I'm not a big collector of watches, but do have a small assortment of mechanical, quartz, solar and wind up watches. This watch has exceeded my expectations and one the 2 weeks that I've owned it, wearing it everyday I've lost only 30 seconds. That equates to approximately 2 seconds per day + or -I'm impressed with the quality vs the cost and would recommend to anyone looking for a quality timepiece without breaking the bank.

This watch gets a lot of compliments while on the NATO-Style Blue and Red Striped Nylon Strap. Its one of my most complimented watches, super shiny dial when the sun hits it! Very versatile too.A con though is the crystal is a fingerprint magnet and gets hazy (I'm ultra picky). I'd heavily recommend swapping the crystal to a flat sapphire AR. Another con is that the lume is abysmal when compared to my SKX009 but who cares. If someone is reading this to chose between the Mako II or SKX009, it comes down to what you want from the watch. If you want a compliment getting watch that is not so tooltastic but just on aesthetic, the MAKO II is your winner. If you want a classier, more tool oriented watch get the SKX009 with a strapcode jubilee upgrade.Simply, if you ... MoreThis watch gets a lot of compliments while on the NATO-Style Blue and Red Striped Nylon Strap. Its one of my most complimented watches, super shiny dial when the sun hits it! Absolutely adore this watch. The dial and bezel are gorgeous in the sunlight and I receive TONS of compliments wearing it. Put a NATO strap on and it looks even better. Quality from Orient is great as usual; definitely worth the price. Also, customer service is amazing. I emailed a question about shipping and received an email within minutes. Literally minutes; 5-10 minutes I received a reply, which is hard to see nowadays.

This is not my first Orient watch. I also have a blue Mako (first generation). They are excellent watches for the money, well crafted, very stylish and comfortable to wear. They feature a in-house movement which is good out-of-the-box but can become much more precise after being regulated by a professional. The bezel can be a little bit stiff. However, it fast became easier to turn after I rotated it repeatedly under a running faucet. It's not perfectly O.K. The wristband is comfortable, however, I changed it for a shark mesh one. A lot more stylish and comfy. I ordered a sapphire crystal to replace the original (mineral crystal which gets scratched pretty quick). All in all, a super watch for the price. Can't go wrong with it.
Great watch, accurate, beautiful dial. Just changed the bracelet to a blue silicone, just my preference. Second Orient I own. First was a Gen 2 Bambino which has a beautiful blue dial and accurate also!
I first became aware of this site while watching some of the videos Mark has on Y.T.. He shares a lot of valuable information in regards to automatic watches and the Orient brand. This accurate Mako 2 is a well priced high quality timepiece. It has a beautiful blue dial which is perfectly complimented by the two tone bezel. The case diameter is properly sized as is the well proportioned metal band. A very good looking stylish watch. It arrived in pristine condition after being well packaged. What a great place to buy online.
I own Waltham, Tourneau, Timex, Armitron, and multiple Seiko, Citizen, Casio, and Bulova watches. Several of them have day / date complications that require pulling the crow out to either the 1 or 2 position to set the day or date. So I am familiar with what I think should happen. This watch looks great, keep good time, an is very comfortable to wear. But the screw-down crown is so small it is very hard to un-screw and pull out and get in into the correct poison to change that Day, Date or Wind the watch. Then trying to screwing it back down is challenging too. Since this is my first Orient watch I dont know if this is normal or if there is something wrong with my watch.
I love the look of this watch. It's kinda dressy but can be use as a sport watch. The dial is darker than the blue version, but its a very rich and deep blue. Casing is nicely polished with ok brushed areas. Bezel rotates more freely than the Gen 1 of the Makos, but it still is hard to grip as the knurling is polished. Hacking and handwinding is a great upgrade from the Gen 1, and looks better without that second crown/push from the Gen 1. Overall, highly recommended and I look forward in getting the Ray II for my collection. Here's mine with a Nato strap with matching colour.
I wear this watch all the time. Mines seems to run a little fast, sometimes by 5 mins. but that is not a bad thing. Helps me to stay on time or even arrive early. I get compliments and questions on my watch often. I really like talking it up and saying what a great watch. Even the jeweler who adjusted the links on my wristband asked me where I got it from. I plan on getting another one with the Blue and Yellow bezel for more formal occassion. Saving up now...
Wonderfully shipped. Excellent watch. Im in love with!
