Organic Hulled Buckwheat 500g | Honest to Goodness

Organic hulled buckwheat is actually not a grain, it is a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb. Not only is it a suitable nutritious option for wheat or gluten sensitive people, it is popular with people limiting their grain intake. It is very high in manganese, which is vital for healthy bone structure, bone metabolism and helping in building essential enzymes for building bones. It has been linked to lowering LDL or 'bad cholesterol' and is a natural source of protein and other goodness.

Buckwheat teeming with black unhulled kernels

The buckwheat itself is fine, but it’s absolutely full of black hard unhulled kernels that either totally spoil the eating experience (not to mention seriously harm your teeth) or necessitate the investment of ages in the attempt to pick them all out before the cooking.

I put in an order for bulk products, nuts, seeds & oats as I have trouble getting them where I live. They arrived on time and the products are excellent. I am enjoying the convenience of not going to the shop & hunting for spray free/ insecticide free ard or organic products. I will be doing it again.

I use this buckwheat a lot because it Is Australian, but for sprouting it is not ideal because a large percentage of kernels are broken.

I did find some small very hard stones in one serving which disappointed me and has made me wary. TheAustralian product presents with broken kernels which I didn’t see in the imported product. More was paid.I will probably buy the non Australian buckwheat next time.
