be used for hacking and sawing on logs. Have used it shave kindling or firestarter blocks. And it's about the same size as a pairing knife. So you can cut, cheese, sausage, or fruit in camp. It's action is a bit stiff at first. Every couple of months I put a drop of Boeshield T-9 on the joint. Now it's very smooth, but still soild. This knife also looks cool and is made in France. You will get compliments!

Small, lightweight, but might grind your gears

Great compact knife, but the moving parts are fairly loose and allow debris and food to get all up in the knife's business. I made the mistake of taking this knife out to a beach trip, and I'm still trying to get the sand out of the securement ring. Every time I open it the sand makes an awful grinding noise, and there's definitely some dirt and snack bits in there with the sand having a party. I will say, however, that I'm a bit harder on my knifes than perhaps the average hiker since I'm often foraging along the way--slicing off a mushroom may not be on everyone's to do list for their hike, and it will certainly add some crunchy charm to your favourite pocket knife no matter the maker. Solid Pocket Knife for the Price

It is a solid pocket knife for the price, but nothing I would use as my everyday carry or something I would use hard. I gave it as a gift to someone to carry in their purse. The edge is super sharp, the handle is very comfortable, and it just looks classy.

Very sharp UL knife

Great for backpacking/ul adventures. Very sharp light duty knife. Weighs less than 1 oz. I wish wood handle came drilled for a lanyard, but it is easy enough to drill through.
