So what can I say about this amp head? It’s freaking awesome! I got it right around Christmas just in time for a New Years Eve gig and I was blown away how great it sounds going through an Orange 2x12 cab. I’ve been playing through tube amps for years now and I still can’t believe that this is a solid state. That’s how great it sounds! The Orange Mojo is real and present. Through a tubescreamer in front to tighten up the low end and chug along. I’m so glad I got this amp through American Musical Supply! They have everything you need and you can order today and pay later just like they say! Order online or call, these fine folks are friendly and very knowledgeable and will help you any way they can to get what you need. I highly recommend this amp head! Quality amp head, sturdy construction. Once dialed in superb clean Chanel that's completely pedal friendly. Dirty Chanel takes sometime to get sorted but once you get used to the interactive eq really good tones available that clean up beautifully with the guitar volume.Very close to valve tones that work well live. The cab you use needs thought.good 2x12 works well. Will try with my 4x10s using 2 celestion gold's and 2 fender ceramics. Good rock, blues and jazz amp.I'm very pleased with the amp. Single coils sound alive, buckers need more work but when sorted sound immense.

I just got this amp got home and 4 hours later my wife asked if I was going to bed . I have multiple tube amps modeler pedals and modeling amps. This amp is great on all levels. I have a few extra sets of tubes for each amp and now I get to keep them as extras. The tube amps can now have a little bit of a break. Pedals in front great, in fx loop great, or no pedals at all and the sound is great. The tube amps I have aren't cheap amps nor the modelers so this is not coming from someone just start out. I have over 30 years as a performing musician and thanks to Orange and the help from Kyle the store manager I can have a true great tone monster to perform with and save my tubes. If you can find this amp get it. Great at all volumes and if it isn't dirty enough learn ... MoreI just got this amp got home and 4 hours later my wife asked if I was going to bed . I've been playing guitar for 18 years now. When I saw a bunch of videos where people were calling this the valve amp killer, I knew I had to try one. Just knowing that the power section and clean channel was based on the Orange Pedal Baby was enough for me. But, when I hit that distortion channel, it was like magic. It does old-school stuff, it does metal, you can even get it to slightly fuzz out. The dynamics are great. It is a JFet based design like the Randall RG series, but I like this better. It takes a tube screamer and a boss od1 pretty well. The reverb on it isn't bad either in my opinion. Getcha one. You deserve this.
I got this for my daughter as she has been using a little 25 watt fender combo amp that doesn't translate well. She needs, in my opinion, a big girl amp...not a toy. I plugged it in for an hour with no FX and I was fairly well impressed. It's not a Marshall or a tube amp but I think it gets close, very close. I almost went back out and got another one but I have enough amps of my own. The clean channel chimes beautifully and the dirty channel does the job...needs an overdrive or an MXR distortion effect to get high gain sounds but if your not looking for that, no FX required. Solid 7 out of 10 for me.
If you like how this amp sounds in the good demos then you will definitely like it in real life. It's got that great nasally fizzy nasty Orange growl we like in Orange, and I mean that in a good way. The clean channel is very usable and both channels take drive pedals extremely weil. A light OD in the clean brings a great edge of breakup tone and a Klon or TS in front of the drive channel gives it that little boost to add more saturation to solos or tighten up the bottom end and bring the mids out for modern metal. It's more than loud enough for any rehearsal or gig I'll ever do, and at 100 watts there's plenty of headroom to be obnoxiously loud without going into the dreaded SS power amp clipping stage.
