I ordered a pair of black sconces for installation of purpose lighting in the solid stone walled kitchen. The sconces are beaut in appearance and look quite 'en trend' in the rustic stone surrounds. I've teamed them with decorative spherical LED bulbs. The cantilevered arm is too flimsy where it meets the base, to bare the weight of a glass shade or anything heavier than the bulbs, but they look fine and support the right bulbs. They also don't have a hole for the wiring to emerge through if you are placing them on a solid masonry surface where there is not a cavity behind the mounting plate. A hole could be drilled in the side of the plate (if the wiring to the sconce cant be hidden), or the wiring chased into the masonry. I solved the problem by mounting them on ... MoreI ordered a pair of black sconces for installation of purpose lighting in the solid stone walled kitchen. I solved the problem by mounting them on home-made, round wooden blocks (wires behind under a home-made wooden channel) which gives them some structural solidity and ties the rustic aesthetic of the room together neatly. I wouldn't say these were my first choice, but they were exceptionally affordable from The Lighting Outlet, promptly delivered to my gate, well packaged and compared to the huge range of lighting options available in the market, very good for the price. Lighting is generally terrifically expensive when you add on the postage, electrician's fees and the cost of wiring and bulbs, as I now know. It was a great choice considering the initial low cost of the sconces. Happy customer. :)
