A cheap imitation of the previous model!

I had to replace a previous model which simply stopped working on the morning before a long business trip. I bought the top of the line “iO” (don’t let the branding design persuade you) it is a bit less noisy and frankly I like the job it does. However they built a very sloppy device. The carry case does not fit the device, once closed the case is difficult to open and the device is to big to fit in the case. It nearly fits but keeps the cover from closing making charging on travel require you to jam the case. Yes I have tried every position and it simply does not fit. Sign of crappy workmanship. It comes with four brush heads, which fit fairly well but not as with the earlier models, As a clean freak, its irritating, because you have o clean out the connection where the brush head fits on the device every time as it weeps water after use when standing vertically on the home charger base. Black Mold

As a dental student, I was excited to try this cutting edge and sleek toothbrush that seemed to “have it all”. I’m always looking for products to recommend to my patients to make their oral hygiene more effective and enjoyable. However, after using this toothbrush for only about 2 or 3 months, I was absolutely disgusted. I was consistent about rinsing the toothbrush off thoroughly after every use and keeping it clean, but that wasn’t enough to keep away black mold from growing inside the mechanical brush head. I ran the toothbrush under water and happened to notice small black specks falling into the sink. Unlike other electric toothbrushes, this one circulates water and toothpaste through the brush head (that goes into your mouth) and the connecting pieces that get dirty very quickly. This is resulting in black mold specks actually entering your mouth directly which is a huge health risk and frankly disgusting. I’m severely disappointed in this product and the health hazard it poses for any customer using it, especially for the high cost. Please do not buy this brush until they resolve this obvious issue.

OralB should consider a better design with antimicrobial technology (like Microban® ). As a 20+ year OralB electric toothbrush user, I've never had mold issues with OralB Pro 1000 which is a better anti-mold design. With me being in ortho braces currently, the iO9 definitely cleans my teeth better than Pro1000; however nothing is worth it if mold is involved. I initially started using an iO9 Fall-2021. I have following all directions provided by OralB to care for the iO9; and even store the handle & head upside down in a 2-part filtering open dentures container immediately after each usage. I never took the iO9 away from home. I wash & dry my hands before each use. I keep the iO9 away from everything else. I only clean it with toothpaste & tap water. I use a water pick prior to each iO9 use. My dentist sees me twice a month (while in ortho braces) and regular xrays, with no hygiene issues noted nor other dental issues occuring. I keep up with my routine doctor appointments, with all normal test results. I mark on my calendar to start a new brushhead every 2 months. iO9 continued to cause black mold within 1 month of use. No other toothbrushes I've used have mold. Therefore, this mold issue is solely related to iO9.

Fresh clean feeling!

I picked this toothbrush up a few weeks ago just to try an electric toothbrush and I have not been upset with the quality of the toothbrush and the fresh clean feeling I get after every brush of my teeth. So far, I have had great results at deep cleaning of the plaque at my gum line. I have a permanent retainer on the top and bottom of my teeth and this toothbrush has effectively cleaned around it without a problem. Although I am really enjoying this electronic toothbrush, I had to get use to the vibration because I do suffer from sensitive teeth. This was something that was easy to overcome after the first couple times of use. I highly recommend giving this toothbrush a try. Not great for cleaning your tongue. That is the only downfall.

I never thought id say this, but this toothbrush changed my life

Never in a million years did I think I’d spend over 200 dollars on a tooth brush. But after experiencing the joys of needing two root canals and no insurance coverage for them I’ve made it a mission to take better care of my teeth. This tooth brush does that. It has a app that shows you where your brushing, several settings for the speed and intensity and it actually gives your praise when you brush. If you love tech, but are struggling to take care of your teeth due to whatever (for me it’s depression) I’d say 100 percent buy this and don’t look back. I have since buying this thing a week ago never missed one day of brushing and brush twice a day now. My one gripe is it’s a bit of a learning curve. You’ll get tooth paste ALL OVER yourself if you’re not careful.

If only they didn’t change a couple old features

This is a really good electric toothbrush. Furthermore, I think it’s actually important to note that in a day and age where everything is going overboard with smart connectivity and millions of options and settings, this actually doesn’t do that. It’s as if someone high up said, “You can put modern features in, but at the end of the day, don’t forget it’s just a toothbrush.” And I appreciate that they didn’t try pander with useless gimmicks.This does, however, have 2 faults that are making me on the fence about returning. The first is the brush heads. I have this on the extra sensitive setting, and even got the sensitive brush heads. But it’s still not soft. Feels at least like a medium in a manual toothbrush. But the annoyance of it is what helped curb the habit of brushing too hard. For those where that’s a big problem, the old way helped curb that habit pretty quickly.Overall, I would say you don’t need to spring for one this expensive, considering it doesn’t have any features that are a true wow factor. And is a bit limiting in areas.

I found out that I am not a major offender and it happens less than 2% of the time.Pros: The unit indicates when I push to hard with I am brushing.Cons:the brush body gets very slippery when the saliva migrates down the brush to the body of the brush. Sometime I can barely hold onto the brush.The brush heads are only effective for about a month for me. After 3 weeks I begin to notice that my teeth don't feel as clean as the day goes on. When I stand straight up I tend to express more saliva/toothpaste mixture onto the brush.