I'd previously had an Orange 20rt that I really enjoyed and have always respected the Orange line of amps, but had never really thought to look into their heads until I saw a review on the Orange Super Crush 100. I was in the market for a high gain head, but I was constantly getting sticker shock. After watching multiple reviews by some of my favorite guitarists I took a chance on the 100. The price is very affordable, iconic looks, and had the features I was looking for with 2 channels, built in reverb(extremely usable, sounds very good), and effects loop. With Sweetwaters return policy if it didn't work out I made my purchase confidently. I expected a high gain amp and what I got was so much more. I'll start off by saying WOW. With Sweetwaters return policy if it didn't work out I made my purchase confidently. I expected a high gain amp and what I got was so much more. I'll start off by saying WOW. Though the amp is analog and not tube the response of the amp both on the clean channel and the dirty channel reminds me so much of a tube amp that I forget that it's solid state. It's got a depth, warmth, and response that is far beyond digital modeling and other solid state amps that I've played through including the Fender GTX50, Boss Katana mk2 head, Boss Katana mk2 50w combo, Fender Champion 50xl, Peavey Bandit 112, the list continues... The clean channel is so pristine and warm. I can get the sparkling tones of a fender, but with a greater depth. There's something about the clean tone of an Orange amp that speaks to me when I play my Strat through it. It's hard to describe but it's something that you feel. It just fits. The clean channel also has enormous headroom and the amp takes pedals extremely well, although to be honest the tone is so good on it's own about the only pedals I use are a Boss SD-1, and my JHS Series 3 delay. The reverb on the amp is really good at about 1 o'clock and I like a little delay in the fx loop. The SD-1 I run in the front of the amp and the tone is just so sweet. Now for the fun zone, aka the dirty channel. All I can say is this amp delivers! Just straight to the amp this monster has serious tone. The responsiveness of the gain dial is fantastic! About halfway up I get phenomenal rock tones, but dialed back to about 10 o'clock you're in Texas blues territory. Up it to 2 o'clock and you start getting into hard rock and 80s and 90s metal. Max it out and you get into Nu metal, dropped D, drop C, progressive metal land. Pick and pinch harmonics take zero effort to achieve, and even with dropped tunings the tone doesn't get muddy. This amp LOVES a guitar with active pickups. The growl and snap that it delivers is nothing short of miraculous. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a metal amp though. I play mostly metal and blues but I love pretty much any music played on a guitar and dabble in jazz, blues, dirty blues, ambient, all the decades of rock(admittedly 70s rock is my favorite), and even a little funk. This amps delivers usable great tones for all genres. Built like a big Orange tank, and with a price tag of $ it's a no-brainer. I know the purists out there reading this might say, "It's not tube!", my counter is "So what?" Great tone is great tone. I love tube amps and I love solid state. I chase tones and this amp delivers. Try it before you arbitrarily judge it. As always, a big thank you to the lovely people at Sweetwater and to my Sales Engineer Nico! Love you guys!
Heard the Super Crush on youtube a few times and really liked the sound. I was just picking up guitar at the time so I didn' want to drop a lot of money on an amp so I ended up getting a Boss Katana as my first amp, also a great amp.But as I learned and found the sound/tone that I liked I started gravitating towards the Super Crush again, so I bit the bullet and picked one up and connected it to a 1x12 cabinet. I love everything about this amp, its really easy to sound good. The clean channel takes drive/distortion pedals very well, the dirty channel pairs well with a tube screamer, light overdrive, or clean boost. Reverb is great, and it sounds amazing.Great for Blues, Metal, and Rock, that's pretty much what I play so that's all I got.Unbelievable value for ... MoreHeard the Super Crush on youtube a few times and really liked the sound. The tone is very mid focused. It cuts nicely in a mix. The low end is tight & mild, not flubby. The onboard reverb is not bad, definitely usable. It's part of the master section, after the effects loop, so it's included in both the speaker output signal and the direct output signal but not included in the effects send output signal. Silent recording using the effects loop send will not include the onboard reverb. The clean channel has a lot of clean headroom but also provides a nice tube-ish type breakup tone when maxed out. I tested the clean channel with several overdrives and distortion pedals, it takes pedals well. I wish the clean channel was a little less mid focused. Using an EQ pedal in the effects loop should help resolve. The effects loop is nice, clean ... MoreThe tone is very mid focused. It cuts nicely in a mix. Using the direct out with impulse responses made a huge difference. Sounds great when using with IR's. The master volume knob controls both the direct output and the speaker output. For silent recording, I imagine you can run the amp without a speaker connected. Seeing that the power amp is class A/B, it should be able to operate without a load, no issue... but I would double check with Orange support before doing so.Overall great amp!!
I've been hesitant to try more solid state amps, but I'm glad I did. The Super Crush is just a great sounding and feeling amp, no doubt. The Super Crush isn't really comparable to say, a Rockerverb, because it has it's own thing going on, and it's a great thing. It is dynamic, touch sensitive (responds well to guitar volume adjustments as well), and natural sounding, for a lack of better words; it doesn't have that "fake" irritating buzz that so many solid state amps can get with the volume up. It also feels right with the attack and subtle changes one's fingers can make. That Orange lower-mid growl is certainly in it's DNA, so it's just so much fun to play. Orange tones at volumes that are usable at home and small to medium stages. I"ve taken it to a couple show, and it performed really well as far as keeping the tone no matter how the level was set. If you want a reliable amp that sounds and feels great at volumes any room at tolerate, this is my top recommendation. It is THE best sounding transistor amp I've ever played. I personally think it sounds better than some of the tube amps out there, so... yeah, check it out.
